Dave Mustaine Lands on Anderson Cooper’s ‘RidicuList’ for Spat With Men’s Wearhouse

Mark Metcalfe, Getty Images / Men’s Wearhouse In part three of the Dave Mustaine vs. Men’s Wearhouse saga, the Megadeth guitarist scored a mention on a big-time news program. On Jan. 8, the tale of Mustaine’s public statement about how Men’s Wearhouse messed up a delivery made it all the way to CNN program ‘Anderson Cooper 360′ and the show’s ‘RidicuList’ segment. It was on a cold winter’s day that Dave Mustaine, filled with Christmas spirit, purchased a thoughtful present for Megadeth tour manager Jim Carroccio in the form of a gift certificate to Men’s Wearhouse. Unfortunately, the gift certificate wasn’t delivered on time, resulting in an amusing yet serious rant from the mind of Dave Mustaine posted on Megadeth’s Facebook page. Men’s Wearhouse apologized to Mustaine for the mishap, and CNN  jumped in to cover the entire story. CNN host Anderson Cooper gave props to Mustaine for his hard work, legacy as one of thrash metal’s most important artists and even showcased a clip of Mustaine explaining the music theory behind the diminished fifth chord, also known as the “Devil’s Tritone.” Although Mustaine was given said respect, Anderson Cooper offered the witty line, “We are all old. You know that you’re old when one of the founding members of Metallica is upset about a customer service issue with a Men’s Wearhouse in Salt Lake City.” According to Cooper, Men’s Wearhouse did not respond to CNN inquiries about the debacle, leaving the host to playfully state, “Maybe they only like to tweet pioneers of thrash speed metal.” Funnily enough, Mustaine recently blasted CNN for claiming he still had a feud going with Metallica. This is actually the second time Dave Mustaine has been featured on ‘The RidicuList,’ so after you check out the CNN piece on the Mustaine vs. Men’s battle in the video below, click here for Mustaine’s first time on the list. Queens of the Stone Age Get Their Spinal Tap on in ‘Secrets of the Sound’ Mockumentary

YouTube Queens of the Stone Age are in the process of finishing up their next album, but took time out of their schedule to give fans a little insight (or perhaps none at all) on exactly how the disc is coming along in a new mockumentary short inspired, in part, by ‘This Is Spinal Tap.’ The band, taking a jab at how many “behind the scenes” features there are concerning acts and the music making process, filmed the humorous 9-minute clip with hosts Matt Berry and Steve Agee. Berry and Agee venture to the band’s studio to film their ‘Secrets of the Sound’ segment, but find the group a little less than cooperative. Bassist Mike Shuman can’t be bothered to remove his headphones to answer a question. Troy Van Leeuwen seems more concerned with preening in front of a bathroom mirror before giving a straight answer. And multi-instrumentalist Dean Fertita simply sprays Agee with lilac-scented spray before storming off after one question. The bulk of the info comes from frontman  Josh Homme , who admits that he’s not sure about all of the instruments in their studio, reveals that a fan sent in a human ear at their request so they could test out the way things sound, and he also reveals that he’s the Encino Chapter head of the Patrick Swayze fan club. So there you have it — everything you never thought you wanted to know about Queens of the Stone Age and their forthcoming album. Meanwhile, we can tell you that the band has Dave Grohl playing drums on the new disc, with contributions from Nine Inch Nails mastermind  Trent Reznor , former QOTSA member  Nick Oliveri and Scissor Sisters singer  Jake Shears . Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale Talks Latex Pants, Christmas Presents + More

Twitter: arejayhalestorm Halestorm may have received an early Christmas gift with their Grammy nomination but when we spoke to frontwoman Lzzy Hale she humorously reflected on the presents she got last year and explains what she would like this Christmas. We asked Hale if she ever got her latex pants and custom Gibson guitar, the presents that she told us she wanted last Christmas, and she explained, “I didn’t get either of those items under the tree but it just so happens later on, after a month or so, things started happening.” She goes on to talk about actually getting the infamous latex pants: “I did end up getting them — [Laughs] I don’t know whether to be flattered or creeped out, but I got these latex rubber pants from a fan who actually heard that or saw that article. He was so sweet about it but it was basically in a brown paper bag [Laughs]. It was interesting.” She continued, “It was just a pair of latex pants and the funniest thing was — I still have them. I didn’t wear them yet because I’m trying to think of the most appropriate [time] — it has a couple of accessories on them that I don’t know if it would be appropriate to be photographed in. They have the crotch zipper. I’m like, ‘Well I’m just going to put these in a drawer and will save them for a special occasion’ or maybe not. More power to them, we have crazy fans — you got to respect the crazy.” Hale went on to say, “I also did end up getting a custom Gibson guitar, so it was very cool. They ended up making that for me — so yes both of those came true.” When asked what she would like for this Christmas she responded by saying, “This year you know what I would love, as much as I love to travel and I love how busy our schedule has been — what I would love right now is to be on a boat for three days [Laughs] take some time off. I can’t afford to do that yet but that’s what I want.” [button href=”http://loudwire.com/halestorm-lzzy-hale-on-grammy-nomination-personal-victory-for-the-four-of-us/” title=”Next: Lzzy Hale Talks Grammy Nomination” align=”center”]

Deuce Delivers Naughty Holiday Cards

Five Seven Music Happy holidays! It’s a sentiment expressed by many this season, but not quite in the way that Deuce is doing it. The former Hollywood Undead member-turned-solo artist is serving up several digital holiday cards branded with his own sense of humor to them. As seen in the first card above, Deuce and his lovely lady pose for a “family photo” on the couch, with the caption “Yo, I don’t know what Yuletide means, but happy it!” Other digital holiday cards currently available (as seen below) include a Godzilla-like Deuce terrorizing a picturesque town decorated for the holidays by stepping on it and exclaiming in the caption, “Take that, you tiny little Xmas bitches!” The third card features a scantily clad lady with her arms around Deuce as he holds a strategically placed gift-wrapped box with the caption, “Guess what I got you …” It’s clear from the cards that Deuce definitely falls on Santa’s “naughty” list, but still, he’s in the giving spirit by sharing these digital cards and letting fans use them as they wish. The thoughtful rocker did something similar earlier this year by providing his own branded Valentine’s Day cards. You can check them out here . For more on Deuce, visit his Facebook page here . ‘Heavy Metal’ Religion Defeats Scientology, Druidism + Satanism in U.K. Census

Ronnie James Dio: Official Facebook A hardy congratulations is in order for the religion of heavy metal … Yes, the religion of heavy metal. In the beautiful United Kingdom, thousands of people claimed “heavy metal” as their religion in a recent census, beating out Druidism, Satanism and Scientology. Bless all you metalheads out there in the U.K., for you’ve chosen to follow the path of Reverend Dickinson, Pastor Halford and Saint Dio, among other blessed musicians within the heavy metal realm. According to The Guardian , 6,242 people answered ‘Heavy Metal’ when asked their religion within the census. Paganism and Wicca ended up with more write-ins than Heavy Metal, but only 4,189 people declared themselves as druids, with even less claiming Scientology as their religion. Additionally, a total of 1,983 chose to label themselves as Satanists and a whopping 176,632 people claim to have mastered “the force” as Jedi Knights. The Heavy Metal outpouring has been spearheaded by Saxon singer Biff Byford, who helped gather the votes of metalheads. “Heavy metal is a tribal music and everyone is a member of the tribe,” Byford told Independent.co.uk in 2010. “The audience is very, very loyal… especially the Germans. It’s not like pop music, where if the next song isn’t good enough then forget about it; with our music, people will allow you to be shit sometimes, and that’s one of the great things.” “The music’s not about love,” Byford adds.” Our songs are more about Richard the Lionheart, steel trains and thunder. But when you do click with a big audience, it can be quite an experience, a massive connection… I suppose you could say it is a religious experience in a way.” Check out Byford’s victory video statement below via Metal Hammer. Nickelback’s ‘Photograph’ Turned Into Instagram Song Parody

Isaac Brekken, Getty Images Nickelback ‘s ‘Photograph’ was everywhere you turned a few years back, much like the Instagram photos that you happen to see posted across just about every social networking platform you can find today. So it makes perfect sense that ‘Photograph’ and Instagram are lumped together to create a new song parody. College Humor is behind the new song and video, ‘Look at This Instagram,’ which mocks the inane objects that people attempt to photograph using the filtered option on the camera phones. While the song takes a jab at the Instagram craze, Nickelback doesn’t exactly get off the hook either. Yes the lyrics are altered to fit the message, but the vocals are where the band gets knocked a bit. It’s obvious that the male and female leads of the clip have had their vocals manipulated to achieve the Chad Kroeger -like sound. So click play and watch as College Humor takes down two notable targets in one fell swoop with the ‘Look at This Instagram’ parody video. Quiznos Goes Power Metal in Commercial for Free Toasted Cookies

Quiznos What planet are we living on? Not only has metal music successfully taken over the underground music world, but the world of TV commercials, as well. In one of creative culture’s strangest dichotomies, metal has inspired memorable commercials for Google, ESPN Sportscenter, FedEx, Norton Antivirus, Kentucky Fried Chicken and many, many more. The newest heavy metal commercial, however, features a power metal parody band flying on a magic cookie for sandwich chain Quiznos. Once again, we need to give credit where credit is due, and this commercial is hilarious. The creators of all these different metal-inspired ads have been hitting home runs, so it’s no wonder why the theme has been popping up all over television. In this new Quiznos commercial, the first band name that comes to mind is DragonForce . The British princes of power metal seem to have been the basis for the ad, as a falsetto-singing frontman, who looks an awful lot like DragonForce guitarist Herman Li, provides vocals for the cookie-riding act. In another strange twist, the lead guitarist of the fictional band is sort of reminiscent of  System of a Down / Scars on Broadway  singer-guitarist  Daron Malakian . The aforementioned in-flight pastry reaches its destination (a man’s mouth) with an explosive impact, leaving the befuddled gentleman’s palate vehemently satisfied through a melty chocolate cookie crunch. Although this commercial is a hilarious success, the title of greatest metal-inspired commercial ever remains with Suffocation and their History Channel ‘ Dark Ages ‘ ad.
