It’s time to get amped up for some football and in our 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl, we’re attempting to find out which track gets you most in the mood for gridiron aggression. This first round matchup pits the masked rockers of Slipknot against the “Southtown” favorites, P.O.D. While Slipknot offer plenty of unrelenting tracks, ‘Wait and Bleed’ is arguably the best fit the most for football. As Corey Taylor sings about the hate raising up inside of him, the listener can definitely apply that to the competition at hand. And given the violent nature of football, there will definitely be some bleeding coming soon. P.O.D.’s hit song ‘Boom’ has long been a sports anthem, with singer Sonny Sandoval seemingly calling out the competition after a particularly hard hit. As the song says, “ Boom! / Here comes the boom! / How you like me now? ” There’s no mistaking that sentiment when it comes to football. 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl You may need to strap on a helmet when you get a load of the songs in the 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl. We’re taking some of the hardest hitting tracks and pairing them off in order to determine the best song to get you amped for a football game. In this first-round matchup, we’re pitting Metallica ‘s classic ‘Seek and Destroy’ against the Danish rockers Volbeat and their recent hit ‘A Warrior’s Call.’ Metallica’s ‘Seek and Destroy’ is a natural choice, with its super-charged riffage, hard-hitting Lars Ulrich drums and a song title that might as well be a motto for most defensive players in the league as they attempt to take out the other team’s offensive weapons. As the song says at its kickoff, “ We’re scanning the scene / In the city tonight / We’re looking for you / To start up a fight .” Volbeat, meanwhile, provide what seems to be an anthem describing most football players’ mentality. ‘A Warrior’s Call’ stands out with its powerful drums and driving guitars gaining momentum right up until the song explodes. The lyrics also bring it home, with the motivational message “ Breaking your record and breaking your bones / Born a warrior with a code / A champion feeding your face with a fist / You will feel all his power! ” leading the way. Epic It’s been a roller-coaster ride for Korn , but the band has been one of the most productive outfits since arriving on the scene with their 1994 debut disc. This Loudwire Readers Poll asks you to determine which of Korn’s albums is their best. Korn remained still somewhat of an underground band with a growing following with their first two albums. The band’s self-titled debut spawned the hit song ‘Blind’ and fan favorite, ‘Chutes and Ladders.’ Meanwhile, 1996′s ‘Life Is Peachy’ followed with the breakout song ‘A.D.I.D.A.S.’ But it wasn’t until their third album that they became a massive band. 1998′s ‘Follow the Leader’ provided the group with staple hits ‘Got the Life’ and ‘Freak on a Leash.’ The following year ‘Issues’ gave us a trio of singles — ‘Falling Away From Me,’ ‘Make Me Bad,’ and ‘Somebody Someone.’ The 21st century has brought us more solid efforts from Korn. The 2002 album ‘Untouchables’ kept the momentum going with ‘Here to Stay’ and ‘Thoughtless’ enjoying some success. In 2003, ‘Take a Look in the Mirror’ provided fans with ‘Did My Time’ and ‘Right Now,’ but ‘Y’all Want a Single’ was the band’s statement on the changes in the music industry. After breaking for a hits collection, 2005′s ‘See You on the Other Side’ gave us ‘Twisted Transistor’ and ‘Coming Undone,’ and they followed with their untitled album, which featured ‘Evolution’ and ‘Hold On.’ Their last two albums found Korn taking two very different directions. ‘Korn III: Remember Who You Are,’ had them trying to reclaim their early sound, with ‘Oildale’ being the main single. In 2011, the group went completely the opposite direction with ‘The Path of Totality,’ a dubstep-infused effort that spawned ‘Get Up’ and ‘Narcissistic Cannibal.’ That’s ten original albums in 19 years, not counting their greatest hits album or ‘Unplugged’ release. Avenged Sevenfold ‘s ‘Carry On’ has staked its claim on the top spot this week, ousting Shinedown ‘s ‘Enemies’ from the No. 1 position. Elsewhere in the top five, Volbeat ‘s ‘Heaven Nor Hell’ makes a big leap up two spots from No. 4 to No. 2. In this Loudwire Readers Poll, we’re asking you to determine Kid Rock’s best song. His ‘Devil Without a Cause’ album seems like a good place to start, with ‘I Am the Bullgod’ giving him some of his first radio play. That followed with a string of hits that included ‘Bawitdaba,’ ‘Cowboy’ and the rock ballad, ‘Only God Knows Why.’ After breaking big, the singer issued ‘The History of Rock’ detailing some of his earlier work and ‘American Bad Ass’ proved to be the disc’s breakout hit. Finnish love metallers HIM heat things up with their latest single ‘Strange World’ off of their compilation disc ‘XX-Two Decades of Love Metal.’ The song itself was originally released by Kevin Grivois, known by the artist name Ké, in the ’90s.
