Corey Taylor’s ‘House of Gold & Bones’ Comics: Reveal of Issue No. 1 Pages + Issue No. 3 Cover Art

Dark Horse Comics – ‘HOGAB’ No. 3 Variant Cover Stone Sour ‘s ‘House of Gold & Bones’ period of their career is becoming more and more impressive as its multidimensional aspects continue to be revealed through various mediums. Along with the concept taking form of a double album, ‘House of Gold & Bones’ is taking shape as a four-issue comic book series created by frontman Corey Taylor . Pieces of the first and second comic have already been revealed, and Loudwire is proud to premiere a terrifying taste of issue No. 1 along with a pair of covers for issue No. 3. Written entirely by Stone Sour / Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor, the ‘House of Gold & Bones’ comic book series is inspired by the Stone Sour double album of the same name, ‘Part 1′ of which was released on Oct. 22 of last year. ‘House of Gold & Bones Part 2′ is scheduled to drop on April 9, with the record’s first single, ‘Do Me a Favor,’ having already been unleashed for your listening pleasure. As for the comics, the series tells a gripping story. “Trapped in an alternate reality,” begins an official description, “the Human must make his way to the House of Gold & Bones as he is chased by a crazed mob, and taunted by mysterious ally, Allen. What the Human discovers on his journey will be his salvation . . . or his destruction.” ‘House of Gold & Bones’ No. 1 will be available on April 17, and is available for pre-order at this link . Meanwhile, issue No. 2 will see a May 22 release date. The  pre-order link  for No. 2 was  tweeted  out by Stone Sour yesterday. There is not yet a fixed date for the third comic to come out, but the exclusive cover, drawn by Jason Shawn Alexander, and the variant cover, created by Steve Morris, are set in ink in the images below. Just like previous artwork revealed for the comics, the ‘House of Gold & Bones’ pages are stunning visually. In pages 8-10 of Issue No. 1 (seen below), the comic’s protagonist is depicted bursting into a small room while on the run from a dark and mystical shadow, which takes form in different humanoid shapes. The final teaser page from the third ‘House of Gold & Bones’ comic ends with the smoke sitting in a chair across from its terrified victim, sparking a match in frightening fashion. In our recent video interview with Corey Taylor, he spoke in depth about the graphic depiction of the ‘House of Gold & Bones’ double album. “I think it’s gonna appeal to people who like a really good story,” says Taylor, “like a mystery, trying to piece together puzzles and whatnot. And I just think it’s a great visual representation of the short story I wrote for the albums.” Check out these exclusive pieces of Dark Horse Comics’ ‘House of Gold & Bones’ issues No. 1 + No. 3: ‘House of Gold and Bones’ Comic No. 1 – Page 8 Dark Horse Comics ‘House of Gold and Bones’ Comic No. 1 – Page 9 Dark Horse Comics ‘House of Gold and Bones’ Comic No. 1 – Page 10 Dark Horse Comics ‘House of Gold and Bones’ Issue No. 3 Cover Dark Horse Comics ‘House of Gold and Bones’ Issue No. 3 Variant Cover Dark Horse Comics Previously Unveiled Covers for Issues No. 1 and No. 2 ? Stone Sour’s ‘Do Me a Favor’ Makes Concert Debut in Tucson

Liz Ramanand, Loudwire Stone Sour  showcased their upcoming ‘House of Gold & Bones Part 2′ disc by performing the new single ‘Do Me a Favor’ live for the first time at a concert in Tucson, Ariz., this week. The group chose to break out the track this past Tuesday (Feb. 12) during their stop in Tucson on their current North American trek with Papa Roach . The band has been heavily promoting the ‘ House of Gold & Bone, Part 1 ‘ album on their touring, but with ‘Do Me a Favor’ breaking the ice and ‘ House of Gold & Bones Part 2 ‘ arriving in April, look for potentially more songs to work their way into Stone Sour’s festival sets in the coming months. Stone Sour recently released ‘Do Me a Favor’ as a digital single, with plans for a music video to soon follow. In the interim, the group has posted a lyric video for the track to keep fans occupied. ‘House of Gold and Bones Part 2′ is due in April. Stone Sour Unleash New Song ‘Do Me a Favor’ With Lyric Video

Liz Ramanand, Loudwire Stone Sour know how to set a mood, and frontman Corey Taylor certainly does just that vocally within the new lyric video for the band’s latest single, ‘Do Me a Favor.’ The track is the first single off the band’s upcoming ‘ House of Gold & Bones Part 2 .’ The clip is set against the backdrop of a desolate landscape before finally directing the action inside a dilapidated house where the lyrics, and occasional silhouettes presumably of Taylor, come to light against a tattered wall. As we learned with ‘House of Gold & Bones, Part 1,’ the story centers on a person’s downward spiral and it feels as though lyrically the brutal nature of the character’s viewpoint is definitely intact on ‘Do Me a Favor.’ Taylor opens the song belting, “ I am an anti-everything man / A scab on the lips of the lord / My caustic dismissal / Is all I need to get you to fall on your sword ,” and he later offers the thought-provoking line, “ Ignoring your history is killing your past / You might run forever if death never lasts .” As for the chorus, the criticism comes harsh. The frontman sings, “ So do me a favor / Your behavior / Is just the reason there is no savior / When your wasted / Let’s face it / There’s a side of you that knows you’re a failure / Lives for the danger / Feels like an enemy / But looks like a stranger .” ‘House of Gold & Bones Part 2′ is set to drop on April 9, and ‘Do Me a Favor’ feels like the perfect transition from what we got on the first disc to lead into the second. The band is currently on tour in support of both ‘House of Gold & Bones’ discs. Stone Sour Debut ‘Gone Sovereign’ Video

Roadrunner Records As anticipation builds for the Oct. 22 release of  Stone Sour ‘s fourth album ‘ House of Gold & Bones Part 1 ,’ the band has released the video for ‘Gone Sovereign.’ P.R. Brown, who has worked on several previous Stone Sour and Slipknot videos, directed ‘Gone Sovereign.’ The performance clip begins with the band tightly grouped around Roy Mayorga’s drum kit, then once the song kicks in, the shot widens to reveal they are in a club playing for frenzied fans. The second half of the two part concept album is due next year. Singer Corey Taylor is also creating a comic book to go along with the ‘House of Gold & Bones’ albums. “It’s something I’ve always wanted to do,” says Taylor. “I’ve always been very critical of when comics go south and basically pull the fan out of what the potential is. It’s me pretty much putting my money where my mouth is.” He is scheduled to be at New York’s Comic Con this weekend to promote the comic. Stone Sour are set to embark on a world tour at the end of this month. It will take them to Japan, South America, Europe and Australia. “It’s gonna be awesome to bring the ‘House of Gold and Bones’ to the fans live,” Taylor says. “We’re all psyched to come to Japan and South America right away as well- they’re some of the best fans in the world! We gave people a taste of Part One, now we’re gonna bring them the best Stone Sour show they’ve ever seen. Get ready: it begins soon…” [button href=”http://www.noisecreep.com/2012/10/11/stone-sour-gone-sovereign-video/” title=”Watch Stone Sour’s ‘Gone Sovereign’ Video at Noisecreep” align=”center”]
