Pearl Jam’s Stone Gossard Narrows New Album Timeline to ‘Nine or Twelve Months’

Rick Diamond, Getty Images Pearl Jam fans have been waiting patiently for new music and the band admittedly has been taking things at their own pace, but guitarist Stone Gossard gave fans some hope for a light at the end of the tunnel by offering a timeline during an interview on an Italian radio station this week. The guitarist told the station (excerpted by ), “I cannot tell you an exact date, but if all goes according to plan, we will have a new Pearl Jam album in nine or twelve months.” For those doing the math in their heads, that would place the timeline between November 2013 and February 2014. Last fall, both Jeff Ament and Eddie Vedder alluded to the band being halfway through their new album, but they also revealed that the group had spent significant time away from each other over the past year and would regroup when the timing felt right to conclude their disc. Late last month, Ament added that the band members had met with producer Brendan O’Brien , which would at least signify that they might be starting up on new music soon. The group has also booked some scattered dates this summer, including a show at Chicago’s Wrigley Field . The still-untitled new album would be the band’s first since 2009′s ‘Backspacer’ and only their third disc in the last decade. [button href=”” title=”Next: 10 Best Pearl Jam Songs” align=”center”]

Dave Grohl Explains History of Rock ‘n’ Roll on ‘Chelsea Lately’

YouTube Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl is made the most of his week-long hosting stint on ‘Chelsea Lately,’ and while he’s done a solid job with his interviewing skills, the rock frontman scored big laughs with a sketch on the history of rock ‘n’ roll. Grohl put the ‘Chelsea Lately’ crew to work, dressing them in costumes as he attempted to explain what he did and the world he comes from to the staffers on the show. The sketch introduced key figures from each era — from Elvis through Deadmau5 — with the costumes getting increasingly absurd. The sketch ended with Grohl introducing the “one true original who transcends every genre of every decade and will continue to be the future of music” — Elton John . The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer was one of Grohl’s guests earlier in the week and gave the singer some friendly advice. “For f— sake, get on with it,” John exclaimed. It was during the ‘Chelsea Lately’ appearance that Elton John revealed that he had been in the studio with Grohl and the members of Queens of the Stone Age , lending a hand on a track for Queens’ upcoming disc. ‘ Chelsea Lately ‘ can be seen weeknights at 11PM ET/10PM CT on the E! network. Stone Sour + Papa Roach Heat Up New York City With Support From Otherwise

Liz Ramanand, Loudwire Stone Sour , Papa Roach and Otherwise brought the heat Tuesday night (Jan. 23) to a sold-out crowd that needed to be warmed up after stepping into New York City’s Terminal 5 on an extremely cold night outside. For anyone who has seen frontman Corey Taylor in action, it’s evident that he gives it his all when performing. Stone Sour gave a phenomenal performance as they began their set with their dual singles ‘Gone Sovereign’ and ‘Absolute Zero’ off their latest album, ‘House of Gold & Bones Part 1.’ They also played other new tunes such as ‘A Rumor of Skin,’ ’RU486,’ ‘The Travelers (Part 2)’ and ‘Last of the Reel.’ The crowd joined Taylor in belting out hits such as ‘Bother’ and ‘Through Glass’ and went crazy when Stone Sour performed favorites such as ‘Made of Scars,’ ‘Reborn’ and ‘30/30-150.’ Earlier in the night, co-headliner Papa Roach proved that the band is ‘Still Swingin’ as they kicked off their set with that very song. Despite having surgery on his vocal cords only a few months ago, singer Jacoby Shaddix delivered powerful performances of other tracks off their latest disc, ‘The Connection,’ such as ‘Where Did the Angels Go,’ ‘Silence Is the Enemy,’ ‘Give Me Back My Life’ and ‘Before I Die.’ The band also rocked out well known hits like ‘Getting Away With Murder,’ ‘Scars,’ and ‘Hollywood Whore.’ And fans really lost their minds as Papa Roach ended their set with a rousing rendition of ‘Last Resort.’ Otherwise kicked off the rocking night of music with a vigorous performance as they played various tracks off of their album ‘True Love Never Dies.’ Frontman Adrian Patrick and his brother, guitarist Ryan Patrick, have a certain energy, connection and perceptiveness onstage. The overall presence and passion of the band as a whole is a dynamic one. Dave Grohl to Perform With Corey Taylor + Others During Sundance Film Festival Set

Theo Wargo / Kevin Winter, Getty Images The ‘Sound City’ soundtrack is definitely star-studded, so when Dave Grohl revealed that he would have several guest stars join him for a concert celebrating the premiere of his ‘Sound City’ documentary at the Sundance Film Festival, there was naturally a lot of questions about who would be part of the Sound City Players . Now, after a little bit of arm twisting, it’s so far been revealed that Corey Taylor , Taylor Hawkins and Alain Johannes will be among those joining Grohl in Park City, Utah, for the gig on Jan. 18. Grohl has been updating fans about his band practices, but finally bowed to a little pressure with a Facebook update that stated, “Pics or it didn’t happen, you say? Right now, band practice.” Accompanying the quip was a studio photo of Grohl performing with his longtime Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins and Queens of the Stone Age multi-instrumentalist Alain Johannes. In addition, the Salt Lake Tribune  confirmed the participation of Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor. According to the paper, Taylor himself revealed his participation. The singer has enjoyed the Sundance experience in the past, taking the stage with the all-star covers band Camp Freddy several years ago. The fact that Grohl is performing with either Hawkins or Johannes should come as little surprise given the length of the relationship and association the singer has kept up with both musicians. Plus, the fact that both artists appear on multiple cuts on the ‘Sound City’ soundtrack makes them a natural fit for the show. For those trying to connect the dots with other potential guests, Hawkins appears on songs that feature Stevie Nicks , Rick Springfield and Fear’s Lee Ving on the soundtrack, while Johannes contributes to tracks featuring Ving and Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme .
