Nine-Year-Old Girl Sings With Guns N’ Roses During Las Vegas Soundcheck

Chris McKay, Getty Images The Guns N’ Roses Las Vegas residency was cool as it was, but it got a little cooler this past week for one very young fan. Video footage has surfaced of the band welcoming a nine-year-old girl named Chloe, who lent her vocals to the band’s ‘Catcher in the Rye’ while the band soundchecked for their Nov. 21st performance. The clip, with low quality audio, can be seen below. The band’s Las Vegas run has widely been regarded as a success, with the group crafting their own set lists exclusively for each show. In addition to young Chloe’s pre-show guest appearance, the Nov. 21 date proved special for another reason. Guns N’ Roses reportedly taped part of the show in 3D , presumably for a future concert video release. During the epic performance, the band rocked through many of their classics, along with covering Pink Floyd ‘s ‘Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2)’ and Neil Young ‘s ‘Don’t Let It Bring You Down.’ The band’s 12-date residency closed out last night (Nov. 24) at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas. Def Leppard Announce 2013 Las Vegas Residency

Yet another rock band has announced that they will launch a Las Vegas residency. With bands such as Motley Crue and Guns N’ Roses having successful tenures in Sin City, Def Leppard are the latest act to confirm a series of shows in Vegas. Def Leppard’s residency will be titled ‘Viva Hysteria!’ and will be focused around the band’s most beloved album, ‘Hysteria.’ The group will be playing the record in its entirety, which features the legendary tracks, ‘Animal,’ ‘Love Bites’ and ‘Pour Some Sugar on Me,’ along with select hits from their other albums. The famed Hard Rock Hotel and Casino will host Def Leppard’s residency, with nine shows scheduled to begin on March 22. “We’re very happy to be part of what I call the first wave of rockers to take Vegas back from the lounge singers — Wayne Newton and his type,” Def Leppard frontman Joe Elliott tells USA Today . “Things like ‘Run Riot,’ ‘Don’t Shoot Shotgun’ and ‘Love and Affection’ got left by the wayside because of the popularity of other songs that, to be frank, if you don’t play them live, you don’t get out of the building alive. The oddest thing is going to be doing ‘Sugar’ fifth. In many respects, it’s like the Troggs opening with Wild Thing.” Elliot continues, “The downtime will not go to waste. Two of the guys in the band live in Dublin and the other three live in California. This is a great opportunity for a band that has decided to live all over the world to be in one room at one time, to look each other in the eyes and to come up with ideas.” Ultimate Classic Rock actually spoke with Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen earlier this year about the possibility of a Las Vegas residency. “We’ve been talking about this for 10 years, me and Joe Elliot, more than anyone else. We [would] do [whole albums like] ‘Hysteria’ or we do ‘Pyromania’ one night and something like that would be great, but we’ve just talked about it. Obviously we haven’t got it into gear, it would be cool. It’s getting the time to do it in a venue; I think that’s brilliant Motley Crue doing it.” Check out Def Leppard’s upcoming Vegas dates below. Controversial Las Vegas Guns N’ Roses Posters Removed

Guns N’ Roses  are currently in the midst of their 12-show ‘Appetite for Democracy’ residency at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, but posters promoting the shows have been at the center of controversy. Those posters, which are based on the banned original album cover for ‘Appetite for Destruction,’ and show a woman who appears to have been sexually assaulted, have now been taken down. The artwork (seen to the left), which in addition to being on posters, was also used in newspaper ads, billboards, buses and taxis. It drew criticism for depicting violence against women. “This type of advertising is simply unacceptable,” Hannah Brook, executive director for The Rape Crisis Center told the Las Vegas Review Journal . “Not only for just the victims and the message of violence it brings, but also for the community in general. This is not the type of message we want to portray to tourists that are coming to our city. We want them to know it’s a safe place to come, and by putting a message out there with Las Vegas above it is concerning.” In honor of the band’s residency, the city of Las Vegas also temporarily renamed Paradise Road, which runs next to the Hard Rock Hotel, to Paradise City Road. Clark County commissioner Mary Beth Scow tells the Las Vegas Sun she regrets the county’s decision. “I hadn’t seen the advertising before the media event. It’s clearly inappropriate. Maybe it’s the risk of doing business with a rock band, but I guess we’ll have some remorse over this decision. It’s a lesson learned.” The Hard Rock Hotel has apologized for the artwork, issuing a statement Friday which reads, “Hard Rock Hotel & Casino regrets that the Guns N’ Roses advertising for their current shows has offended any member of the community. The resort has decided to further modify the art and began the process of changing the materials.” The GN’R residency in Las Vegas runs until Nov. 24. Guns N’ Roses Kick Off Las Vegas Residency on Halloween Night

Chris McKay, Getty Images Guns N’ Roses have kicked off their nearly monthlong residency in Las Vegas. Beginning on Halloween night, the band ripped through a set where singer Axl Rose gave a far greater performance than he has at recent shows. After a highly criticized performance by Axl Rose at Neil Young’s annual Bridge School benefit show, which was widely distributed online at the expense of Rose, the singer proved that he can still deliver a quality vocal show at this first Vegas show. Additionally, the city of Las Vegas celebrated the Guns N’ Roses residency by temporarily renaming Paradise Road as Paradise City Road . The band ripped through a 29-song set that included covers of Pink Floyd’s ‘Another Brick in the Wall Pt 2′ and Neil Young’s ‘Don’t Let It Bring You Down.’ The show also allowed band members Tommy Stinson and Bumblefoot to take lead vocals on their own original songs. Guns N’ Roses’ residency at the Joint Las Vegas continues through Nov. 24. Guitarist DJ Ashba: Axl Rose Has ‘Tons of Stuff Done’ for New Guns N’ Roses Album

Ian Hitchcock, Getty Images When, oh, when will fans get served the uber-anticipated follow-up to Guns N’ Roses ’ 2008 album, ‘Chinese Democracy’? According to guitarist DJ Ashba , new music from GN’R may not be too far away! “[Axl Rose] has tons of stuff done [and] recorded that he’s played for me and wants my input on,” Ashba says in an interview with Rolling Stone . “Axl’s put together such a talented group of musicians and there are so many songs that are already worked out. So we’ve got a good jump on it, for sure.” Right now, Guns N’ Roses are gearing up for their 12-date residency at the Joint at Hard Rock Hotel Las Vegas, which kicks off Halloween night. DJ Ashba says the residency provides a great opportunity for GN’R to get serious about writing music for their next album. “[The Vegas residency] is the first time we’re all gonna be in the same place for a month solid and that will be, and already has been talked about, our main focus,” he said. “So I think we’re gonna get a lot of done. He adds, “There’s a lot of stuff recorded and I think it’s just a matter of sitting down and working together as a band, putting together what we feel is gonna be the next best Guns N’ Roses record. And I can’t wait; I’m so excited to dive even deeper into that.” [button href=”http://loudwire.com/guns-n-roses-announce-fall-2012-las-vegas-residency/” title=”Next: Guns N’ Roses Announce Vegas Residency” align=”center”]
