Lostprophets Members Offer Statement on Singer Ian Watkins’ Multiple Child Sex Offense Charges

Lostprophets: Facebook Following the arrest of Lostprophets singer Ian Watkins for various unfathomable charges involving children, the rock world has held its breath with an unhinged discomfort. Facing some of the most heinous charges in recent memory, Watkins now finds himself sitting in a jail cell. Now, his bandmates have offered an official statement, citing their current “state of shock.” The official charges brought against Watkins include conspiracy to engage in sexual activity with a 1-year-old female, two incidents of “sexual touching” involving young children and possession and distribution of “indecent images of children,” along with “extreme” animal pornography. These charges are enough to cause any human being’s jaw to drop, and Watkins is now scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 31 after he and his two alleged female conspirators, aged 20 and 24, were denied bail. Lostprophets have just offered a written statement addressing the situation via their official website: Following charges made today against Ian Watkins, we find ourselves in a state of shock. We are learning about the details of the investigation along with you. It is a difficult time for us and our families, and we want to thank our fans for their support as we seek answers. Guns N’ Roses Kick Off Las Vegas Residency on Halloween Night

Chris McKay, Getty Images Guns N’ Roses have kicked off their nearly monthlong residency in Las Vegas. Beginning on Halloween night, the band ripped through a set where singer Axl Rose gave a far greater performance than he has at recent shows. After a highly criticized performance by Axl Rose at Neil Young’s annual Bridge School benefit show, which was widely distributed online at the expense of Rose, the singer proved that he can still deliver a quality vocal show at this first Vegas show. Additionally, the city of Las Vegas celebrated the Guns N’ Roses residency by temporarily renaming Paradise Road as Paradise City Road . The band ripped through a 29-song set that included covers of Pink Floyd’s ‘Another Brick in the Wall Pt 2′ and Neil Young’s ‘Don’t Let It Bring You Down.’ The show also allowed band members Tommy Stinson and Bumblefoot to take lead vocals on their own original songs. Guns N’ Roses’ residency at the Joint Las Vegas continues through Nov. 24. Norma Jean to Begin Recording Their New Album in December

Razor & Tie Georgian metalcore band Norma Jean have announced that they will begin recording their sixth studio album in December. Labeled after the birth name of iconic actress Marilyn Monroe, Norma Jean have been pumping out American metalcore for 15 years. Having released their breakthrough record, ‘Bless the Martyr and Kiss the Child,’ back in 2002, the band has kept a really strong fan base ever since the strong metalcore serge in the early 2000s. Frontman Cory Brandan recently posted the news on Norma Jean’s Facebook page: We will begin our last block of writing in 7 days, and will enter the studio in December. Norma Jean will be recording our next record with Joshua Barber out of Kansas City and will be in the studio all of December and January, save for the holidays. We’ve already met with Josh to go over ideas and have been keeping in contact with him regularly. He came down and sat in on our last writing session in September. We worked really well together and had tons of ideas. I’ll leave a link in the comments of something he’s done if anyone wants to check out some music. Thanks to all of you that have supported Norma Jean over the years. We still have a lot of momentum and can’t wait for you guys to hear these new songs. – Cory Former Norma Jean vocalist Josh Scogin recently released an awesome album with his current band, The Chariot . Guns N’ Roses Rock Acoustically for 2012 Bridge School Benefit

Theo Wargo, Getty Images The fun part of Neil Young ‘s annual Bridge School benefit is seeing acts who normally rock out attempt to pull off a fully acoustic performance, and that’s what fans got Saturday night when Guns N’ Roses unplugged for a rare stripped-down set for those on hand. Young’s annual event, which raises funds to aid in the education of severely handicapped children, returned to its yearly home in Mountain View, Calif. for the first of two nights. It was there where Jack White , Flaming Lips and others performed acoustic sets, but the real curiosity of the evening would be how Guns N’ Roses would handle it. How rare was the performance? Recently, guitarist DJ Ashba revealed , “A lot of the acoustic shows in the past, I would still play on the [electric] Les Paul — but for this, we’re going all acoustic, no electric anything. That’s how Neil [Young] envisioned the whole thing, so we’re gonna stay true to that, for sure.” The group worked up a seven-song set that surprisingly included such harder-edged tracks as ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ and ‘Paradise City.’ Other highlights from the performance included the rather funky opening number ‘You’re Crazy,’ the “sentimental” favorite ‘Used to Love Her’ and a really cool stripped down version of ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine.’ The band not only seemed to be having fun with the challenge, but also took in their surroundings as various members wandered to the side of the stage to play specifically to the students the show was benefitting. A number of videos from the performance have turned up online and can be seen below. Proceeds from the night will aid the Bridge School’s continued efforts in advancing the educational pursuits of severely handicapped children.
