Steel Panther Banging Out New Album

Universal Heavy metal’s living (as of this post) legends Steel Panther have been making progress on their upcoming third full-length album. Since the release of ‘Balls Out’ in October 2011, Steel Panther presumably have been celebrating the album’s success with mountains of cocaine covered in groupies, but after finally coming down from the binge, the Los Angeles quartet are back in the studio. Steel Panther have been on a roll since their debut release, ‘Feel the Steel,’ in 2009. They’ve captured the hearts and naughty parts of fans worldwide, even gaining enough votes in our 2012 Loudwire Music Awards to be declared Live Act of the Year , beating out legends such as Metallica , Tool and Iron Maiden . The heavy metal re-innovators teased that they’ve started recording a new ralbum on Feb. 12, posting an in-studio picture of a soundboard along with the message, “So it begins…” Steel Panther drummer Stix Zadinia has completed tracking his drums for the yet-untitled record, and according to a series of tweets from Zadinia, rhythm guitars are also done, with bassist Lexxi Foxxx next in line to lay down his parts. Testament’s Set List From Huntington, New York Live Album Performance Revealed

Nuclear Blast Records Testament took the stage at Huntington, New York’s Paramount Theatre Friday night (Feb. 15) with the primary goal of filming and recording the experience for an upcoming DVD and live album. In all, the band clocked in a 90-minute-plus performance and a set list from the show has now surfaced. As expected, there was a mix of older favorites and songs from the band’s latest album. The show began with ‘Rise Up,’ which serves as the lead off track from their most recent disc, ‘Dark Roots of Earth.’ ‘Native Blood,’ ‘True American Hate,’ and the ‘Dark Roots of Earth’ title track also made the night’s set list during the body of the show. The performance also featured a pair of encores, with the band rocking out ‘The Formation of Damnation’ during their first return and ‘Over the Wall’ and ‘Disciples of the Watch’ to close out the night. The still untitled live disc would be the band’s first concert release since 2009′s ‘Live at Eindhoven ’87.’ They also released their ‘Live in London’ DVD back in 2005 and ‘Seen Between the Lines’ on VHS in 1991. Though the entire show was recorded and the set list is offered below, things such as which songs make the cut and running order have not been decided. Singer Chuck Billy recently stated prior to the Huntington show, “We haven’t shot a live DVD or CD since our ‘Live in London’ release and we’ve had two killer albums since then. We thought it would be cool to put out a live DVD/CD focusing on the last three records (‘The Gathering,’ ‘The Formation of Damnation’ and ‘Dark Roots of Earth’) mixed in with a good amount of classics too. Last time we recorded anything live in America was for Live at the Fillmore on the West Coast. This time we thought we’d give the East Coast a chance to show the world how crazy and loud they can be. We’re going to be playing an extra-long 17 – 18 song set, which will be our lengthiest set of the tour. Let’s see all you thrashers stirring it up out there and singing along! See ya!” The band is currently on tour with Overkill , Flotsam and Jestam and 4ARM. The remaining dates of the trek can be seen here . Testament — Huntington, N.Y., Feb. 15, 2013 Set List: ‘Rise Up’ ‘More Than Meets the Eye’ ‘Burnt Offerings’ ‘Native Blood’ ‘True American Hate’ ‘Dark Roots of Earth’ ‘Into the Pit’ ‘Practice What You Preach’ ‘Riding the Snake’ ‘Eyes of Wrath’ ‘Trial By Fire’ ‘The Haunting’ ‘The New Order’ ‘D.N.R. Testament to Record Live Album in New York For 2013 Release

Facebook: Testament Testament are undoubtedly one of metal’s greatest live acts. Brandishing nearly unparalleled power throughout their live shows, Testament simply cannot be ignored when they take the stage. It’s been a few years since the thrash legends released a live album, the latest being ‘Live at Eindhoven ’87′ in 2009, but after the success of the band’s 2012 full-length, ‘Dark Roots of Earth,’ it only makes sense that Testament will be taping a new live record on Feb. 15. Testament boasts one of metal’s finest lineups when it comes to pure talent, with Chuck Billy on vocals, Alex Skolnick and Eric Peterson on guitars, Greg Christian on bass and the ‘Atomic Clock’ Gene Hoglan on drums. It would truly be a crime not to own a solid piece of history from this particular Testament lineup, so luckily, before the end of 2013, a new live album from the Bay Area thrashers will hit the shelves. “We haven’t shot a live DVD or CD since our Live in London release and we’ve had two killer albums since then,” comments Testament’s towering vocalist Chuck Billy. “We thought it would be cool to put out a live DVD/CD focusing on the last three records (‘The Gathering,’ ‘The Formation of Damnation’ and ‘Dark Roots of Earth’) mixed in with a good amount of classics too. See ya!” Testament are currently touring throughout North America with fellow thrash veterans Overkill . If you’re in the Long Island, N.Y. area, make sure to check out Testament at the Paramount on Feb. 15 to witness the making of the band’s live album in person! Tool Drummer Danny Carey Suggests New Album Will Drop in 2013, Talks About Vespa Crash

Frazer Harrison, Getty Images Tool fans were disappointed to say the least when singer Maynard James Keenan announced that there would be no release from the band in 2013. The modern experimental legends have been working on a new album for some time, and drummer Danny Carey says, along with a bunch of other news, that a 2013 release is still planned. When it comes to the upcoming Tool album, Carey stated that it is still planned to dropin 2013. “Sometime this year … that’s all I can say,” Carey tells TheRockFM about the record. “The sooner the better for us. We’re working everyday but you can never predict it, honestly. We’re really excited about it so I hope all the fans will be too.” Carey also reports that bassist Justin Chancellor has been the “main driving force” to get the album completed. Carey also told the radio station that he plays drums on the soundtrack to the upcoming Superman film ‘Man of Steel.’ In addition, he adds that Tool have a massive amount of live material that may be released on CD or DVD form in the future. “We have tons of stuff recorded,” says Carey. “I hope we do make that happen one of these days. We have lots of video stuff too, we could do a DVD or two whenever we get around to it. We’re kind of trying to focus on the new thing now, so we’ll go back at some point and do it.” In a separate interview with David Farrier , Carey spoke about an epic 20-minute piece being constructed for Tool’s next record. “We’re still – believe it or not! – still working on it,” the drummer says about the piece. “[Laughs] It’s like an ever-evolving thing, it’s probably going to turn into a thing that’s like, a big trilogy type of feel to it, sort of like ‘Disposition’ and ‘Intension’ and ‘Triad,’ like on the ‘Lateralus’ record or something. It will probably be over a 20-minute piece when it’s all finished, so it will be a good part of the record. We’re dealing with it in sections, but it’s coming together really well, we’re having lots of fun working on it, that’s for sure.” Finally, Danny Carey revealed that he was, in fact, the mystery Tool member that sustained injuries from what was reported as a Vespa accident . “It’s been tough lately because I cracked four ribs,” Carey begins, “broke three of them on a motorcycle the other day, so I am kinda laid up at this point, it’s making it really painful to play. It’s not an easy thing to do. [Laughs] … it was just over in the San Fernando Valley, I was just turning to go on the freeway, and I think I hit some antifreeze or oil or something, and the wheels just slipped right out from under me, and I just hit the pavement really hard. [Laughs] … Yeah, I’m still in one piece anyway, but I don’t know how lucky I was the way I feel right now [Laughs]. It’s pretty painful, but some painkillers and some scotch will get you through it.” Tool have also just announced a cluster of tour dates in Australia and New Zealand. Stay tuned for more news on the band’s upcoming record. Tool 2013 Australia + New Zealand Tour Dates: 04/27 – Melbourne, AUS – Rod Laver Arena 04/30 – Adelaide, AUS – AEC Arena 05/03 – Sydney, AUS – Allphones Arena 05/06 – Brisbane, AUS – Entertainment Centre 05/08 – Auckland, N.Z. – Vector Arena [button href=”http://loudwire.com/tool-danny-carey-backs-school-of-rock-kids-offers-album-update/” title=”Next: Danny Carey Jams With School of Rock Kids” align=”center”]

Sebastian Bach + Billy Idol Guitarist Steve Stevens Writing for New Album

Facebook: Sebastian Bach Sebastian Bach may be building up to the release of his live concert CD / DVD release, ‘ ABachalypse Now ,’ but there’s also plenty of fresh ideas floating around for the rocker at the moment. In a new studio update, Bach reveals that he’s been spending some time writing with Billy Idol guitar great Steve Stevens for his next record. Bach worked closely with talented young guitarist Nick Sterling on the 2011 album, ‘Kicking & Screaming,’ but the pair had a falling out toward the end of support for the record. Bach quickly replaced Sterling with guitarist Jeff George and it looks like the relationship with George will continue as well. In his latest studio update that he posted on his Facebook page , Bach wrote: Ideas are just starting to take shape for the next studio record. The legendary guitarist / great friend Steve Stevens has come up with one track so far that will definitely be on my next record. It is a kick ass cool rock ‘n roll song that I guarantee will make the hair stand up on the back of your neck. Just how I like it. We are going to work on more songs together too. Also my guitar player Jeff George has come up with a couple of great ideas that we will also be demoing very soon. We are really going to get cracking on the new material right away and have a new studio album out sooner than you think! I am so happy to collaborate with Steve he has always been one of my favorite guitar players! We are going out rock this bitch down to the ground in 2013 mother truckers! Bach has shared the stage with Stevens on occasion as part of the all-star covers band Camp Freddy and the pair performed a three-night stand in New York just last year.
