Chris Jericho, Scott Ian, Zakk Wylde, Lzzy Hale + More Star in 2013 Revolver Golden Gods Spot

Revolver Lord knows that many of the musicians taking part in this year’s Revolver Golden Gods have done their fair share of interviews overs the years, but in the commercial for the 2013 ceremony, they get to experience life from the other side of the microphone in what amounts to the world’s most metal press conference. The awesome and hilarious commercial finds host Chris Jericho concluding a press conference and then taking questions from “the media.” However, the media for this event are some very well known faces, with everyone from Anthrax ‘s Scott Ian to Halestorm ‘s Lzzy Hale throwing questions at the host. The spot offers a who’s who of the hard rock and metal genres, with Ian, Five Finger Death Punch ‘s Jeremy Spencer, Zakk Wylde , John 5 , In This Moment ‘s Maria Brink, Hale and Sebastian Bach all having speaking parts while various other members of Five Finger Death Punch, Halestorm and other bands can be seen in the background. The commercial in general offers a humorous look at not only some of the talent playing this year’s ceremony, but also mentions some of the major names like Metallica and Rob Zombie that will be receiving honors. The fifth annual Revolver Golden Gods Awards show takes place at Los Angeles’ Club Nokia May 2 and will air on AXS TV, XBOX Live and Facebook . For ticket information, click here . 2013 Revolver Golden Gods Awards To Honor Metallica, Rob Zombie + Tony Iommi

Theo Wargo / Michael Loccisano / Paul Kane, Getty Images The fifth annual Revolver Golden Gods Award Show looks to be the event’s biggest ceremony to date, as Metallica , Rob Zombie and Tony Iommi will be among the honorees. This year’s Revolver Golden Gods takes place May 2 at Los Angeles’ Club Nokia and also features a headlining performance by Metallica. Metallica have been chosen to receive the Ronnie James Dio Lifetime Achievement Award, joining such past honorees as Rush , Motley Crue , Lemmy Kilmister and Ozzy Osbourne . Drummer Lars Ulrich stated, “Since the Revolver Golden Gods Awards is fast becoming THE most rocking awards ceremony in the hard rock world, we are beyond psyched to be at the receiving end of this shout out and in the distinguished company of Rush, Lemmy, Ozzy and Motley Crue. I was hanging out and presenting at the shenanigans two years ago and the energy in the room and the vibe backstage was beyond f—ing cool, so Metallica is chomping at the bit to partake in this year’s event.” The Golden God award, given to an honoree that embodies the spirit of hard rock and metal, will be presented to Rob Zombie this year. “What can I say?,” said Zombie. “It is a complete honor to receive this award and have my name join the list of such legendary past winners as Alice Cooper and Gene Simmons . Pretty cool deal to be part of the Golden God club.” The timing of the ceremony will also work well for Zombie, who also used the opportunity to announce that his next album, ‘Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor,’ will drop April 23, followed by the release of his ‘Lords of Salem’ film on April 26. The night’s other major honoree, Black Sabbath ‘s Tony Iommi, will be adding the Riff Lord award to his mantelpiece. Iommi says, “What a great honor to receive the Golden Gods Riff Lord Award for 2013, especially with our new Sabbath album coming out. I hope there will be some new favorite riffs in these songs.” Last year’s winner of the Riff Lord honor was Slash . The evening will also feature performances from Metallica, Five Finger Death Punch , Anthrax , Stone Sour , Dillinger Escape Plan and Halestorm , with more acts expected to be added in the coming weeks. Fans can currently vote in 11 other categories (listed below) at goldengodsawards.com . Tickets for the show, which will once again be hosted by Fozzy frontman Chris Jericho , can be purchased here . The event will broadcast live on AXS TV, and also via Xbox Live and Facebook. Rockers Sebastian Bach and Dee Snider will host the red carpet event prior to the ceremony. In related news, the first-ever “Revolver Road to the Golden Gods Tour” was announced along with the naming of the nominees. Rush, Heart + Public Enemy Lead 2013 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Class

Mike Lawrie / Mark Davis / Stephen Lovekin, Getty Images The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced its class of 2013 inductees, and leading the charge are Rush , Heart and Public Enemy. There have been many fans on the hard rock and classic rock side who have been clamoring for Rush to get their due, and next year they will be among the class of new inductees. “It’s a terrific honor and we’ll show up smiling,” said vocalist-bassist Geddy Lee to Rolling Stone . “It made my mom happy, so that’s worth it.” Lee was well aware of the fan support to get them into the Rock Hall, adding, “It was a cause they championed. I’m very relieved for them and we share this honor with them, for sure.” Heart , like Rush, had been passed over on their first try, but sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson  & co. will enter the Rock Hall in 2013. Singer Ann Wilson said, “Some people have an idea of what the shape of rock and roll is supposed to look like. We’re not really it. Personally, that’s why I think it’s taken awhile … We’re always traveling and out there doing it. It can start to feel like you’re a tree falling in the forest, but nobody notices. So this kind of acknowledgement is really sweet.” On the rap side, Public Enemy became the fourth hip-hop act to be inducted, following Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Run-D.M.C. and the Beastie Boys . The group crossed boundaries with their collaboration with  Anthrax  on the rap-meets-metal single ‘Bring the Noise.’ This year’s other inductees include singer-songwriter-composer Randy Newman, disco queen Donna Summer and blues great Albert King. Also joining the Rock Hall are Quincy Jones and Lou Adler, both of whom will receive the Ahmet Ertegun Award for non-performers. The 2013 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place Apr. 18 at Los Angeles’ Nokia Theater and will air on HBO May 18. Meanwhile, finalists like Deep Purple, N.W.A. and Joan Jett didn’t make the cut for the 2013 class.
