Mark Tremonti: New Alter Bridge Album To Be Packed With ‘High Energy’ Songs

Liz Ramanand, Loudwire Mark Tremonti is currently winding down the latest North American tour leg for his self-titled band, and Alter Bridge  are about to become his primary focus. The guitarist tells Billboard that after meeting briefly earlier this year, the band is ready to resume work on a new disc and has the beginnings of the effort in place. He explained, “[We have] about five songs outlined [for the new album] … All of them are kind of real high-energy, just real fun rock/metal. We want to not be predictable. We want to make it a little surprising and we’re having fun with it.” At present, Alter Bridge are planning to regroup in late April and hope to begin recording their new album in earnest this summer, with a tour tentatively slated for September. As for the Tremonti band and their plans, the guitarist admits that he might line up some shows during breaks in Alter Bridge’s schedule, just as frontman Myles Kennedy is planning to do with Slash . “It’s always good when you’re recording a record to go take a break and come back,” says the guitarist. “That way you can make sure it’s still exciting and fresh to you.” The rocker says he’s also thinking about a second album from Tremonti, but admits that it will take a back seat to his other bands for the immediate future. “We’re going to just keep pushing the limits of what we can do,” says Tremonti. “We’ll try to be as heavy and progressive as we can without losing the vocal melodies and the reasons why most people listen to music. I don’t want to be just self-indulgent, but we want to have a lot of fun with it, too.” And as for his other band,  Creed , Tremonti simply states, “It’s Alter Bridge’s year.” [button href=”http://loudwire.com/tremonti-wish-you-well-video/” title=”Next: Watch Tremonti’s ‘Wish You Well’ Video” align=”center”]

Bring Me the Horizon ‘Dedicate’ New Song ‘Antivist’ to Former Guitarist Jona Weinhofen

Epitaph At first it might seem nice that Bring Me the Horizon decided to dedicate a song to a former member, but upon closer inspection of the lyrics of the track, it might not have been a good-natured move. During a recent show in Sydney, the band decided to close their set with ‘Antivist,’ with frontman Oli Sykes proclaiming, “This song is called Antivist.’ It goes out to Jona Weinhofen ,” while flipping the bird The guitarist’s exit from the band was revealed earlier this year , though a prior posting from Weinhofen revealed the acrimony between himself and unnamed members. He stated, “Things in the band have been very tense with a lot of disagreements between myself and certain members who I won’t name. I’m thankful for my time with BMTH and I have met many good friends and been able to travel the world.” As for dedicating the track to Weinhofen, it should be noted that the song features such lyrics as, “ United, we’ll fail, divided we’ll fall. We’re f—ed, but you’re makin’ it worse. United, we’ll fail, divided we’ll fall. Give up, cause you’re makin’ it so much worse .” Bring Me the Horizon are gearing up to release their new ‘Sempiternal’ album, with the single ‘Shadow Moses’ already making big waves. Trent Reznor-Guided ‘Beats’ Streaming Service to Launch in Summer 2013

Sean Gardner, Getty Images Interscope honcho Jimmy Iovine spilled the beans earlier this year that Trent Reznor ‘s involvement with Dr. Dre’s Beats by Dre service involved a new streaming service. Now comes word that the Beats Electronics service will be available beginning this summer. According to Billboard , Iovine revealed during Tuesday’s (Feb. 12) AllThingsD Dive Into Media Conference that the service would simply be called Beats (it had been previously given the tentative title Daisy) and would rely heavily on hand-curated lists in order to differentiate itself from such other streaming services as Spotify, Rhapsody, Muve and Slacker. “We are making tons and tons of curated lists,” said Iovine. “If you go to the gym, we’ll know where you are. So when you wake up in the morning, there will be a list waiting for you.” As for Reznor’s involvement, he’s serving as chief creative officer and is offering his expertise in helping to personalize playlists for each listener. As someone who is overseeing the curation of playlists, he’ll also study algorithms to help determine what might fit each person the best. Iovine stated that they wanted to “marry math with emotion,” and added, “Right now there are only mathematical solutions.” The label chief also explained that Beats plans to give artists access to user data, allowing them the ability to know exactly who their audience is and where their music is being used. Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder to Contribute Song to Christian Bale Film ‘Out of the Furnace’

Samir Hussein, Getty Images While we wait on new Pearl Jam music, frontman Eddie Vedder has found another creative outlet through the big screen. The vocalist, who has contributed music both as a solo artist and with his band to a number of films, is reportedly working on a song for the upcoming Christian Bale film ‘Out of the Furnace.’ The  Los Angeles Times reports that Vedder is writing and recording the solo track for the movie that’s expected to arrive in theaters later this year. The paper cited a source close to the production as stating that it’s likely a number of other Vedder tracks may also be used for the movie. The film, which stars Bale, Woody Harrelson and Casey Affleck, centers on two brothers from a working class Pennsylvania town that get caught up in a web of violent crimes. Vedder’s songs have been featured in the movies ‘Dead Man Walking’ and ‘Eat Pray Love,’ while the singer recorded an entire soundtrack for the film ‘Into the Wild.’ Earlier this year, Vedder stated that Pearl Jam were “halfway” toward finishing their next album, but the band’s members have repeatedly stated that they’re taking their time on the disc and enjoying a break until everyone feels ready to resume work. Regardless of the album progress, the band has begun lining up some new shows for this summer, including a date at Chicago’s Wrigley Field .
