Chris Jericho, Scott Ian, Zakk Wylde, Lzzy Hale + More Star in 2013 Revolver Golden Gods Spot

Revolver Lord knows that many of the musicians taking part in this year’s Revolver Golden Gods have done their fair share of interviews overs the years, but in the commercial for the 2013 ceremony, they get to experience life from the other side of the microphone in what amounts to the world’s most metal press conference. The awesome and hilarious commercial finds host Chris Jericho concluding a press conference and then taking questions from “the media.” However, the media for this event are some very well known faces, with everyone from Anthrax ‘s Scott Ian to Halestorm ‘s Lzzy Hale throwing questions at the host. The spot offers a who’s who of the hard rock and metal genres, with Ian, Five Finger Death Punch ‘s Jeremy Spencer, Zakk Wylde , John 5 , In This Moment ‘s Maria Brink, Hale and Sebastian Bach all having speaking parts while various other members of Five Finger Death Punch, Halestorm and other bands can be seen in the background. The commercial in general offers a humorous look at not only some of the talent playing this year’s ceremony, but also mentions some of the major names like Metallica and Rob Zombie that will be receiving honors. The fifth annual Revolver Golden Gods Awards show takes place at Los Angeles’ Club Nokia May 2 and will air on AXS TV, XBOX Live and Facebook . For ticket information, click here . Slayer’s Kerry King + Anthrax’s Scott Ian Share Dimebag Darrell Memories

YouTube Get  Slayer ‘s Kerry King  and  Anthrax ‘s  Scott Ian  in front of a camera together, and all you have to do is get out of the way while two hard rock legends talk — which is exactly what the producers at Fuse.tv did recently when King and Ian arrived in the studio to discuss their recent Metal Masters 4 concert. Ian and King touched on a number of subjects (or, as Fuse put it when titling the clip, ‘Scott Ian and Kerry King Talk Arrests, Booze & Strippers’), but some of their most heartfelt discussion centered around Dimebag Darrell . And while Darrell’s life ended in tragedy, the conversation focused on happier (and, it must be said, hazier) memories of the former Pantera guitarist’s life. “My normal rules went out the window when I played with those guys,” recalled Ian. “I would try to keep it to a minimum and say, ‘I’m not doing more than three shots with you before I play.’ But then they’re walking onstage and handing me drinks in the middle of a set or pouring ‘em down your throat. Any time I toured with those guys was the drunkest I’ve been in my life.” King chimed in, saying, “[Drinking] just made [Dimebag] loose. It got him in the vibe to play.” Ian went on to discuss an epic night at a strip club with Darrell and some other famous friends, including Gene Simmons of Kiss and Motley Crue ‘s Tommy Lee : “We ended up in a private room and for three or four hours I’m sitting next to Dime with a stripper on my lap constantly. There never wasn’t a girl on my lap and there was always someone refilling my drinks. I remember saying to somebody afterward, ‘Who paid for that? What did we do?’ And the next day in the New York Post I saw a story, ‘Tommy Lee dropped 28 grand at Scores last night.’ So I guess I owe Tommy a thank you.” Scott Ian & Kerry King Talk Arrests, Booze & Strippers

What If Everyone Had Scott Ian’s Beard?

Megaforce For a long time, Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian has sported one of metal’s most celebrated beards. Once predominantly black, these days Ian has taken a more natural approach to the beard, allowing some gray into the mix. Ian’s beard deserves a prominent spot in some sort of Rock and Roll Facial Hair Hall of Fame next to James Hetfield’s goat-like chin-plant and Kerry King’s whimsical bristles. Few possess the pure manliness to grow such a beard. The dedication involved is staggering in itself, no doubt taking many months or even years to cultivate. But what if everyone was able to grow a beard like Scott Ian? Obviously we would all grow one, but what would it look like on some of the world’s most recognizable faces? A beard of this stature deserves the upmost reverence, so we’ve decided to attach Ian’s breathtaking chin-locks to various lucky recipients. So, what if everyone had Scott Ian’s beard? They’d look something like this: Dave Mustaine Lars Ulrich Marilyn Manson Smashing Pumpkins Axl Rose Jay Leno Barack Obama

Scott Ian: ‘This Will Be the Only Version of Anthrax Until There Is No Anthrax’

Liz Ramanand, Loudwire Anthrax have been on a hot streak after reuniting with singer Joey Belladonna in 2010. The band has since toured around the world, with high-profile slots on the Big Four concerts and the 2012 Mayhem Festival, along with releasing the critically acclaimed 2011 album ‘Worship Music.’ With the current lineup remaining strong, guitarist Scott Ian has declared, “This will be the only version of Anthrax until there is no Anthrax.” Scott Ian recently spoke with the Georgia Straight about the return of Joey Belladonna and his strongest traits as a frontman. “There’s a certain maniacal energy that Joey has onstage,” says Ian, “and that’s his thing. I mean, if I just compare him to our contemporaries in the Big Four, between James [Hetfield] and Dave Mustaine and Tom Araya you’ve got three frontmen that are all attached to the microphone—but Joey’s all over the place onstage. He’s a maniac, and I always felt like that was one of the things that gave us the kick in the ass we needed way back when to be able to break through and make it, so to speak.” Ian also spoke about how if the current lineup ever changes, Anthrax will cease to exist. “I’ve gone on record saying this will be the only version of Anthrax until there is no Anthrax,” claims Ian. “That’s how I feel, absolutely, in my heart. I don’t see why we would do anything different. This band sounds so great; we made a great record. And I’m super-excited about the future of this band creatively.” Anthrax are currently on the latest leg of their  North American tour with fellow thrash legends Testament and Death Angel. Anthrax’s Scott Ian to Record Comedy Metal Album With Funnyman Brian Posehn

Frazer Harrison, Getty Images Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian has enjoyed working with metal-loving comedian Brian Posehn on a couple of tracks in the past and those good times have led the metal icon to reportedly sign on for a full album with the comedian. Metalinjection.net reports Posehn revealed the collaboration during a visit to SiriusXM’s Liquid Metal studio. In the past, Posehn roped in Ian for the songs ‘ Metal by Numbers ‘ and ‘ More Metal Than You ‘ on his previous albums, and this time rather than bolstering his comedy with the songs, they’re planning a full “comedy-metal” release. Posehn told host Jose Mangin that one of the songs will be titled ‘Satan Is Kind of a Dick,’ and that there will also be some metal covers on the album, though perhaps not glaringly obvious ones. For instance, on his last album, Posehn amped up the wattage on Kenny Rogers’ ‘ The Gambler ‘ to give it that metal feel, and he revealed that he and Ian had discussed the possibility of giving a metal spin to the A-Ha classic, ‘ Take on Me .’ The comedian says there may also be a few other metal cameos on the effort, but he wasn’t ready to divulge who just yet. Though a title or release date have yet to be announced, Posehn confirmed that the disc will come out through Megaforce Records.
