Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong Gives His First Post-Rehab Interview to Rolling Stone

Rolling Stone Magazine Green Day ‘s Billie Joe Armstrong is about to re-enter the music world with a spring tour and an appearance at Austin’s South by Southwest on the schedule next month, but the rocker, fresh from a rehab stint, is now speaking about the issues that forced him to seek treatment and leave the touring life last fall. In the new issue of Rolling Stone , the frontman details his years of alcohol and prescription drug abuse. He recalls, “I couldn’t predict where I was going to end up at the end of the night. I’d wake up in a strange house on a couch. I wouldn’t remember how. It was a complete blackout.” Armstrong’s issues came to a head at the iHeartRadio festival in Las Vegas last year when he delivered an onstage tirade that included the smashing of instruments and a thorough tongue-lashing of festival organizers who had a clock counting down the band’s set time. Shortly after the incident, the band apologized and Armstrong sought treatment. He says of the Vegas show, “I remember tiny things. The next morning, I woke up. I asked [my wife] Adrienne, ‘How bad was it?’ She said, ‘It’s bad.’ I called my manager. He said, ‘You’re getting on a plane, going back to Oakland and going into rehab immediately.’” The full Rolling Stone interview with Armstrong arrives on newsstands this Friday. Kid Rock Presents Wounded Warrior With New Michigan Home

Rick Diamond, Getty Images Kid Rock ‘s generosity knows no bounds, especially when it comes to his hometown of Detroit and by extension his home state of Michigan. The rocker’s good will was on display again recently when he teamed with Pulte Homes and Operation Finally Home to have a new home built for a returning “wounded warrior” and his family. MLive.com reports that Sgt. Davin Dumar, an Army vet who lost his left leg and injured his arm after an improvised explosive device went off, first learned that his family was in the running for a new home last fall. According to a CNN report (seen below), Dumar and his wife were one of a handful of couples under consideration for the home, having undergone a series of interviews to be chosen. The couple was on their way to a model home, presumably for one final interview, when they were greeted by Rock and representatives from Pulte Homes and Operation Finally Home who were there to share the news that they had been selected and to show them the designs of their new home. Rock stated, “My heart is pumping just to be part of it. Just to work with Dan [from Operation Finally Home] to make it happen for someone like Sgt. Dumar here, so deserving.” For his part, Dumar shared his shock at the events of the day, adding, “I’m completely surprised. I certainly didn’t think I’d be having a cigar with Kid Rock today.” MLive reports that after construction started late last year, the couple recently moved into their Macomb Township home. Primus Frontman Les Claypool Mourns the Death of His Nephew

Noel Vasquez, Getty Images Primus frontman Les Claypool is sad to report that his nephew Matthew has passed away after struggling with Infant’s leukemia for the past two years. The bassist-singer brought Matthew’s struggle to light last year when auctioning off one of his basses to raise funds to help offset his brother’s family’s mounting medical costs. Claypool auctioned one of his rare protype Pachyderm basses hoping that it would fetch a large sum and it did with the winning bidder raising the price to $50.6K. During the bidding process itself, Claypool posted online at how overwhelmed he was by how far people were willing to go to help out . In his Facebook posting , Claypool reveals that young Matthew died Friday (Feb. 8) while staying at the St. Jude’s Hospital in Memphis. His message reads as follow: Hello everyone, I am sad to report that my little nephew Matthew Pierce who has come to be known as Baby Matthew has passed on from complications related to his more than two year struggle with Infant’s leukemia. He passed this evening (Friday, February 8) just after 7pm pacific time at St. Jude’s Hospital in Memphis Tennessee. My heart aches for my Brother Ron, his wife Aimee and his kids Isaiah, Noah and Lilly. It has been an extraordinarily tough road for my Bro and his family and I want to thank everyone who has reached out to help them over the past couple years. The amount of support they have received has been phenomenal and very touching. Matthew was a tough little guy who beat the odds for much longer than anyone every thought. Because of him and his tenacious struggle, there has been more knowledge accumulated in the procedures of how to treat Infant’s Leukemia and the potential for survival is that much greater. Even though he was just a tot, he has done a great service to those future children who may be misfortunate enough to contract this mysterious and deadly disease. Thank you all once again for your kind thoughts and generosity. Les Claypool Meanwhile, Matthew’s parents posted their own update at the BabyMatthew.org website. It reads as follows: The Lord has decided that this sweet boy has suffered enough and he took him home tonight. We are so broken but I find much comfort in knowing that tonight…right now he’s laughing…running…playing the drums to his heart content. It was such an honor to love and cherish someone as special as Matthew Robert Pierce. Momma loves you. Our precious baby Matthew was born on July 14, 2010 at 2:59pm, Weighing a healthy 8lbs 13oz and 21 inches long to parents Ron Pierce and Aimee Grijalva and brother to Izahia and sister Noa. They were so happy and had the family they always dreamed of. On September 22, 2010 after a follow up doctor’s appointment their dream became a nightmare, Baby Matthew was airlifted to Stanford and the family was told the worst news anyone could ever imagine. Baby Matthew was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) and was now fighting for his life. At only 2 months old he is fighting the odds and doctors are calling him a “miracle”. Baby Matthew and his family have a long road ahead of them. We ask that you please keep them in your prayers, and if you would like to donate to help with expenses, we would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for all your prayers and support. To read more about baby Matthew, additional information on leukemia or to make a donation, click here . Randy Blythe Trial, Day 2: Deceased Concertgoer’s Friends Testify Against Lamb of God Frontman

Liz Ramanand, Loudwire As Lamb of God singer Randy Blythe ‘s Czech manslaughter trial remains in session, local media continues to cover the case’s developments from inside the courtroom. As we reported, Blythe began his trial yesterday (Feb. 4), claiming his innocence, and now there are new details to share from Day 2 of the trial. Czech news site Blesk.cz  has just put up a rundown of what occurred on Day 2 of Randy Blythe’s trial, which was full of witnesses testifying about the 2010 concert incident. Blythe was supported in court by his wife, Cindy, his parents and Lamb of God drummer Chris Adler , who took the stand yesterday to testify on behalf of Blythe. Various friends of the deceased concertgoer, known as ‘Daniel. N,’ gave their testimonies as well, holding Blythe responsible for Daniel’s death, which they say was caused by head trauma suffered at a 2010 Lamb of God show after Blythe allegedly pushed Daniel offstage. Yesterday in court, Blythe blasted security at the venue, saying they made no effort from stopping fans from jumping onstage. While he acknowledged there was an incident or two with another fan who rushed the stage at the show, he said he never made contact with Daniel. In today’s testimonies, one friend of the deceased fan stated, “He [Randy Blythe] pushed him off the stage. Dan fell on the back of his head. After the concert was over, something wasn’t right about Daniel and we called an ambulance.” One witness also claimed that Blythe asked Daniel if he was okay after taking the fall, and when Daniel replied, “Yes,” Lamb of God continued with their performance. According to The Gauntlet , All three witnesses offered different versions as to what actually transpired, but they were all in agreement in claiming that Blythe was “very aggressive during the concert.” “One person was kicked, and another strangled on stage,” one witness claimed. All three witnesses also denied that any announcement was made by venue staff to not climb over barricades, get close to security or to make their way onto the stage. Stay tuned for our continued coverage of Randy Blythe’s Czech trial. Baroness Members Deliver Surprise Performances at Converge and Neurosis Shows in Philadelphia

BaronessMusic.com Decibel Magazine recently celebrated their 100th issue with an insane concert in Philadelphia, a show we dedicated ourselves not to miss. The show’s lineup itself was incredible, presenting Converge , Pig Destroyer , Repulsion, Municipal Waste , Tombs + Evoken live, but the most incredible parts of the evening came from Baroness frontman John Baizley , who offered not only a surprise speech, but shared the stage with Converge for the song ‘Coral Blue.’ After Pig Destroyer grinded the Philly crowd into a brutal dust, John Baizley took a microphone right before Converge started their set to share his passion for the band and their newest album, ‘All We Love We Leave Behind.’ Having suffered through serious injuries after Baroness’ tour bus crashed in England last year, Baizley revealed how crucial ‘All We Love We Leave Behind’ was to both his physical and metal rehabilitation. Baizley addressed the crowd: About five months ago, I was in a f—ing bad wreck. I was laid up in the hospital for while; too long. I was going through what I would describe as the worst thing, mentally and physically, that one could go through, at least in my opinion. There came a point where I needed something to get past the hump that I was in, you know, just this state of depression or pain or whatever it was, and so I thought, ‘Well, music is this thing that’s meant to soothe the savage beast,’ and I had my wife bring me an iPod collection of mellow songs; Emmylou Harris, just old country stuff mostly. I put the headphones in and listened to it, and what was happening was not soothing at all in any way, shape or form. It was harsh and it was grating, and in that first moment when I was trying to listen to something relaxing and trying to get myself through a very difficult time, I became scared s–tless and I thought that I had lost the ability to enjoy music and I had lost the magic that music had over me. I think it was about three-and-a-half weeks after the crash, I had the new Converge record [‘All We Love We Leave Behind’] and I was like, ‘Well, Emmylou is not doing it for me, let’s try the opposite.’ And that record brought me back into the fold. Thank you for writing music that truly inspires, and I mean this when I say this, that truly rehabilitates, not just offers me a release from aggressions or from bulls–t, but something that helps me look forward to tomorrow when today is as tough as it gets. Near the end of Converge’s set, the band invited Baizley onstage to sing and play guitar for ‘Coral Blue,’ easily the most Baroness-like track from Converge’s 2012 album. As extra proof of Baroness’ massive desire to return in full-force, Baizley and fellow Baroness guitarist Pete Adams opened for the legendary Neurosis the night in Philly. Watch the footage from that show here . Check out both Baizley’s speech and his performance with Converge in the videos below. Keep feeling better, John! We can’t wait to see Baroness take the stage once again. Fire at Ozzy Osbourne Home Possibly Extinguishes $12 Million Sale to Pop Star Jessica Simpson

Kevin Winter / Jamie McCarthy, Getty Images Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne were recently the victims of a fire at their Beverly Hills home after forgetting to put out a candle before going to bed, but according to new sources, the ‘Prince of Darkness’ and his wife were not the only ones affected by the blaze. Pop singer Jessica Simpson was reportedly interested in buying the Osbourne’s house for $12 million, but since the fire, Simpson apparently has reconsidered. As we reported recently, early in the morning on Jan. 17, a candle within a glass vase exploded in the Osbourne’s home, causing a small fire which left Ozzy with singed hair, no eyebrows, minor burns to his face and a setback to an existing hand injury. Sharon described the fire on her TV show ‘The Talk’ the very same day it occurred, characterizing her and Ozzy’s attempt to put out the fire as something out of ‘The Three Stooges.’ In an interesting addition to the story, Jessica Simpson, who was contemplating buying the Osbourne’s home, is now having second thoughts. An unnamed source reportedly offered a myriad of quotes to RadarOnline : When Jessica and Eric heard about the fire they were as equally as disappointed as the Osbournes. They were planning on making an offer on the mansion somewhere in the region of $12 million, because they felt it was the perfect family home. Now, they’re going to have to assess the damage before committing, even though they heard it is pretty minimal. Jessica does have her sights set on the property but she is now looking elsewhere. She’s also a believer in fate and is wondering if the fire was a sign that she shouldn’t buy it and wait for something else to come on the market. It’s a shame for Sharon and Ozzy – they were ready to sell. In the meantime. Ozzy is set to release a new album with his legendary band  Black Sabbath . After months of suspense, the metal godfathers confirmed that they will be releasing a new album, ’13,’ in June of this year.
