For Today Guitarist Mike Reynolds Leaves Band After Firestorm Over Anti-Gay Comments

Fortodayband.com For Today guitarist Mike Reynolds stirred up quite a bit of controversy responding on Twitter about the decision of President Barack Obama choosing Rev. Louie Giglio to deliver the benediction at his inauguration. Giglio’s past anti-gay messages resulted in pressure from the LGBT community, and the Reverend has since bowed out of the opportunity. Reynolds’ commentary turned into his own views on homosexuality and religion and sparked quite a bit of outrage. After reading a Dallas Voice article on the situation, Reynolds offered a series of tweets that read, “Don’t be deceived, homosexuality is a sin. This sin with all other sins is what Jesus died for. He conquered so that we would be free. No such thing as a gay Christian, the same as there is no such thing as a Christian who loves his sin. Don’t be fooled by the formation of a state church as though the government is being converted, they only use the name Jesus for their progressive liberal agenda. If you are a Christian then separate yourself from this civil religion that advocates sin. Be true to God.” The comments sparked some outrage online, including a commentary from Enter Shikari vocalist Rou Reynolds (no relation). “The thought that we actually toured and shared the same stage as this musician in 2011 now makes me feel a bit nauseous,” said the outraged singer. “There is obviously no place in our modern metal, punk, hardcore, rock (whatever you want to call it) scene for homophobia. In fact, there should be no place for these views anywhere full stop, especially not in music.” The vocalist would add, “Music is a beautiful tool to educate ourselves with … so to anyone spouting these divisive and disgusting views, I say simply but vehemently, please educate yourself or put down your instrument.” To read Reynolds full commentary, click here . After quite a bit of backlash that resulted in a band statement and singer Mattie Montgomery’s own video apology to their fans (which can be viewed below), the For Today guitarist stepped down from the group. A statement from the band read: Mike Reynolds is no longer a part of For Today. He has decided that now is the time for he and his wife to put their plans in motion to enroll in Bible college, and to begin working toward full-time missions work in the Middle East. Mike will be replaced by longtime friend of the band, and former In the Midst of Lions guitar player, Sam Penner, who will be appearing with the band as they headline their upcoming Fight The Silence tour. Facebook: Metallica Metallica fans Dennis Ortiz and his wife Annette Ortiz-Diaz created quite an Internet buzz when they got hitched in 2010. After making their entrance as a married couple, the two joined the wedding band to jam Metallica’s ‘Master of Puppets’ at their own wedding reception and the video, seen below, went viral. Both Dennis and Annette are seasoned musicians both with many bands under their belt. According to Blabbermouth.net , Dennis even had a Metallica tribute band called Trapped Under Rice, showing his allegiance to the band. When Metallica played their week of intimate fan club shows at the Fillmore in San Francisco, Calif., last year, Dennis and Annette even had the opportunity to join the band that inspired them so much. During the Dec. 10, 2011, show, drummer Lars Ulrich played their video and invited them up onstage. Annette took over the drum kit while Ulrich recorded the video for the excited couple and then joined in on a second kit. The two were performed ‘Blackened’ from ‘…And Justice for All’ live with the band. Now, the metal inspired Mr. and Mrs. are back with a very special new video, announcing the birth of their son, aptly named Dax Orion Diaz. Papa Roach Unveil ‘Before I Die’ Video

YouTube Papa Roach are ending 2012 with a little video extravaganza. Earlier this month, fans got the ‘ Where Did the Angels Go ‘ clip and now, getting in just under the 2012 deadline, there’s a new video for ‘Before I Die.’ The promo itself finds a grieving Jacoby Shaddix haunted by visions of lost love, often to his own detriment. Playing it close to the lyrical concept of the song, the video shows Shaddix expressing his heartbreak by chasing his visions into dangerous situations in an attempt to hold onto the past. Earlier this year, Shaddix told Loudwire about ‘Before I Die,’ “I was going through a separation with my wife during the process of making the record. Fast forward to the present and we’re working it out now, but in the process of making this record we were separated. I was at the end of my rope; I was in a lot of pain. This music is where I found my sanctuary, where I could express myself and just take myself out it for a second and not feel the pain and just be creative. During the process of making this song, ‘Before I Die’ I felt like everything was taken from me and I was just left out there raw and broken, it made everything clear to me, what really mattered to me.” ‘Before I Die’ is a key song for Shaddix as the vocalist says it spurred a change in his life. He explains, “At the end of the day it’s the people that I love in my life that are the most important to me and sometimes when you treat the people that you love the most the worst, that’s the wrong path. I had to take a long hard look at myself and realize how I was living my life and make those changes. Just being out there on my own and having those realizations, that’s where the song came from.” ‘Before I Die’ appears on ‘ The Connection ‘ album and likely will be part of the band’s performances when they begin their 2013 North American touring with Stone Sour . Trent Reznor To Unleash New Nine Inch Nails Songs on Hits Collection Prior to Next Album

Michael Buckner, Getty Images It’s always difficult to predict the next move of Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor . Along with his legendary industrial group, Reznor’s discography includes making music with his wife for How to Destroy Angels and creating original scores for feature films. Now, Reznor has officially announced that he is planning to release new Nine Inch Nails songs on an upcoming best-of compilation. In a new feature on Reznor,  New Yorker  magazine [via Spin ] reports the following: ”In 2014, Interscope Records will release an edition of the band’s greatest hits, to which Reznor intends to contribute two new songs. Then he plans to write music for a new record.” In the same article, Reznor talks about his new partnership with hip-hop mogul Dr. Dre and his ‘Beats’ brand. It’s revealed that Reznor has been developing a music streaming project, tentatively titled ‘Daisy.’ The platform aims to help users sort through songs in a way that differentiates it from services like Spotify. “‘Here’s 16 million licensed pieces of music,’ they’ve said, but you’re not stumbling into anything,” says Reznor of the other platforms. “What’s missing is a system that adds a layer of intelligent curation . . . As great as it is to have all this information bombarding you, there’s a real value in trusted filters. It’s like having your own guy when you go into the record store, who knows what you like but can also point you down some paths you wouldn’t necessarily have encountered.” Stay tuned for more news on Reznor and his multitude of projects as news breaks.
