Trent Reznor Reboots Nine Inch Nails With Members of Jane’s Addiction, King Crimson + More

Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com Trent Reznor has just unveiled some drop-to-your-knees-and-praise-the-lord-type of exciting news. He has confirmed that Nine Inch Nails  are officially rebooted with a fresh, all-star lineup, blending previous NIN collaborators along with new members plucked from celebrated acts such as Jane’s Addiction , King Crimson and Puscifer . And as if that wasn’t cool enough, Nine Inch Nails are also set to embark on a U.S. tour beginning this summer. The new Nine Inch Nails collective is a prominent one, with seasoned NIN members Alessandro Cortini (keyboards / synth / guitar / bass) and Ilan Rubin (drums) continuing their legacies with Reznor’s brilliant industrial act. In addition to the trio, Nine Inch Nails have welcomed former Jane’s Addiction bassist Eric Avery, King Crimson multi-instrumentalist Adrian Belew and Puscifer / Telefon Tel Aviv musician Josh Eustis into the group. In a note from Trent Reznor posted on Pitchfork , the sonic brainiac explained the newly revamped version of Nine Inch Nails: Nine Inch Nails are touring this year. I was working with Adrian Belew on some musical ideas, which led to some discussion on performing, which led to some beard-scratching, which (many steps later) led to the decision to re-think the idea of what Nine Inch Nails could be, and the idea of playing a show. Calls were made to some friends, lots of new ideas were discussed, and a show was booked – which led to another, which somehow led to a lot of shows. The band is reinventing itself from scratch and will be comprised of Eric Avery, Adrian Belew, Alessandro Cortini, Josh Eustis, Ilan Rubin, and me. The first shows will begin this summer, followed by a full-on arena tour of the US this fall, and lots of other dates worldwide to follow through 2014. Lots of details and dates to come. See you soon. TR Prior to all the Nine Inch Nails awesomeness, Trent Reznor’s side project with wife Mariqueen Maandig , Rob Sheridan and Atticus Ross –  How to Destroy Angels  – will release their debut full-length album, ‘Welcome Oblivion’ on March 5. That outfit has also scheduled a number of North American dates for 2013. Included in the new album are several tracks from the band’s recent EP, ‘ An Omen ,’ including the past singles ‘ Keep It Together ,’ ‘ Ice Age ‘ and ‘The Loop Closes.’ The EP’s ‘On the Wing’ also makes an appearance on the album, as well. The Mariqueen Maandig-led track is more of a moody, contemplative cut from the point of view of someone trying to move beyond a troubled past without unveiling themselves to others. The group also revealed a futuristic video for the track directed by Shynola. In the clip, a young man appears left to fend for himself amidst a treacherous and dark landscape until he happens upon another man just trying to survive as well. The video may be seen below. How to Destroy Angels To Release Debut Album ‘Welcome Oblivion’ in March

Facebook: How to Destroy Angels After teasing fans in recent years with a pair of EPs,  How to Destroy Angels have revealed their plans for their first full-length album. The group, featuring Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor , revealed in a posting at their website that the new disc, titled ‘Welcome Oblivion,’ is expected on March 5. While that was all that was revealed about the long-anticipated album, the group has dug a little deeper into 2012′s ‘ An Omen ‘ EP, with a trippy new video for the track ‘The Loop Closes.’ Just as the song is filled with all sorts of digital blips and bleeps, the accompanying video offers something visually similar, with quick cutting and often blurred or mangled images of animals, natural disasters, eyeballs, human limbs and even the shadowy faces of the band’s members. The video can be seen below. The clip follows the band’s more story-driven video for ‘ Ice Age ,’ which arrived last fall. That promo found the band members in a remote cabin, with singer Mariqueen Maandig looking out the window as the climate began to shift into something similar to the song’s title. Speaking about How to Destroy Angels last year, Trent Reznor explained, “We’ve just been chipping away at this thing, and it’s been a nice pressure release valve really to have something to dump this energy into that doesn’t fit the other containers. It’s been fun.” Watch How to Destroy Angels’ ‘The Loop Closes’ Video [button href=”http://loudwire.com/trent-reznor-how-to-destroy-angels-new-single-keep-it-together/” title=”Next: Watch How to Destroy Angels’ ‘Keep It Together’ Video” align=”center”]

Trent Reznor To Unleash New Nine Inch Nails Songs on Hits Collection Prior to Next Album

Michael Buckner, Getty Images It’s always difficult to predict the next move of Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor . Along with his legendary industrial group, Reznor’s discography includes making music with his wife for How to Destroy Angels and creating original scores for feature films. Now, Reznor has officially announced that he is planning to release new Nine Inch Nails songs on an upcoming best-of compilation. In a new feature on Reznor,  New Yorker  magazine [via Spin ] reports the following: ”In 2014, Interscope Records will release an edition of the band’s greatest hits, to which Reznor intends to contribute two new songs. Then he plans to write music for a new record.” In the same article, Reznor talks about his new partnership with hip-hop mogul Dr. Dre and his ‘Beats’ brand. It’s revealed that Reznor has been developing a music streaming project, tentatively titled ‘Daisy.’ The platform aims to help users sort through songs in a way that differentiates it from services like Spotify. “‘Here’s 16 million licensed pieces of music,’ they’ve said, but you’re not stumbling into anything,” says Reznor of the other platforms. “What’s missing is a system that adds a layer of intelligent curation . . . As great as it is to have all this information bombarding you, there’s a real value in trusted filters. It’s like having your own guy when you go into the record store, who knows what you like but can also point you down some paths you wouldn’t necessarily have encountered.” Stay tuned for more news on Reznor and his multitude of projects as news breaks.
