Metal Video of the Year – 2012 Loudwire Music Awards

Who says the music video is a dead artform? MTV may not show them anymore, but thanks to the Internet, bands can still deliver some stunning clips, as evidenced by the nominees in the Metal Video of the Year category in the 2012 Loudwire Music Awards. We’ve got five nominees for this category, and in these videos you’ll be exposed to time travel, phallic evisceration, octopus transplants, assault rifles, Jesus Christ’s motorcycle-riding twin brother and much more. Check out the nominated videos and be sure to vote in the poll below: Dethklok, ‘I Ejaculate Fire’ Dethklok are metal’s most beloved animated band, and in their video for ‘I Ejaculate Fire,’ a pharaoh receives pleasure from a demon woman, giving the Egyptian leader the power to eviscerate anyone and anything with his naughty bits. ? High on Fire, ‘Fertile Green’  It’s hard to believe that High on Fire made a video as good as this song ‘Fertile Green’ itself, but the motorcycle riding, time traveling, clairvoyant, stillborn brother of Jesus Christ made it happen with some tripped out imagery to top it off. ? Job for a Cowboy, ‘Tarnished Gluttony’ This video is legitimately terrifying. If you’re easily disturbed by creepy and violent imagery, you may want to skip this one. Otherwise, this incredibly detailed video from Job for a Cowboy offers fascinating subtextual commentary on the nature of man and religion. ? Machine Head, ‘Darkness Within’ Machine Head ‘s video for ‘Darkness Within’ may have the best production standards of any metal video released this year. Along with style, the video for ‘Darkness Within’ contains a full serving of substance. ? Pig Destroyer, ‘The Diplomat’  High on Fire and Dethklok aren’t the only acts to feature time travel in their music video; Pig Destroyer toyed with the concept, as well, for ‘The Diplomat.’ In this vid, a deranged businessman introduces assault rifles to psychedelic primates, with brilliant results. ? Voting for the 2012 Loudwire Music Awards closes on Jan. 15 at 11:59 PM EST. Fans can vote once per hour, so keep coming back to make sure your favorite band wins! As I Lay Dying’s Tim Lambesis Remembers Suicide Silence’s Mitch Lucker

Spencer Kaufman, Loudwire / Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com In the wake of last week’s death of  Suicide Silence frontman Mitch Lucker in a motorcycle crash, his peers in the metal community are sharing their memories of the late singer. As I Lay Dying  frontman Tim Lambesis spoke with Kaaos TV  (watch below) about Lucker after a concert in Finland. “Mitch and I have a lot of similarities,” Lambesis said. “We grew up in the same area. We both have the same kind of dogs. He gave me very kind compliments on how when their band first started that I inspired him in some way or another, whether it be this type of stage performance he has or… I would assume more just the energy; the music sounds a bit different.” One of the similarities Lucker shared with Lambesis was the love of riding motorcycles. “I’ve been riding Harleys for four years or so, and Mitch more recently got into riding and started riding more. And again, [that was] another similarity and something we were able to [share]… As friends, it’s good to have those things in common.” “When I get home from this tour, I usually look forward to getting home and getting on my motorcycle and just going for a drive,” Lambesis continued. “I don’t know if I’m gonna really enjoy that the same way, you know?!” Suicide Silence and As I Lay Dying would have been on the road together this fall as part of the 2012 Outbreak Tour , which kicks off Nov. 16 and also features Asking Alexandria, among other acts. A candlelight vigil was held in Lucker’s memory last week in Huntington Beach, Calif. Lucker’s wife Jolie Carmadella says it’s probable the crash was alcohol related. “He was an alcoholic, and it’s been a big battle. I tried to stop him. I was in front of him begging him not to leave the house. Begging him, ‘Just seriously, for us, don’t leave,’ and he did. And this is what happened.” She added, “It’s a wake-up call. He was an amazing man. He was a wonderful father and a great husband, and now he’s gonna miss out on watching [our daughter] Kenadee grow, because he decided to drink and ride. Just don’t. Just think before you guys do something stupid. Please learn from this. Please.” Watch Kaaos TV’s Interview with Tim Lambesis [button href=”http://loudwire.com/suicide-silence-singer-wife-reveals-he-drank-alcohol-before-motorcycle-crash/” title=”Next: Mitch Lucker’s Wife Speaks at Candlelight Vigil” align=”center”]

Suicide Silence’s Mitch Lucker Saluted with Candlelight Vigil

Century Media Hours after the death of Suicide Silence singer Mitch Lucker, his friends, family and fans began to organize tributes to the vocalist to honor his memory. In Huntington Beach, Calif., where Lucker perished on his motorcycle, fans and some of his family members gathered for a candlelight vigil at the light pole that the singer hit. Among those in attendance were Lucker’s wife Jolie and his five-year-old daughter Kendalee. Meanwhile, back in Riverside, Calif., where Lucker grew up, family members gathered to celebrate his life. According to reports, Lucker was riding his 2013 Harley-Davidson on Main Street Wednesday night when he hit a light pole near the intersection of 13th street. After impact, the motorcycle continued to slide south and struck a pickup truck coming the opposite direction. The frontman was seriously injured and treated by paramedics before passing away at 6:00AM the following morning. According to Blabbermouth , the singer’s wife, Jolie Carmadella, said that the singer had made the decision to drink and ride. She explained that she didn’t know why he left home Wednesday night and didn’t know where he was going, but she did reveal she found some empty containers at home. When asked what message she had after Lucker’s death, she replied, “Just make the right choice. Don’t hurt your family. Don’t drink and drive.” Sharing his fondness for motorcycles, Lucker told Alternative Press in a recent interview, “The danger in it [attracts me]. Being a frontman in a band, you get addicted to adrenaline rushes. When you’re onstage, there’s not more of a rush. When I get home from touring, I need to find something to match that so I don’t get my adrenaline withdrawals. Being exposed to every element of danger while your sitting on a motor — that, to me, is freedom.” Footage of the Mitch Lucker tributes can be seen in the video clips below.
