The Darkness Frontman Justin Hawkins Falls Off Stage in Sweden

Ilya S. Savenok, Getty Images The Darkness are known for their boundless energy and bringing their all to their live shows, but frontman Justin Hawkins’ enthusiasm got the better of him at a recent show in Stockholm, Sweden when he took a tumble into the crowd. Hawkins can be seen in the video footage below galloping around the stage to the beat of the song, trying to amp up the crowd, but he appears not to have realized how close he was to the front of the stage and quickly disappears from view. However, the fall happened perfectly to where the backing vocals would be featured first. The singer was quite the trooper though, still delivering his parts while regaining his bearings and eventually crawling back onstage to continue the track without missing a beat. The Darkness are currently on a world tour in support of their ‘Hot Cakes’ album. However, guitarist Dan Hawkins recently revealed that the band intend on entering the studio early next year to make sure they have a quick turnaround between discs. The Darkness Making Plans for 2014 Album

Jo Hale, Getty Images The Darkness ‘ reunion will continue beyond their ‘Hot Cakes’ album and guitarist Dan Hawkins says that fans shouldn’t expect too long of a turnaround before a new record arrives. The guitarist tells Billboard , “I think it’s important the next album comes out quickly. ‘ Hot Cakes ‘ has been a great introduction to let people know we’re back. Now we need to keep the output up, really.” To that end, Hawkins says the band members have already started looking head to the next release. He explains, “Every day we set up our little [portable] studio and start jotting down ideas. It’ll be out in 2014. This year we’ll be touring and writing, then early 2014 we’ll hopefully be recording it or continuing to write it and get it out later that year.” As for what he’s expecting, Hawkins says, “I think we want to get even more old school. We want to make it even more of a performance record. We just want to be really brave and try to do something as live as humanly possible, warts and all. We’ve lost a bit of that in music today. It’s time to get a bit of character in there, so we’ll be going for something as f—ing Route 1 as possible.” Hawkins says he doesn’t envision any of their past problems resurfacing, adding that the band members are “settling into a nice groove.” He adds, “The music is on 11, the gigs are on 11, but the drug intake is on, like, zero to one. That’s how it should be.” The group is currently on tour and will remain on the road in the U.S. through early February. Dave Grohl to Perform With Corey Taylor + Others During Sundance Film Festival Set

Theo Wargo / Kevin Winter, Getty Images The ‘Sound City’ soundtrack is definitely star-studded, so when Dave Grohl revealed that he would have several guest stars join him for a concert celebrating the premiere of his ‘Sound City’ documentary at the Sundance Film Festival, there was naturally a lot of questions about who would be part of the Sound City Players . Now, after a little bit of arm twisting, it’s so far been revealed that Corey Taylor , Taylor Hawkins and Alain Johannes will be among those joining Grohl in Park City, Utah, for the gig on Jan. 18. Grohl has been updating fans about his band practices, but finally bowed to a little pressure with a Facebook update that stated, “Pics or it didn’t happen, you say? Right now, band practice.” Accompanying the quip was a studio photo of Grohl performing with his longtime Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins and Queens of the Stone Age multi-instrumentalist Alain Johannes. In addition, the Salt Lake Tribune  confirmed the participation of Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor. According to the paper, Taylor himself revealed his participation. The singer has enjoyed the Sundance experience in the past, taking the stage with the all-star covers band Camp Freddy several years ago. The fact that Grohl is performing with either Hawkins or Johannes should come as little surprise given the length of the relationship and association the singer has kept up with both musicians. Plus, the fact that both artists appear on multiple cuts on the ‘Sound City’ soundtrack makes them a natural fit for the show. For those trying to connect the dots with other potential guests, Hawkins appears on songs that feature Stevie Nicks , Rick Springfield and Fear’s Lee Ving on the soundtrack, while Johannes contributes to tracks featuring Ving and Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme .
