Grammy’s Have Become Hard To Watch

Last night was the 2014 Grammy Awards and it was very hard to watch. The show has become so ridiculous and of course the award show snubs Heavy Metal and Hard Rock. The Grammy Award show even managed to ruin the closing artists performance, as usual. Dave Grohl, Trent Reznor, and Queens of the Stone […]

Dave Grohl Talks ‘Sound City’ Documentary and More on ‘The Colbert Report’

Comedy Central Dave Grohl has been all over TV recently. Supporting his new documentary, ‘Sound City,’ which chronicles the legendary albums that have been the recorded at Sound City Studios, Grohl graced ‘The Colbert Report’ stage on Feb. 13 to promote the film. Prolific musician and rock’s most lovable overachiever Dave Grohl was in New York City last night to perform with the Sound City Players, a group of musicians who have recorded at Sound City Studios, including Grohl’s Foo Fighters bandmates, Rage Against the Machine drummer Brad Wilk , Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic , Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks, rock legend John Fogerty + many more. Before the NYC performance, however, Grohl stopped by ‘The Colbert Report’ for an hilarious interview with host Stephen Colbert. Having recently finished guest-hosting the E! talk show ‘Chelsea Lately’ for a week, Dave Grohl answered Colbert-esque questions such as, “You sold 30 million copies of Nirvana’s ‘Nevermind’ alone, why not phone it in and get fat?” and “Do you think about the [‘Nevermind’] sessions now and go, ‘Why didn’t we turn up the drums?’” After naming off a litany of artists who recorded on Sound City’s board such as Rage Against the Machine, Barry White and the now-imprisoned Charles Manson, Grohl shot the funny right back at Colbert. “The first thing we had to do when we got it [the Sound City board] was open it up and scrub all the cocaine and fried chicken out of it,” Grohl joked. “And that was just Barry White!” Check out Dave Grohl’s full interview with Steven Colbert via the video player below. Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl Collaborates With RDGLDGRN on New Song ‘I Love Lamp’

John Shearer, Getty Images Dave Grohl may be the hardest working man in the world of rock. Along with his highly decorated careers with Nirvana , Foo Fighters , Queens of the Stone Age , Probot, Them Crooked Vultures and many others, Grohl recently premiered his ‘Sound City’ documentary at the Sundance Film Festival, with the film now available to see in select theaters. Taking on yet another project, Grohl collaborated with Washington, D.C., group RDGLDGRN to record the song ‘I Love Lamp.’ RDGLDGRN (short for Red Gold Green) are a D.C.-based rock, hip-hop and punk hybrid who take influence from acts such as Bad Brains, Vampire Weekend, the Neptunes and many more. The trio entered Sound City Studios to record their music, and managed to catch the ear of Dave Grohl, who would end up playing drums for RDGLDGRN’s upcoming self-titled EP. The track’s title, ‘I Love Lamp,’ is a reference to a line from the Will Ferrell modern comedy classic ‘Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy,’ spoken by Steve Carell’s character Brick Tamland. Although there are no direct lyrical connections to the film, the song’s title will surely catch attention, as Carell’s line is among the most repeated and beloved comedic references of the last decade. As for the song itself, ‘I Love Lamp’ is a smooth and up-beat anthem which is both well-written and radio-friendly. If you’re looking for a sunny-day track to warm you up during bleak winter weather, you might find some solace from the elements within the track. Soundgarden Unveil ‘By Crooked Steps’ Video Directed by Dave Grohl

VEVO Nothing says badass like a “gang,” but director Dave Grohl takes a little bit of a sting out of those troublemaking lads from Soundgarden by having them cruise the streets on Segways in the band’s latest video for ‘ By Crooked Steps .’ Grohl, whose own band the Foo Fighters have had their fair share of offbeat and funny clips, puts his stamp on the clip with his own sense of humor. The musician-director has the Soundgarden bad boys park their Segways, stroll into a club and immediately confront the laptop DJ whose spinning tunes for those in attendance. The frightened DJ scurries away before Soundgarden take the stage and truly rock the audience with their plugged in instruments. But the DJ won’t be defeated as of yet, calling the cops on the Segway-riding toughs. The band eventually eludes the cops and escapes the venue, but they’re not totally off the hook as a slow-speed police chase follows before they finally give up. It pays, however, to watch to the very end of the clip for a special guest cameo from a certain EDM superstar posing as the arresting officer. Soundgarden are currently in the midst of their first North American tour of 2013, promoting the ‘King Animal’ album. They’ve also signed on to play the Rock on the Range festival in May.
