Universal Live Act of the Year proved to not only be one of the most popular categories of the 2012 Loudwire Music Awards, but also the most surprising in terms of the final result. With monster acts such as Metallica and Slipknot breathing down their necks, comedic heavy metal act Steel Panther have captured the crown of Live Act of the Year. Anyone who has seen Steel Panther live understands not only how hilarious and raunchy the show is, but also the technical prowess of each member. Steel Panther’s live performance is tighter than their spandex pants, and bringing female fans who will flash their boobies onstage doesn’t hurt either. A huge congratulations is due for the saviors of heavy metal, Steel Panther. November 8th, 2012 Metalkult Universal Steel Panther are off to a solid start with their first-ever DVD, ‘ British Invasion ,’ as the release landed at No. 2 on the Billboard Top Music Video chart. And the band is making it worth your while to pick up the home video early, since the initial run of the DVD comes with a limited edition cover that will be available only while supplies last. Steel Panther thankfully expected the demand and have inflated their stock to meet the requests of their fans. In addition to it’s high position on the U.S. chart, the DVD also debuted at No. 3 in the UK, and is the only new offering that went Top 5 worldwide. The DVD was shot over a two-year period with 16 HD cameras, and primarily focuses on the group’s legendary 2010 performance at London’s Brixton Academy. There’s also footage from throughout their world tour and the set comes with a hilarious documentary following the band on their adventures. Loudwire recently premiered the video for ‘ Fat Girl ‘ from the DVD. The instantly infectious track has been known to leave fans singing along about an evening of questionable choice. October 29th, 2012 Metalkult Universal Sunset Strip heavy metal humorists Steel Panther are about to blast fans in the face with the awesome concert film ‘British Invasion.’ Steel Panther lovers have been anxiously awaiting the ‘British Invasion’ DVD, which took the band over two years to film, as they began the project in March 2010. Graciously giving fans a sneak preview of the film, Steel Panther are unleashed live footage from the song ‘Fat Girl,’ exclusively through Loudwire. The tale of ‘Fat Girl’ has taken many forms, as the inspiration for the song has been attributed various members of Steel Panther over the years. Whether the ‘Fat Girl’ stigma falls upon vocalist Michael Starr, drummer Stix Zadinia, or any other Panther, the band boasts a bitchin’ track that leaves many singing along while hazily remember a night of questionable choices. ‘British Invasion’ was directed and produced by Daniel E.
