Bad Religion Perform New Song ‘Past Is Dead’ on ‘Late Night with Jimmy Fallon’

Epitaph Punk rock legends Bad Religion made an awesome appearance on ‘Late Night With Jimmy Fallon’ last night (Jan. 30) to perform the new song ‘Past is Dead’ from their sixteenth studio album, ‘True North.’ Bad Religion have been putting out solid records for over 30 years, and with hardcore fans still cemented into the band’s foundation, ‘True North’ gave the group their highest Billboard 200 debut in their history. In the first week of release, ‘True North’ hit No. 18 on the chart, selling 18,295 copies of the album. Killswitch Engage Unleash New Single ‘In Due Time’

Liz Ramanand, Loudwire Killswitch Engage ‘s reunion with former vocalist Jesse Leach is off to a rocking start thanks to the newly unleashed single, ‘In Due Time.’ The band officially posted the track online Wednesday (Jan. 30), giving their fans a taste of what the upcoming ‘ Disarm the Descent ‘ album will sound like. Leach’s ability to alternate between guttural screams and melodic singing is on full display on the track, with some powerhouse belting in the verses and a clean delivery in the chorus. As for the song itself, in some ways it mirrors the anticipation felt by Leach’s return. The vocalist sings, “ All in due time / I see the world through different eyes / All in due time / Shadows will give way to light .” ‘In Due Time’ will officially be able for fans to pick up as a single on Feb. 5, which is nearly two months in advance of the April 2 release date of ‘Disarm the Descent.’ The group recently revealed the cover art for the album, which can be seen here . The album is the band’s first with Jesse Leach since their 2002 effort, ‘Alive or Just Breathing.’ Leach reunited with the band in early 2012, taking over for former vocalist Howard Jones, who fronted the band for a full decade. Leach has stated, “To me, this is by far my best vocal performance, much thanks to [guitarist/producer] Adam [Dutkiewicz]‘s guidance and faith in my abilities. Marilyn Manson Files Defamation Lawsuit Against Woman Who Claimed They Were Engaged

Frazer Harrison / Allen Berezovsky, Getty Images Earlier this month, Marilyn Manson reached out via his lawyer demanding a public apology from Seraphim Ward (real name Yolanda Tharpe) for spreading false stories about him in the press. Now that that hasn’t happened, he’s following through on a defamation lawsuit against Ward. According to the Hollywood Reporter , the complaint was filed Tuesday (Jan. 29) in Los Angeles Superior Court. Manson claimed he was the target of “a months-long campaign of defamation and harassment.” It’s also stated that Manson does not know Ward, whose occupation is listed as musician and independent occult filmmaker in the complaint. Ward’s claims first got attention when she stated in a widely circulated story that she was engaged to the rocker. Though Manson and his representatives denied he even knew Ward, that apparently didn’t stop her from continuing to make claims concerning Manson, including accusations that he is ‘pro-Nazi’ and racist. According to the filing, Ward did eventually retract the engagement announcement, but later made public accusations that Manson refused to marry her because he “did not want to be seen with [African-American] women” like her. She also claimed that he was responsible for the death of her two cats and that he was stalking her. The rocker is reportedly seeking $50,000 relating to five cases of defamation, misappropriation of common law right of publicity, unlawful use of Manson’s name for commercial advantage, and intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress. Drowning Pool, ‘One Finger and a Fist’ Lyric Video – Exclusive Premiere

Facebook: Drowning Pool It looks as though Drowning Pool  are maintaining their aggression with new singer Jasen Moreno leading the way. The new track ‘One Finger and a Fist’ is an amped up rocker and Drowning Pool are exclusively premiering the lyric video for the song right here at Loudwire. ‘One Finger and a Fist’ could arguably be one of the band’s most confrontational songs, boasting the lyrics, “ I’ve got news for you / you’re not the first one, won’t be the last / Won’t take abuse from you / I see you run, son, you’re running fast .” The band also states in the chorus, “ One finger and a fist / I’ll claw my way out any situation .” For the video, the lyrics fly at the viewer at rapid speed while set against the backdrop of computer generated visual effects mimicking hands, arms and a certain finger that appear occasionally independent of a full body. ‘One Finger and a Fist’ was offered as a free download for a limited period back in December. It’s also one of the key tracks to their first album with Moreno on vocals. Other cuts that have been heard since Moreno took over include ‘In Memory Of …, ‘ a song that was issued as a tribute to the band’s original frontman, the late Dave Williams, and their recent single, ‘ Saturday Night .’ Drowning Pool will hit the road  in February, sharing the stage with another act employing a new vocalist — Flyleaf . The trek runs through March 24. Details on Drowning Pool’s new album are expected very shortly. Hatebreed, ‘The Divinity of Purpose’ – Album Review

Razor + Tie Hatebreed are back in a big way in the form of ‘The Divinity of Purpose,’ the Connecticut mosh ‘n’ stomp hardcore band’s first disc for new label Razor & Tie. It’s anthemic, full of sing-along choruses and lyrical declarations, chunky riffing, battering ram drumming and more breakdowns than an insane asylum. It’s a totally moshable affair, comprised of tight, efficient and make-their-point-and-move on songs. The album opens with the blazing ‘Put It to the Torch,’ with frontman Jamey Jasta inviting you to burn off everything that threatens to take you down. It’s followed by ‘Honor Never Dies,’ which sounds like it could have fit nicely on the band’s 1997 full-length debut ‘Satisfaction Is the Death of Desire’ or even the 2002-issued follow up ‘Perseverance.’ It’s a true first-pumper, reminding you that “Sometimes, standing for what you believe / Means standing alone.”  The unity that hardcore bands often pay lip service to takes actualized sonic form on ‘The Divinity of Purpose.’ On ‘Own Your World,’ Jasta asks, in robust, communal sing-along fashion, “Who’s got more heart than you?” and we can just imagine ‘Breed pits erupting with fists in the air, karate kicks being thrown and every person, regardless of their age or gender, singing along, declaring, “Fists up / Head high / We own the f—ing world tonight” –   further proof that Hatebreed know how to construct a deep groove and a catchy chorus. ‘The Language’ begins with Slayer-inspired riffing, and is somewhat similar to ‘Doomsayer’ from ‘The Rise of Brutality,’ with its somewhat more complicated guitar work. But it’s still moshtastic just the same. ‘Dead Man Breathing’ has a similar construction, as well. At 12 tracks, ‘The Divinity of Purpose’ is subcompact and makes its points and moves on. It’s quick pacing, and short, shotgun-blast songs, make it the type of record you blast in the car on a road trip. But you might want to be careful, since the fury in the songs will find you stepping on the gas pedal a little heavier and you might end up with a ticket for your troubles. Other stand out tracks are the razor sharp ‘Before the Fight,’ where Jasta barks, “End the fight / Before the fight ends you,”  or the old school punk rager ‘Indivisible,’ which borrows a little, homage-style, from Agnostic Front. The title track boasts some vocal effects, which help Jasta’s message rise to the top. Hatebreed have been delivering choppy, boot-to-the-throat moshcore for nearly two decades and they have returned to their signature, simple but slaughtering hardcore style, with an uplifting message on the album, as it is what made them one of the crucial bands of the ’00s. You can kick up dust in the pit and then just chill out with a frosty beverage afterwards, since a ‘Breed record always fully cleanses you of any anger or aggression you may have. If that ain’t sonic therapy, we don’t know what is.

Nikki Sixx Takes New Creative Direction With ‘Schecter Sixx’ Bass

Kathy Flynn, WickedGoddessPhotography.com Nikki Sixx is a man of many passions, as evidenced by his career as a successful author, photographer and radio host as well as the musical work he’s best known for as a member of Motley Crue and Sixx: A.M . On Saturday (Jan. 26), Sixx was able to reveal his latest creative venture, the new ‘Schecter Sixx’ signature series bass , during the NAMM convention in Anaheim, California. In a roundtable discussion with a handful of media outlets, including Loudwire, Sixx spoke about his transition from being a longtime supporter of Gibson to taking an active role in the creation of his new bass with Schecter. The bassist revealed, “I was very loyal to Gibson for a lot of years, [but] towards the last few years it sort of became … the quality of the instrument became not very consistent and it became frustrating for me … some would sound great and some wouldn’t.” Over time, Sixx says he began to consider making a change and after meeting with Schecter, he knew he had found a kindred spirit. “When I met with Schecter it was like an instant fit where we really seemed to understand each other,” says Sixx. “[We agreed on] what was best for the consumer, the player, as well as for me, as for the fit of what I feel the bass is about and we put together this bass and this is it. I’m really excited.” The bassist says that making an all-purpose instrument was the big key for him, adding, “I wanted to have it not only for me in recording, but for other players to have a little bit of versatility. I loved the kill switch in my other basses. I just hotwired everything past the volume and the tone so that I could just on-off. But when I get in the studio that didn’t necessarily work for me, so I would reach for another bass at times. So I wanted this bass to be the bass while I’m recording and I’m always recording. I think with technology we’re always laying down ideas now, so I didn’t want to have to search out a different instrument for that.” Sixx says he also loved incorporating the P Bass pickups in the rear position with the EMG’s up front to provide a little more flexibility. He’s also fond of the sleekness of the instrument and how the weight-distribution has made it less neck-heavy. Overall, Sixx says he’s very satisfied making the transition to Schecter, concluding, “I just enjoy being creative. Whenever I can get in a circle with other creative people and just jam and see stuff happen, it’s really exciting. What’s been really exciting about Schecter and working with the design of the bass, we’re talking about the sound and the feel and how the company works together in delivering the message, that’s all creative stuff. Killswitch Engage Unveil Cover Art for Upcoming Album ‘Disarm the Descent’

Roadrunner The upcoming sixth album from  Killswitch Engage can certainly claim the distinction of “highly anticipated.” It was recently revealed that the disc will be titled ‘Disarm the Descent’ and be released on April 2, but another piece of the puzzle has been released in the form of the album’s cover art (pictured here). ‘Disarm the Descent’ will be Killswitch Engage’s first album in 11 years that features returning vocalist Jesse Leach , the singer having left the metal act shortly after their 2002 full-length ‘Alive or Just Breathing.’ Since Leach’s triumphant return to the band at the 2012 New England Metal and Hardcore Festival, the revamped Killswitch have proven themselves as a solid live act, but now fans will get to hear Leach’s studio work on ‘Disarm the Descent.’ The cover art for the upcoming album was designed by Killswitch Engage bassist Mike D’Antonio, which depicts a veiled female figure with flames coming out of her chest. The artwork is stunning and harnesses a gritty a scratched up style fitting of the group’s sound. “To me, this is by far my best vocal performance, much thanks to Adam’s guidance and faith in my abilities,” Jesse Leach says about the new album. “I am very grateful to be where I am in life, back in an amazing band with a record we are all excited for the world to hear.
