HIM Unleash New Track ‘Strange World’

The End Records It has been a long wait for HIM  fans, but the band has released the new track ‘Strange World’ off of their compilation album ‘XX – Two Decades of Love Metal.’ ‘Strange World’ is the Finnish love metallers’ first dose of new material since 2010, and the track is laced with signature HIM melodies and tones. The song itself was originally released by Kevin Grivois, known by the artist name Ké, in the 90s. It’s said to be one of the personal favorites of HIM frontman Ville Valo. HIM are have released their share of cover tracks, such as their notable renditions of Chris Isaac’s ‘Wicked Game,’ Blue Oyster Cult’s ‘(Don’t Fear) The Reaper’ and the Ramones’ ‘Poison Heart.’ ‘Strange World’ starts off with Linde Lindstrom’s clattering and screaming guitar riffs that lead into Valo’s deep vocals, as he delivers the first verse backed by rattling bass lines provided by Mige Paananen. Valo offers softer vocals for the chorus as he sings,  “Strange world / People talk and tell only lies / Strange world / People kill an eye for an eye / Strange world / Dream one day we’ll see the light / Strange world / Believe and everything will be alright.” Drummer Mika ‘Gas Lipstick’ Karppinen provides a steady stream of snare and sizzling cymbals behind the skins that add to the strength of the track. The song ends on a strong note as Valo sings,  “Burn these thoughtless tears out of my eyes / Still I wonder, wonder why.” Even though the lyrical content doesn’t necessarily cover love or death, as HIM songs typically do, the band’s rendition of ‘Strange World’ retains the balance of pain and beauty that HIM have delivered over their storied career. Sister Sin, ‘Now and Forever’ – Album Review

Victory Records Swedish metal outfit Sister Sin  have unleashed their brand new album ‘Now and Forever’ via Victory Records, and the disc holds true to the band’s rough and tough sound with the power to back it up. The disc starts off with ‘MMXII,’ Roman numerals for ’2012,’ then turns into the fast paced anthem ‘End of the Line,’ which happens to be the lead single off of the new record. “ F— you / F—k them and f—k the world, too / Do I look like some b—- to you ” is just the beginning of ‘Fight Song,’ one of the most raw and hard hitting tracks on ‘Now and Forever.’ The momentum and pace of the entire record continues to ascend when and takes the listeners to new heights with hard-rocking, balls-out tracks such as ‘In It for Life,’ ‘Hearts of Cold’ and ‘Hang ‘Em High.’ Frontwoman Liv Jagrell can croon and yell with the best of them and her no-nonsense, rough-around-the-edge deliverance of lyrics is not to be messed with. While the crunchy riffs, pounding bass lines and thunderously swift drum patterns of her talented bandmates further heighten the energy of the album. Sister Sin’s tunes have an old-school vibe with a refreshing new melodic twist. This balance is evident in tracks like ‘The Chosen Few,’ ‘I’m Not You,’ ‘Running Low’ and ‘Shades of Black.’ ‘Now and Forever’ ends with the incredible piano-driven ballad ‘Morning After,’ beautifully sung by Jagrell as she shows off yet another facet of her vocal abilities. In our exclusive interview , Jagrell says that to her the title of the album means, “We are here now and hopefully forever. We won’t give up.” From beginning to end, ‘Now and Forever’ serves as stellar representation of Sister Sin’s perseverance throughout their music career. ? ? Avenged Sevenfold Unleash New Song ‘Carry On’ for ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops II’ Video Game

Warner Bros. Records Avenged Sevenfold have kept a fairly low profile this year but they did find some time to contribute a new track for the latest edition in the ‘Call of Duty’ video game series. The new Avenged Sevenfold tune ‘Carry On’ will be featured in ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops II’ due out on Nov. 13. Fans don’t have to wait that long to hear the new song though – listen below. Avenged Sevenfold are no strangers to the ‘Call of Duty’ gaming series, crafting ‘Not Ready to Die’ in 2011 specifically for the game’s ‘Call of the Dead’ expansion pack. While nothing official has been released regarding the writing process for ‘Carry On,’ it sounds like it may have followed the same path, with the game’s story line serving as its inspiration. The speedy rocker starts off with raging guitar riffs courtesy of the dueling prowess of guitarists Synyster Gates and Zacky Vengeance before M. Shadows vocals kick off the epic tune of strength, spirit and power. ‘ Search endlessly, fight ‘til we’re free ,’ Shadows wails out over shredding guitar and pounding drums leading up to a massive guitar solo fit for a royal-as kicking. The vivid imagery that Avenged Sevenfold ceremoniously paint with their music seems to pair perfectly with modern-day video games so it’s no surprise that the ‘Call of Duty’ franchise came calling again. The song certainly provides something for fans to sink their teeth into as the band gets ready to work on a follow-up to 2010′s ‘Nightmare.’ Listen to Avenged Sevenfold’s ‘Carry On’
