Godsmack’s Sully Erna To Release Limited Edition ‘Avalon’ Box Set
October 10th, 2012 Metalkult Ethan Miller, Getty Images Godsmack singer Sully Erna is extending the life of his ‘Avalon’ solo album with a limited edition box set . Only 5,000 copies of the collection will be sold, and Erna had done his best to pack the box sets full of material that will bolster its value for those who purchase it. Described as “the ultimate Sully Erna fan package,” the box set includes a full performance of the ‘Avalon’ record live from Boston’s Wilbur Theatre that was recorded last December. During the set, the singer displayed his many musical talents by tackling drums and piano, as well. The collection also includes the ‘Sully Erna: Journey to Avalon’ documentary, ‘The Making of Avalon Live’ featurette, and seven discs of material in total. There’s also a bloopers CD, an audio CD of the album, and plenty more. As if that weren’t enough, Erna is also packing the collection with a number of collectible items. Fans will get a coffee table book, hat t-shirt, guitar pick, poster, incense, Sully’s biography, a commemorative backstage pass, and a Sully Erna necklace. The entire set comes in a custom metal Sully Erna-engraved box with a suede lining. Tremonti have released a new video for ‘So You’re Afraid,’ the follow-up single to ‘You Waste Your Time.’ The live video footage was recorded at Groovemaster Studios in Chicago, Ill., showing the band in a pretty laid back atmosphere allowing the music to take center stage. According to Blabbermouth , the riff in ‘So You’re Afraid’ may sound a little familiar. That’s because a version of it was used in Tremonti’s recent instructional DVD as a riff exercise. Clearly the riff has developed into a full blown song and serves as the backbone for the high-energy, pounding, rocker that offers up a taste of his metal roots and influences. Mark Tremonti has proven himself as a true triple-threat and continues to shine with his songwriting, vocals and lead guitar for the solo-based project. Tremonti is currently out on tour in support of their debut disc ‘All I Was,’ released on July 17. Bassist Wolfgang Van Halen has joined the trek due to Creed and Alter Bridge bassist Brian Marshall running into personal issues before the dates kicked off. The U.S. leg of the tour has wrapped up and now Tremonti heads overseas for shows in England, Germany, Indonesia and more; check out all of the remaining dates here . October 10th, 2012 Metalkult A&M/Octone Records After debuting the title track several weeks ago right here on Loudwire, Flyleaf have announced that release date for their latest album ‘New Horizons’ will be Oct. 30 via A&M/Octone Records. The second single ‘Call You Out’ is now available, as well (listen below). “’Call You Out’ was one of the first songs written during the ‘New Horizons’ sessions,” says bass player Pat Seals. “The stomping opening verse evolved over time into this aggressive but very calculated track that closes with Sameer using chaotic guitar sounds to sort of burn it to the ground – engages you all the way through.” Seals also spoke with Loudwire about the title track and the theme of the album. “A lot of the album is different [musically] from the song [‘New Horizons.’] I think, lyrically, [that song] is indicative of the rest of the record. It’s all about rebirth and how you embrace new horizons. It’s about letting go of old things and embracing the future. Sonically, it’s a pretty good spectrum of variety.” ‘New Horizons’ is Flyleaf’s first album since 2009′s ‘Memento Mori.’ The band took a break after singer Lacey Sturm had a baby in 2011, then regrouped earlier this year. They entered the studio with producer Howard Benson ( Halestorm , Papa Roach ) and recorded ‘New Horizons’ in just six weeks. Seals says the process for this album went really smoothly. “Even though the length of time between albums was longer — three years — the process itself felt a little shorter and easier and it felt like the songs were coming out of us instead of us trying to make them come out. Before, we were it felt more deliberate. October 10th, 2012 Metalkult Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com Two years after he underwent an emergency procedure there to repair bleeding around his brain — and a year after he returned for heart surgery — Poison frontman Bret Michaels dedicated a new hospitality and music room at St. Joseph’s Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Ariz. Michaels was on hand for the ceremony on Tuesday (Oct. 9), along with Patty White, the hospital’s president and CEO, who told him, “We want to welcome you back this time for a celebration.” After thanking the neurosurgeon who saved his life, Michaels unveiled the Bret Michaels Hospitality and Music Room, “whose sole purpose is to provide comfort, serenity and peace to families that are going through a very trying time in their lives.” The singer was instrumental in the room’s design, right down to the decor — which includes photos and magazine covers of Michaels and his family, televisions playing Michaels concert footage, and Michaels quotes such as, “Raise your hands, rejoice and rock as if there is no tomorrow” and “Respect the past, dream the future, live in the moment.” “I think Bret has really inspired so many people with his recent medical illnesses and his remarkable recovery,” said Joseph Zabramski, the doctor who operated on Michaels’ brain. “And he will continue to inspire, particularly patients and their families who come here to Barrow and use this room to find peace and comfort during their stay with us.” [button href=”http://loudwire.com/bret-michaels-get-your-rock-on-video/” title=”Next: Watch Bret Michaels’ ‘Get Your Rock On’ Video” align=”center”]

And while that is certainly wonderful news, it just might be what Ozzy Osbourne ‘s son did days after wedding that is truly remarkable. Jack and his buddy helped save the life of a woman who had a heart attack and started to drown in the surf on the Hawaii beach where he’s been enjoying his honeymoon. Jack’s new bride, Lisa Stelly, with whom he had a child earlier this year, broke the news via Twitter , where she told followers, “Really proud of Jack and his friend Tyler who saved a woman on the beach yesterday who’d had a heart attack and drown [sic].” She later followed with another status update, adding , “They resuscitated her until the ambulance came. We just found out she’s in a stable condition! Awesome!” Earlier this year, Jack revealed that the shocking news that he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis . It was then reported that NBC subsequently fired him from its reality series ‘Stars Earn Stripes’ shortly thereafter, but if anyone deserves a reality show, it just might be Jack. All the excitement also happened to take place around the same time Sharon Osbourne was celebrating her 60th birthday on her daytime show ‘The Talk.’ Jack appeared on the show with his baby Pearl via a video message, while Ozzy and Kelly Osbourne made surprise appearances in the flesh.
