Bullet for My Valentine, ‘Temper Temper’ – Album Review

RCA Bullet for My Valentine are clicking on all cylinders on their new album, though the band readily admits the title ‘Temper Temper’ comes from some of the internal friction within the group. But rather than letting things fester, they turned lemons into lemonade by allowing it fuel the creative process. Fans of the group may already be familiar with the title track and ‘ Riot ,’ the first two songs released off the record. ‘Temper Temper’ was a solid introductory choice from the band, showing off their speedy guitar work and Michael “Moose” Thomas’ cymbal-heavy drumbeats, with the pacing of the song mirroring what it feels like when you’re just about to explode. ‘Riot,’ meanwhile, is arguably the album’s best song and a natural choice for a single. With guitar work that comes off like a warning alarm and Matt Tuck vocals that beg you to sing along to the “whoa-oh-ohs,” Bullet for My Valentine have an anthem on their hands. The disc as a whole is at its best in the mid-section, with the songs running from ‘Temper Temper’ through ‘Riot’ providing an increasingly diverse and strong stretch of music. ‘Pow’ starts off dialing things back a bit, but by the end of the song Tuck is confidently declaring, “ I will breathe once more .” ‘Dirty Little Secret’ has single potential and may have more style shifts than any song on the record. Keeping in the theme of dealing with aggression, Tuck belts, “ Straight for the throat / Like you’re an animal / In for the kill / Just like you’re an animal .” ‘Leech’ is a solid rocker that tells the story of a delusional person who’s always crashing the party. It’s followed by ‘Dead to the World,’ the album’s moodiest song, which comes at precisely the right time to give the listener a break from the hard-hitting assault that had been the record up to this point. In the introspective track, Tuck digs deep for the lyrics, “ I’ve tried a thousand times before to leave my demons behind me for good / I’m trapped with no escape to find / Lost without hope, hope is not lost as I hang on for one more tomorrow / Heart turns to black, but I’m not coming back cause I feel like I’m dead to the world .” However, by the end of the track, the melancholy gives way to full-on angst-ridden aggression fueled by Tuck and Michael “Padge” Paget’s guitar work. The album also concludes on a high note as ‘Livin’ Life (On the Edge of a Knife)’ is one of the more energetic tracks on the disc. The good news for Bullet for My Valentine fans is that not only will this album truly rock you, it also feels tailor-made for the stage. So get familiar with ‘Temper Temper’ and expect to hear plenty of it over the next couple of years. To catch BFMV on their upcoming tour with Halestorm, click here  for dates. Bullet for My Valentine Reveal ‘Temper Temper’ Album Artwork

RCA Bullet for My Valentine recently revealed that their latest studio album, ‘ Temper Temper ,’ would be arriving on Feb. 11 and now we know what the album cover art looks like. The band has unveiled the artwork (see the image on the left) for their forthcoming release and it shows a darker side to the album’s title. Given that the title ‘Temper Temper’ suggests some hot-headedness, the imagery of a pair of bloody hands, palms up, is a striking one. The pose is almost mindful of a person who is looking down upon their hands contemplating the dastardly deed they’ve done, though we never actually see the person’s face. So far, the group has served up the album’s title track and a second single ‘ Riot ‘ to check out in advance of the disc’s release, but it is not known how those songs compare to the rest of the record. In addition, the band has also unleashed a music video for ‘Temper Temper,’ giving at least some visual representation of the song. Bullet for My Valentine fans have had to wait a little while for a new disc, as singer Matt Tuck spent much of 2012 balancing his time between Bullet and his other hard-edged band, AxeWound , who toured and released their debut disc last year. Tuck says having the other group did affect Bullet for My Valentine’s latest effort, explaining , “We approached the record a lot differently this time around. It was more inspired by the way I did the AxeWound record and that was basically: get in the studio and write and record as you went along.” Look for ‘Temper Temper’ in stores Feb. 11; you can also pre-order the disc here . Bullet for My Valentine Unleash New Single ‘Riot’ From Upcoming Album ‘Temper Temper’

RCA Bullet for My Valentine have been gifting fans with new offerings from their upcoming 2013 album, ‘Temper, Temper.’ Although the album won’t see the light of day until Feb. 12, Bullet for My Valentine have released a second song from ‘Temper, Temper’ to ease your anxious shakes. To keep the anticipation buzzing for their fourth studio album, Bullet for My Valentine have released the record’s title track, a video to go along with it and an exclusive peek into the recording process of the album. Now, Bullet for My Valentine are unleashing ‘Riot’ as the new single from the forthcoming album. Bullet fans will encounter a familiar brand with ‘Riot,’ which blends radio-friendly metal with some impressive soloing. In both ‘Riot’ and the album’s title track, the sound is very fluid, which makes a great deal of sense when considering frontman Matt Tuck’s description of how the band recorded ‘Temper, Temper.’ “We approached the record a lot differently this time around,” explains Tuck. “It was kind of more inspired by the way I did the AxeWound record. And that was basically: Get in the studio and write and record as you went along.” Lend your ears to Bullet for My Valentine’s newest track, ‘Riot,’ via the player below. Bullet for My Valentine Unleash New Single ‘Temper Temper’

Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com Bullet for My Valentine  premiered a new song ‘Temper Temper’ yesterday (Oct. 22) on BBC Radio 1, and now have made the audio of the track available on YouTube (listen below). ‘Temper Temper’ is from Bullet for My Valentine’s upcoming fourth studio album. Produced by Don Gilmore ( Linkin Park , Pearl Jam ), the album is due in early 2013. The title and exact release date have not yet been revealed. Their previous effort ‘Fever’ (2010) cracked the Top 5 in countries all over the world, including the U.S. (No. 3), U.K. (No. 5) and Japan (No. 1). The song is certainly catchy, especially the sing-song chorus. ‘Temper Temper’ has plenty of melody and is destined for rock radio airplay. The initial reaction from fans, however, is mixed at best if you gauge the comments on the band’s Facebook and YouTube pages. Earlier this year, frontman Matt Tuck revealed they had been working on new music in Thailand. He says those that have heard their new music say it sounds like “a very confident, focused rock band.” In addition to his work with BFMV, Tuck has been busy with AxeWound . The band, which also includes Cancer Bats vocalist Liam Cormier, drummer Jason Bowld of Pitchshifter, ex-Rise to Remain bassist Joe Coput and Glamour of the Kill guitarist Mike Kingswood, recently released their debut album ‘ Vultures .’ Bullet for My Valentine performed at this year’s Reading and Leeds Festivals, and are set to play Soundwave Festival in Australia in 2013.
