Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor Offers Insight Into How to Destroy Angels

Facebook: How To Destroy Angels Trent Reznor is a man who wears many hats. Along with fronting the legendary Nine Inch Nails , Reznor has lent his talents to composing film scores, original music for video games, and has produced albums for Marilyn Manson and Jane’s Addiction . Reznor latest project is an upcoming EP from his group How to Destroy Angels. For those of you who are unfamiliar with How to Destroy Angels, the group consists of Reznor, fellow Academy Award winner Atticus Ross (who composed the film soundtrack for ‘The Social Network’ and ‘The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo’ with Reznor), Nine Inch Nails art director Rob Sheridan and vocalist Mariqueen Maandig, who also happens to be Trent Reznor’s beautiful wife. The band released a self-titled EP in 2010, with their second one, ‘An Omen EP’ to see a release in November. “We’ve been working on this kind of in the shadows throughout ‘The Social Network’ and ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ soundtracks since the core people are all kind of in the same area,” says Reznor in an interview with BBC1 Radio. “We’ve just been chipping away at this thing, and it’s been a nice pressure release valve really to have something to dump this energy into that doesn’t fit the other containers. It’s been fun. He continues, “We’ve just been playing around with the idea of the way that people consume music and listen to it and how big the chunks are. I think coming off of releasing ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ soundtrack that clocked in at 2 hours, we thought let’s do something that’s more manageable, digestible little bits here.” Reznor also speaks about an upcoming 2013 full-length for How to Destroy Angels. “Part of what’s on the EP is taken from a full-length record that’s 98% finished. That’s scheduled for a release at the beginning of next year.” Yesterday, How To Destroy Angels released ‘Keep It Together’ as the first single from ‘The Omen EP.’ Click below to listen: [button href=”http://loudwire.com/trent-reznor-how-to-destroy-angels-new-single-keep-it-together/” title=”Listen to How To Destroy Angels, ‘Keep it Together'” align=”center”]

Godsmack + Staind Perform Pantera’s ‘This Love’ During Texas Uproar Fest Stop

Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com Godsmack have always been vocal about how much of an influence Pantera  had on their career and so it seemed only fitting that when the 2012 Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival rolled into Pantera’s home state of Texas that the band would pay homage to them at some point during the night. It didn’t take long to get that ball rolling as Sully Erna and Godsmack were joined center stage by Mike Mushok and Aaron Lewis of Staind . Together they ripped into ‘This Love’ from Pantera’s 1992 release ‘Vulgar Display of Power,’ a disc that coincidentally just secured the No. 1 position in Loudwire’s Top 10 Albums of 1992 proving what an impact it made on both musicians and music fans alike. The stage quickly became an all-star cast of the 2012 Class of Uproar Fest with members of Fozzy , P.O.D. and more providing gang vocals during the chorus on one side of the stage while Rita Haney, the longtime girlfriend of late Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell Abbott , joined in on the other side of the stage, making for quite a special metal moment. Erna closed out the song, saying, “Rest in peace Dimebag Darrell, we miss you.” Fans in the crowd managed to capture the performance from several different angles. Check out a few of their takes below. Uproar Fest wraps up at the end of September, check out all of the remaining dates and locations here . Hatebreed Singer Jamey Jasta Brings Out Sportscaster Dan Patrick’s Metal Side

Ethan Miller / Chris Trotman, Getty Images Dan Patrick – metal head? It appears to be true as the former ESPN anchor and current radio sports talk and NBC football host recently showed his metal tendencies by coming out of a commercial break with Hatebreed  frontman  Jamey Jasta ‘s voice blaring to all his listeners. The host got into the music so much that he decided to shout Jasta’s lyrics as they hit the airwaves and debated whether or not he could pursue metal as a side career. “I could be one of those heavy metal guys I think,” explained Patrick. “I just don’t have the energy and I don’t have the hair where you just you’re whipping it. I don’t know if I have the energy to go [with] one of those, what are they, speed [metal]?” The song, for those who don’t recognize it, was penned specifically by the singer with his solo project Jasta for the Dan Patrick Show. It provides the theme music for Patrick “Seton” O’Connor’s ‘Stat of the Day’ segment on the radio program. The host has had a wide array of acts on his show, and metal has been represented over the years. In fact, GWAR ‘s Oderus Urungus turned in one of the more memorable appearances on the show. With Patrick and the recent John Clayton commercial for ESPN featuring him in a  Slayer t-shirt, we’re wondering if and when we might see a metal sportscasters band forming. However, Clayton would have to clear it with his mom before rocking out with Patrick.
