Green Day To Play Three Warm-Up Shows Prior to South by Southwest Gig

Spencer Kaufman, Loudwire Green Day just pushed up their return to the road, adding three new dates that will serve as warm-up shows for their recently announced North American stage return at South by Southwest in Austin. Earlier this week, the band revealed that they would play a set March 15 at Austin’s Moody Theater, coinciding with two of their documentaries screening as part of South By Southwest’s film festival. Fox Theater on March 10, Tempe’s Marquee on March 11 and El Paso’s Tricky Falls on March 13. Tickets for all three dates will go on sale this Friday (March 1) at 10AM local time. They join the recently announced April 16 and 18 performances at Berkeley’s Greek Theatre and Los Angeles’ Sports Arena that recently extended the tour by a week. The South by Southwest film festival will premiere the band’s ‘Broadway Idiot’ documentary, which is primarily focused on singer Billie Joe Armstrong ‘s role in the Broadway production of the band’s ‘American Idiot’ album. Also screening at the Paramount Theatre the night of March 15 will be ‘¡Cuatro!,’ a documentary on the making of Green Day’s recently released album trilogy. The new shows are now part of the band’s North American trek, which will keep them on the road through April 18 in Los Angeles. After that, the group will trek over to Milan, Italy for the start of their European tour on May 24, with shows overseas booked through July 13 in Bilbao, Spain. Suicidal Tendencies Announce 2013 Tour Dates in Support of New Album

Theo Wargo, Getty Images It’s time to start stocking up on extra padding as Suicidal Tendencies have announced their impending return with a brand-new full-length album and a full-on tour to follow. The band will release their ‘Who’s Afraid?’ album on March 26 and you can bet the group’s ninth release is filled with all the energy and fury of its predecessors. Details on the disc are scarce at this point, but it’s likely that the group will incorporate songs from the album into their set lists when they tour in April. Frontman ‘Cyco Miko’ Muir stated last year of their hopes for their new music, “The way we look at it is that next year will be the 30th anniversary of our first record. When we look at a record, we don’t want to have it sound like 2012. We want it to sound awesome 25 years from now, so when a kid who wasn’t even born when we made it listens to it, he’s like, ‘Damn, that’s a cool record!’” The group has dubbed their upcoming trek the ‘Slam City’ tour. It launches April 11 at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco and runs through a May 12 finale in San Diego. Suicidal Tendencies revealed that DRI will be joining them for the first part of the run, with Sick of It All taking over as primary support on the back end. Meanwhile, Wake the Dead will serve as the opening act throughout the run and the band is teasing the possibility of another great band who they hope to have on board for the first four shows of the trek. Stay tuned. Danzig Announce Dates for 25th Anniversary North American Tour

Scott Gries, Getty Images 2013 is a year that Danzig will always remember as the band is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Frontman Glenn Danzig and his cohorts have announced their first tour of the year and they plan on making it a real hard rocking celebration. As part of his lineup, Danzig will welcome his former Misfits bandmate Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein on a majority of the shows. In addition, the North American run will feature stellar support from Corrosion of Conformity and The Agonist . Extreme metallers The Agonist expressed their joy at being chosen to open shows during Danzig’s milestone year, especially after their proposed trek with Cradle of Filth  fell apart due to unexpected  immigration issues . The group stated, “When news of the cancellation came through, we were not only disappointed but heartbroken about losing the entire experience of touring with Cradle of Filth, The Faceless and Decapitated. All the members of The Agonist have been gearing up for this tour since the fall of last year and we were really looking forward to putting on amazing show for both old and new fans alike … But alas, The Agonist moves on and is proud to announce an upcoming tour with the almighty Danzig (!!!) as well as the legendary Corrosion of Conformity in the month of April 2013!” On the recording front, things have been quiet from Danzig of late. The group was reportedly working on a covers disc last year and their last original album was 2010′s ‘Death Red Saboath.’ The 25th anniversary trek launches April 17 in Las Vegas and continues through April 28 in Ventura, Calif.
