Trent Reznor’s How to Destroy Angels Set to Release New EP

Facebook: How To Destroy Angels Trent Reznor ’s multi-faceted creative collective known as How to Destroy Angels have announced their plans to release their latest disc titled ‘An Omen EP,’ due Nov. 13 digitally and on 12″ vinyl. The six-song EP will be released via Columbia Records. How to Destroy Angels is made up of Reznor, his wife Mariqueen Maandig, Atticus Ross, who shares the Academy Award with Reznor for their score of ‘The Social Network,’ and visual artist Rob Sheridan, who previously worked as creative director for Nine Inch Nails . So judging by all accounts this lineup serves as much more than just a band. Reznor posted an open letter on his Facebook page touching on all the details and confirming that their upcoming plans include making some new videos and performing live – something that Reznor had showed some apprehension about in the past while still remaining excited about the next chapter in his career. He also comments on his decision to return to a major label with the new project and how it compares to an independent release. Read Reznor’s letter below: Sorry for the radio silence lately… I’ve been busy! There’s a number of things to be revealed over the coming months. Some you may expect, others you may not. Patience, my friends. Today’s news is about my band How to Destroy Angels. I’m happy to announce we’ve formally partnered with Columbia Records for our next series of releases. The first of these will be available in November and it’s called ‘An Omen EP.’ As you may have guessed, it’s an EP. It contains six songs, some of which are from our full-length LP which is coming early next year. We are making some videos, we are going to be performing live, and that’s all the details I have for now on those matters. Regarding our decision to sign with Columbia, we’ve really spent a long time thinking about things and it makes sense for a lot of reasons, including a chance to work with our old friend Mark Williams. There’s a much more granular and rambling answer I could give (and likely will in an interview someplace) but it really comes down to us experimenting and trying new things to see what best serves our needs. Complete independent releasing has its great points but also comes with shortcomings. We are all very excited about you checking out the new stuff. Wish I could tell you more, but you know how this works … it would take all the fun out of it! In addition to the EP, the band is planning a full-length release with a target release date of spring 2013. For all the latest on How to Destroy Angels follow them on Twitter and Facebook . Eddie Vedder Rips Mitt Romney While Performing at Barack Obama Fundraiser

Gareth Cattermole, Getty Images Pearl Jam vocalist Eddie Vedder performed a short set for a Barack Obama fundraiser last night (Sept. 20) in Tampa Bay, Fla. Along with playing for President Obama and a crowd of 85 guests, who paid $20,000 per-person to attend, Vedder had some choice words for Republican candidate Mitt Romney and his recent claims that 47 percent of Americans consider themselves as victims who are entitled to government assistance. According to Rolling Stone , Vedder addressed Romney’s words during the Obama fundraiser. “It’s very upsetting to hear a presidential candidate be so easily dismissive of such a ginormous amount of the population.” As a supporter of government-funded programs and someone who benefited from those programs before hitting it big with Pearl Jam, Vedder recalled signing up for a government security guard training program. “I’m an example of someone who never made it to university,” Vedder told the crowd. “I did have this dream to be a musician. I felt that this dream had an expiration date … It was that job which allowed me to keep affording to guitars and microphones,” the Pearl Jam frontman said. “For me, it all began with that ability to get the proper training for a decent job.” President Obama went on to thank Vedder for his words, while praising the musician’s grassroots rise to fame. “For you to share that story with us, Eddie, speaks volumes not only about you but about this country,” Obama told Vedder. “That story captures better than anything what this campaign is about and what this country is about.” Pearl Jam are scheduled to play a handful of U.S. shows to round out September, before Vedder embarks on a solo tour, which begins in Las Vegas on Halloween night. 10 Amazing Concert Ejections Caught on Video

YouTube: sludge666ful Although a rock or metal show may seem like absolutely anarchy, there are a few unspoken rules. Generally speaking, if you start a fight in the crowd or throw something at the band, you’d better hope that none of the musicians notice you, because you’ll likely be humiliated publicly and kicked out of the venue. In these 10 concert ejections, we’ve teamed up with Ultimate Classic Rock and Diffuser.fm to bring you memorable scenes where artist turns against audience member, justifiably. If you’re a fan of confrontation and brilliantly articulated slews of naughty words, you won’t want to miss out on watching these videos. Iron Maiden + Rammstein Confirmed to Headline 2013 Download Festival

Karl Walter / Nick Laham, Getty Images The UK’s legendary Download Festival has just announced two of the headlining acts for their 2013 bill. Iron Maiden will headline the second day of Download (June 15) to bring their ‘Maiden England’ tour to over 100,000 rabid fans. Rammstein are also confirmed for the fest, and will headline the closing June 16 date. Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson offered his excitement for once again headlining the Donington Park fest. “We’re absolutely over the moon to be headlining Donington again,” says Dickinson. “The idea of returning exactly 25 years later with a show inspired by that same 1988 “Seventh Son” Tour, was too good an opportunity to be missed! And, thanks to modern technology, we’ve been able to update and improve on the original production.” Dickinson continues, “We will be bringing a huge new lightshow, stage set, various incarnations of Eddie, plenty of pyro and all kinds of other exciting stuff for the fans. And of course treating the fans to lots of their favourite songs from that period! We’ve had many great times at Donington and there is always a wonderful mix of bands and a really wild crowd who love their metal, all of which makes for a memorable show and fantastic party atmosphere!” Rammstein offered a shorter, yet entertaining quote on closing out the fest with their unique brand of German metal. “It’s only a festival…not a moon landing,” Rammstein comments. Download 2013 will open their gates from June 14-16 at Donington Park for what is already sure to be a memorable outing. The festival organizers have not yet announced who will be headlining the first day, or what other acts will be added to the lineup. Tickets for the 2013 Download Festival will be available beginning Sept. 28.
