Trent Reznor’s How to Destroy Angels Unveil Video for ‘Keep It Together’

Columbia How to Destroy Angels is an experimental musical project featuring Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor , frequent NIN collaborator Atticus Ross, Nine Inch Nails’ longtime graphic designer Rob Sheridan, and Mariqueen Maandig, the incredibly beautiful  (and talented) wife of Trent Reznor. The musical coalition has just released a music video for ‘Keep It Together,’ which showcases the band performing the song in the studio. How to Destroy Angels released their debut self-titled EP in 2010, with the group’s second EP, ‘An Omen EP,’ set for release on Nov. 13. ‘Keep it Together’ boasts droning electronic music filled with strategically placed nuances with tranquil vocal performances by both Reznor and Maandig, hitting a similar nerve struck by the duo of Maynard James Keenan and Carina Round within the music of Puscifer . With Reznor having taken a more independent approach to his musical career as of late, fans were surprised to learn that ‘An Omen EP’ was to be released via Columbia Records. “We’ve really spent a long time thinking about things and it makes sense for a lot of reasons, including a chance to work with our old friend Mark Williams,” explains Reznor. “There’s a much more granular and rambling answer I could give (and likely will in an interview someplace), but it really comes down to us experimenting and trying new things to see what best serves our needs. Complete independent releasing has its great points but also comes with shortcomings.” Check out the haunting new video for ‘Keep It Together’ by How to Destroy Angels. Ill Nino Unleash Video for ‘La Epidemia’

Victory Records Their sixth studio album, ‘Epidemia,’ was released last week (Oct. 22), and now  Ill Niño has unveiled the video for ‘La Epidemia.’ Both the song and clip feature  Emmure vocalist Frankie Palmeri. The video for ‘La Epidemia’ was filmed at The Rave in Milwaukee, Wis. It features performance footage of the band, along with some backstage shots. Palmeri and Ill Nino’s Cristian Machado are shown doing vocals in an empty area of the venue. It wasn’t difficult to line up their schedules, since Ill Nino and Emmure were on tour together at the time. Machado spoke with SMNnews about their new album. The singer stated, “I truly feel it embodies who the band really is without compromising musical growth. To define our way of Latin Metal was the intention and, if we got 75 percent of the way there, we succeeded. The feeling, at the end of the day, should be had by the fans and not the band.” “The more we focus on our songs and just that, the better we are as band,” Machado continues. “Too much outside influence can sometimes ruin creativity and focus. In our case, we’ve walked the fine line between being focused and having identity crisis for a long time. These personal creative differences are not audible on ‘Epidemia,’ making it one of our strongest and more focused efforts.” After wrapping up that tour with Emmure, Ill Nino only has one other show currently on their 2012 calendar. They will perform in Marietta, Ga. on Dec. 8. Green Day Producer: Billie Joe Armstrong Could Be in Rehab for a While

Spencer Kaufman, Loudwire Last month after an onstage breakdown during the iHeartRadio music festival in Las Vegas, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong checked into rehab for substance abuse. Now, Warner Bros. Records Chairman and producer Rob Cavallo is opening up about the potentially long road ahead for Armstrong and the band. Commenting on the seriousness of Armstrong’s condition, Cavallo told Rolling Stone that “his rehab is no joke” and that Armstrong is “under medical supervision for a while to get him clean.” Green Day already canceled their headlining spot at the Voodoo Music and Arts Experience at the end of October ( with Metallica filling in for them ), but the band has additional tour dates kicking off in November. Judging by Cavallo’s comments, more cancellations may be coming. “His doctors are still evaluating,” Cavallo said. “All I can say is I don’t know if we’ll see him before or after Christmas. It’s basically undetermined when he’ll be back.” Bassist Mike Dirnt also recently spoke out about Armstrong’s current state of mind in an interview with BBC Radio 1 citing that the pressure of promoting three albums at one time weighed on all of them. “With hindsight 20/20, it was a tremendous undertaking,” Dirnt admitted. “Although we were having fun, we didn’t take our nose out of the book for a long time. I think it catches up with you a little bit. We definitely just jumped off a moving train.” He also said that Armstrong’s breakdown wasn’t a complete shock. “There were signs of things hitting the fan,” he said. “We hadn’t slept in forever and Billie had definitely had the worst of it.” He continued, explaining, “He’d been going through his own struggles . . . We were there with him, but you can only handle things on your own . . . At the end of the day, when we got off the road, the most important thing was my friend’s life.” Here’s wishing Armstrong a speedy recovery and a quick return to the stage. Stone Sour’s Corey Taylor Writing Comic Book Series for Album ‘House of Gold & Bones’

Dark Horse Comics As an extension of Stone Sour ‘s double album ‘House of Gold & Bones,’ vocalist Corey Taylor is creating a comic book. A four-issue miniseries will be written by Taylor and published by Dark Horse Comics to accompany the two-part Stone Sour album. Set to drop on Oct. 23, ‘House of Gold & Bones – Part 1,’ Stone Sour’s fourth full-length album is one of the most anticipated releases of 2012. The second part of ‘House of Gold and Bones’ does not have an official release date as of this posting, but we know that Corey Taylor, who also provides vocals for Slipknot , will be appearing at New York’s Comic Con this week (Oct. 11-14), according to Roadrunner Records . Corey Taylor recently spoke about his passion that led to his animated endeavor. “It’s something I’ve always wanted to do,” says Taylor. “I’ve always been very critical of when comics go south and basically pull the fan out of what the potential is. It’s me pretty much putting my money where my mouth is.” He continues, “Especially in (the music) industry, you’re encouraged to not only appear to be as youthful and arrogant as possible, but you’re encouraged to make your own terrible decisions and have this kind of abhorrent behavior. People think that it sells. I figured out a long time ago that that’s so boring and so clichéd. To me, it was about shuffling that off and figuring out who do I want to be? Who do I want to try to be? Who do I want to aspire to be?” Get ready for Stone Sour’s ‘House of Gold & Bones,’ which will drop on Oct. 22.
