Stone Sour Visit Mysterious Realms in Music Video For ‘Absolute Zero’

Roadrunner Stone Sour have just released a new video for ‘Absolute Zero,’ their first single off ‘House of Gold & Bones – Part 1.’ The tripped-out video documents a man trapped inside a bizarre graffiti-covered room with images of Stone Sour lining the walls. The clip for ‘Absolute Zero’ definitely offers some interesting creativity as the main character is stuck in some sort of other-worldly realm. Within this realm, two versions of Stone Sour perform the track throughout the area; one colored grey and the other colored gold. The man is presented with a choice, represented by two buttons in the respective colors of Stone Sour’s dueling identities. We won’t give away his decision, but it is sure to stir up the imagination of fans. “‘Absolute Zero’ is the anti-hero anthem of House of Gold & Bones – Part One,” Corey Taylor tells Rolling Stone . “It essentially lets you know that the hero isn’t perfect, but he will do whatever is necessary. The video is loosely based on the fact that in the short story, the hero ends up in a very strange world and he has to figure out what’s going on and what he’ll do.” Stone Sour are set to begin a comprehensive world tour beginning Nov. 25 in Paris, France. Head on over to RollingStone.com to check out the band’s new video for ‘Absolute Zero.’ [button href=”http://www.rollingstone.com/music/videos/stone-sour-warp-reality-in-absolute-zero-premiere-20121114″ title=”Watch Stone Sour’s New Video For ‘Absolute Zero'” align=”center”]

Corey Taylor Discusses Slipknot’s Future, Dave Mustaine + Phil Anselmo

Liz Ramanand, Loudwire Slipknot / Stone Sour vocalist Corey Taylor has heard the question before, and he’s getting a little tired about those asking about Slipknot’s future . The vocalist tells Metal Sucks that he feels no matter how often he explains his stance on the band’s continuation, it’s not truly taken to heart. Taylor tells Metal Sucks, “It’s like the more we try to explain it, no one hears the answer. It’s like they’re waiting for the answer they want to hear. We go out of our way to make sure our fans know everything, but at the end of the day, the fans have got to trust us. The worse it gets, the more we want to push away — we’re still dealing with the fact that our brother is dead. It can get hectic when all that people want to know about is when we’re getting back together. Don’t they realize that we’re never, really, ever going to get back together? One of our founding members is gone. It’ll never be the same, y’know? People don’t understand it. I try not to be bitter and lash out, but it’s getting harder and harder. Brutal, man.” During his interview, Taylor weighed in on several other topics, including the controversial political commentaries of Megadeth ‘s Dave Mustaine . The singer says, “The thing that bothers me is no one should ever put a microphone in front of Dave Mustaine’s face unless he’s on stage. Every time he says something, I cringe. People have asked me — there was this big thing on Twitter where people we’re going, ‘Dave Mustaine makes me ashamed to be a metalhead,’ and I’m like, ‘Screw that! For every Mustaine, there’s a Hetfield . They’re his beliefs, let him talk s— all he wants, and don’t let him discourage you.’ Just because there’s one guy who doesn’t know what the hell he’s talking about, doesn’t mean there aren’t twenty more who do know.” Taylor also revealed that he’s doing his best to stay healthy on the road, though his register seems to get lower as the years go on. When asked if he thought he was morphing into Pantera ‘s Phil Anselmo , Taylor explained, “Umm… not really, no. I can walk upright, so I’m fine. I think Phil has a lot more problems than a deep voice, let’s put it that way. But my voice has been the same timbre for 15 years, so I’m not worried. Plus, I don’t drink any more — I don’t smoke any less, but I don’t drink anymore, so I’m trying to stay as healthy as I can.” These days, you can hear Taylor and his low register fronting Stone Sour on their newly released, ‘ House of Gold & Bones, Pt. 1 ‘ album. Slipknot’s Current and Former Frontmen to Share Stage at Stone Sour Show

Mary Oullette, SheWillShootYou.com / Facebook: Painface Slipknot fans may have their heads implode this week in Des Moines when Stone Sour plays at the local club Wooly’s. That’s because Slipknot’s original singer, Anders Colsefni, will take the stage Monday night (Oct. 29) with his current band Painface to open the show for Corey Taylor ‘s hit-making outfit. Colsefni appeared on the Slipknot’s 1996 demo, ‘Mate Feed Kill Repeat,’ before leaving the band a year later. The group recruited their current vocalist, Taylor, to take over after Colsefni’s exit. Taylor is currently rocking with his other band Stone Sour, while Slipknot enjoys a bit a temporary hiatus . In a posting at Painface’s Facebook page , the group revealed, “Due to the amazingly gracious Corey Taylor, Painface has been asked to open for Stone Sour this Monday Oct. 29 at Wooley’s. We are excited and proud to be able to support one of our favorite bands and fellow Des Moines musicians. The show is sold out but we hope that you hold up the horns in your heart for us if you can’t be there. There will be more information to follow.” In addition to Painface, Blabbermouth reports that Colsefni recently made a guest appearance on Des Moines rock outfit Green Death’s latest EP, ‘Dawn of the Death,’ which arrives digitally Oct. 30. As for Taylor, Stone Sour is taking up plenty of his time. The band just released the first of their two-part ‘ House of Gold & Bones ‘ album, and they are also plotting comic book and potential film companion pieces to go with the discs. After the performance at Wooly’s, the group will spend most of the rest of the year on tour outside of the U.S. [button href=”http://loudwire.com/slipknot-the-heretic-anthem-top-21st-century-metal-songs/” title=”Next: Slipknot – Top 21st Century Metal Songs” align=”center”]

Stone Sour Construct House-Like Packaging for New Albums

Roadrunner Leave it to Corey Taylor to go big with his latest vision. The Stone Sour singer just continued his dedication to the ambitious ‘ House of Gold & Bones ‘ double-album by introducing intricate packaging for the two releases, which when put together forms the shape of a house. Fans will be able to get the first part this week when ‘House of Gold & Bones, Pt. 1′ arrives in stores, but it will take the second part, which isn’t due until next spring, to complete the house-shaped packaging. While we have to wait to construct the full ‘House of Gold & Bones,’ Stone Sour has posted a trailer to show their fans how it will all fit together. The clip can be seen below. Stone Sour will hit the road to support both releases, but the band is starting their run outside of the U.S. Aside from two Halloween week shows (Oct. 28 and 29) at Wooly’s in Taylor’s hometown of Des Moines, the trek will span through Mexico, South America, and Europe for the remainder of the year. Stone Sour’s Corey Taylor Eyes Movie Adaptations of ‘House of Gold & Bones’ Albums

Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com When Stone Sour vocalist Corey Taylor  initially revealed his band’s “grand” plan for their next album, he might have undersold it. As it turns out, releasing the album in two parts is only the beginning, as Taylor is plotting a comic book companion piece and now he’s contemplating turning both discs into films. Taylor tells Artisan News (video below), “Once we’ve toured and we’ve got the music out to everyone, the thing I really wanna do is have two movies — Part 1 and Part 2. With the comic and the story and the music, I think we’ll be able to do it. I already know who I wanna talk to about doing it, so we’ll see what happens.” The singer did not tip his hand on who he wants to direct or develop the project. The singer has been quite busy of late expanding the boundaries of the conceptual ‘House of Gold & Bones’ double-disc. He recently inked a deal with Dark Horse Comics to create a four-issue series based around the ideas for the record. The first installment in the series is expected on April 17, 2013. As for ‘House of Gold & Bones,’ the first album of the two-disc set is due Oct. 23, with the second disc to follow next spring. The band just debuted their new ‘Gone Sovereign’ video earlier this month. The group’s world tour in support of the upcoming releases continues in Tokyo, Japan on Oct. 27.
