Puscifer Practice for Upcoming Tour Dates – Exclusive Video Premiere

Puscifer Entertainment Puscifer are currently revving up for the release of their upcoming EP ‘Donkey Punch the Night’ along with a handful of tour dates in Australia and South America. To take you further into the realm of Maynard James Keenan and his Puscifer bandmates, we’ve got an exclusive video of the musical collective warming up for what is sure to be a spotlit year for the band’s career. Tool and A Perfect Circle vocalist Maynard James Keenan began Puscifer as an additional sonic alter-ego in 2003, with Keenan acting as the group’s sole permanent member. A decade after the idea was conceived, Puscifer are beginning to rise up not just as an obscure side project, but as a musical force comparable to both Tool and A Perfect Circle in terms of quality. Since the release of the 2011 full-length ‘Conditions of My Parole,’ Puscifer seem to have cemented a more secure lineup consisting of singer Carina Round , A Perfect Circle members Matt McJunkins and Jeff Friedl and guitarist Mat Mitchell among others. The band embarked on a theatrical U.S. tour last summer, and in this behind-the-scenes video, we witness Maynard and his band of curmudgeons in the middle of practice. One of the most interesting parts of the video is the band’s use of their framed television monitors, which magnify the heads of both Keenan and Round to mammoth proportions. Check out this rare look into the world of Puscifer in the video below, premiered exclusively here on Loudwire, and see the band’s current tour itinerary here . Puscifer Behind the Scenes Teaser

Avenged Sevenfold to Join Iron Maiden + Metallica at Rock in Rio 2013

Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com Avenged Sevenfold are starting to map out their 2013 plans that includes the likely release of a new album and a return to the road. One of the major stops on their upcoming itinerary will be at the Rock in Rio festival, which has become a favorite stopping place over the years. Singer M. Shadows told G1 that they’re anxious to join Iron Maiden and Metallica on the festival bill and will happily play alongside Maiden on the “Metal Day,” Sept. 22, 2013. The vocalist says, “I love Iron Maiden. We’ve done some touring with them in Europe. We are part of that case that each one has its specific fan base, but there are many people who like both the bands, who have the passion for metal [and] like this kind of sound. [We] can’t wait to be part of this festival. Luckily, I know the Brazilian fans of Iron Maiden like our music.” Avenged Sevenfold, a veteran of the 2008, 2010 and 2011 Rock in Rio festivals, says they may also use the festival as a springboard to play other shows in South America. Shadows says, “We’re talking to Metallica and Iron Maiden to [find out] what they will do before and after the Rock in Rio. So, there’s a chance to take the fall and make at least two more shows. We are still seeing [at this point].” The singer says the band is happy to have reached the stage that they are at, selling plenty of records despite not bowing to pop-rock to do so. Shadows explains, “It is possible and we’re not the only example. Iron Maiden and Metallica are two of the greatest bands of all time and [stayed away] from pop. Pantera did well on the charts and has one of the best selling albums of all-time. You have to build a fan club, have to do a good job in the alternative scene and then know how to grow it up. Pop music listeners will not buy our records. We just want to play heavy rock.” At present the band is working on a new record and they have the ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops II’ song ‘ Carry On ‘ keeping fans interested while they complete the upcoming disc. Mastodon’s Troy Sanders Joins Max Cavalera in New Supergroup

Michael Buckner / Carlos Muina, Getty Images Soulfly frontman Max Cavalera has spoken in the past about an upcoming musical project with Dillinger Escape Plan vocalist Greg Puciato and former Mars Volta drummer Dave Elitch, but a new member has been added to the yet-unnamed supergroup. That man just happens to be Troy Sanders , the bassist and co-vocalist of modern metal outfit  Mastodon . During an interview with Singapore metal radio show ‘Vicious Volume,’ Max Cavalera announced the inclusion of Sanders in the upcoming experiment. “Troy from Mastodon just joined the band, too, so now we’ve got three singers for the project, which is also really killer,” says Cavalera. “I’m really excited about that, too. I think it’s gonna be a very original project. I don’t know any other metal projects out there with three people singing like this. So it can be almost like a Transplants of metal. Transplants had three singers; this also has three singers, and it can be very, very great.” He continues, “I’m following, in a lot of ways, some of the same footsteps as Nailbomb in my approach to this project — a lot of do-it-yourself, punk-rock kind of feeling to the project. So the songs are written really quick — I don’t think too much about it. I like it more like that, so they are very raw. We are working on the [music] in December and then we’re hoping to get in the studio in January. The main thing we don’t have is a name.” Mastodon are currently cruising through South America and Mexico for a small amount of dates, and none of the other acts with members in the upcoming project are currently on tour, so it seems like the new project will being to grow right on schedule. Amy Lee Says Evanescence Will Take Extended Break After Current Tour

Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com Evanescence fans had to wait five years between ‘The Open Door’ and last year’s self-titled album, and now singer Amy Lee is suggesting that fans may have to wait a while for album number four. The band has done a lot of touring behind their self-titled effort, including the recent Carnival 0f Madness tour — we were there at the Boston show . They are now preparing for upcoming South America and European runs. Lee tells  NME that Evanesence will probably take extended time off after this tour. “I’m really not sure what I’ll do next,” she explained. “At the end of any really long tour you need to get your head in order. I think at the end of the run we’ll go on a break for a while and figure things out.” Lee says she doesn’t have a problem with long gaps between albums. “Taking long breaks is seen as a bad thing, but I don’t think it’s a bad thing. People have the idea that you have to keep putting stuff out while people remember you. But I’d rather make something that’s awesome and then make people remember again. I hope it doesn’t take five years, but I don’t want to put a timeline on it either.” Evanescence were recently nominated for an MTV Europe Music Award in the category of Best World Stage. The band faces some tough competition, with artists such as Justin Bieber, LMFAO, Snoop Dogg and Taylor Swift also getting nominations. The awards ceremony will be in Frankfurt, Germany on Nov. 11.
