2013 Rock on the Range to Feature Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Korn, Lamb of God + More

2013 Rock on the Range Festival The 2013 Rock on the Range lineup has been unveiled and it’s packed with must-see bands. Rock on the Range will celebrate its seventh year of festival madness with perhaps its best lineup to date. The three-day event will feature Soundgarden , Alice in Chains , Smashing Pumpkins , Korn , Stone Sour , Lamb of God and many more. The 2013 installment of the Rock on the Range festival will take place May 17-19 in Columbus, Ohio, at the Columbus Crew Stadium. Korn will be welcoming former guitarist Brian ‘Head’ Welch to join them onstage. The band has already booked some dates with Head in Europe, but this is their first U.S. show of the year so far that will feature the axeman. “Head is back!!,” says Korn’s Jonathan Davis . “Rock on the Range is going to start it all off!!  Get ready, we are going to hit it hard!!” Another band to pay close attention to for Rock on the Range is Lamb of God. Although LoG are confirmed for the festival, vocalist Randy Blythe is scheduled to appear in Czech court on Feb. 4 for his controversial manslaughter case. Depending on the outcome, there is a question of whether Lamb of God will indeed be able to remain on the bill. Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains is excited about the band’s slot in this year’s Rock on the Range, saying, “We’re really looking forward to returning to Rock on the Range with a batch of brand new killer Alice tunes to play for everyone!” Additionally, Bush singer Gavin Rossdale offers, “Bush are thrilled to be playing Rock on the Range with such great bands. We look forward to seeing you all out there.” Check out the full festival lineup below, and find out all the ticket pre-sale and onsale information at the official Rock on the Range website . Fan Granted Wish to Spend a Day With Korn

YouTube Korn are one of the more fan-friendly acts going and the group was more than happy to hang out and meet one of their fans after receiving a request from the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Korn supporter Tyler Sims suffers from Lupus, an auto-immune disease that leads to excruciating arthritic pain and other physical ailments. The youth says he always wanted to meet the group and was thrilled to finally do so. Last October, Sims and his family traveled to Phoenix where the band was scheduled to perform and he was finally able to meet his hard-rocking heroes. He says in a new video package showcasing his day that he was picked up in a limo and taken to the venue where he got to watch from the side of the stage as the band went through their soundcheck. After a break in the action, each of the band members met up with Sims and signed some merchandise, while singer Jonathan Davis sat down with the young man and they shared stories about their lives. The longtime Korn fan says, “He really connected with me kind of deep. It felt good that they actually cared.” Sims says that his struggles with Lupus have caused him some fairly painful times, but Korn’s music has always been there for him. He adds, “I’ve been a Korn fan since I was 10-years-old. As I got older, I really connected with all the lyrics and I mean every song means something to me. It says something to me and it really gets me through a lot of the rough times I go through.” Watch Tyler Sims’ Visit With Korn [button href=”http://loudwire.com/watch-wounded-warriors-film-korn-jonathan-davis/” title=”Next: Watch Jonathan Davis’ ‘Wounded Warriors’ Short Film” align=”center”]

Best Korn Album – Readers Poll

Epic It’s been a roller-coaster ride for Korn , but the band has been one of the most productive outfits since arriving on the scene with their 1994 debut disc. This Loudwire Readers Poll asks you to determine which of Korn’s albums is their best. Korn remained still somewhat of an underground band with a growing following with their first two albums. The band’s self-titled debut spawned the hit song ‘Blind’ and fan favorite, ‘Chutes and Ladders.’ Meanwhile, 1996′s ‘Life Is Peachy’ followed with the breakout song ‘A.D.I.D.A.S.’ But it wasn’t until their third album that they became a massive band. 1998′s ‘Follow the Leader’ provided the group with staple hits ‘Got the Life’ and ‘Freak on a Leash.’ The following year ‘Issues’ gave us a trio of singles — ‘Falling Away From Me,’ ‘Make Me Bad,’ and ‘Somebody Someone.’ The 21st century has brought us more solid efforts from Korn. The 2002 album ‘Untouchables’ kept the momentum going with ‘Here to Stay’ and ‘Thoughtless’ enjoying some success. In 2003, ‘Take a Look in the Mirror’ provided fans with ‘Did My Time’ and ‘Right Now,’ but ‘Y’all Want a Single’ was the band’s statement on the changes in the music industry. After breaking for a hits collection, 2005′s ‘See You on the Other Side’ gave us ‘Twisted Transistor’ and ‘Coming Undone,’ and they followed with their untitled album, which featured ‘Evolution’ and ‘Hold On.’ Their last two albums found Korn taking two very different directions. ‘Korn III: Remember Who You Are,’ had them trying to reclaim their early sound, with ‘Oildale’ being the main single. In 2011, the group went completely the opposite direction with ‘The Path of Totality,’ a dubstep-infused effort that spawned ‘Get Up’ and ‘Narcissistic Cannibal.’ That’s ten original albums in 19 years, not counting their greatest hits album or ‘Unplugged’ release. Now it’s your turn to tell us which disc is best. Vote for the best Korn album in the Readers Poll below. Sorry, you need to have javascript running to see this poll. Brian ‘Head’ Welch on Upcoming Korn Gigs: It’s the ‘Right Time’ to Reunite

Liz Ramanand, Loudwire Korn are set to reunite with their founding guitar player  Brian ‘Head’ Welch  for two German festival gigs in 2013, and perhaps nobody is more stoked about the get-together than Welch. The metal six-stringer rocked out with Korn onstage for the track ‘Blind’ last May at the Carolina Rebellion festival in Rockingham, N.C., and he says jamming with Korn just felt right. “Last [May], I ended up at the Carolina Rebellion show,” he tells  Revolver . “Evanescence played, and I had gone with P.O.D., because I was on tour with them. Korn was playing. I was just going to go say hi to them. I saw [Korn guitarist] Munky, and we talked for a long time. It was the first time we talked in seven years. He’s sober now and everyone’s in a good place.” Welch added that once he got onstage with the guys, he felt a connection. “It was all positive,” he said. “When I left Korn, there was all this negative crap everywhere. I went home and thought, ‘That was a cool experience.’ So Munky called me a little bit later about reuniting [for the shows in Germany]. I told him I didn’t think it was the right time, but maybe later. Then I thought about it more and I called him back. I had so much fun jamming I said, ‘Let’s do it.’ It’s a couple shows. I want to connect with the fans. It is the right time. We’re just going slow right now. We’re just gonna do those couple shows and see what happens. Just have a good time.” The big reunion is set to happen at Germanys Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park festivals, scheduled for June 7 and 9. Korn Guitarist Munky Optimistic for Permanent Reunion With Brian ‘Head’ Welch

Liz Ramanand, Loudwire It’s no secret many Korn fans were bummed when Brian ‘Head’ Welch left the band, but he is set to reunite with the group for a couple of shows in 2013 after playing a one-off gig at the Carolina Rebellion festival this past year. ‘Head’ is set to join Korn for their dates at next year’s German rock festivals Rock am Ring and Rock im Park. The gigs will be his first full sets with the band since 2004. Loudwire had the opportunity to catch up with guitarist Munky  on last week’s ShipRocked cruise, and he talked all about his excitement for the upcoming German Festival dates and jamming out with ‘Head.’ Munky also expressed his optimism for ‘Head’ eventually rejoining Korn permanently, but makes it clear that they don’t want to rush anything and still have a long road ahead of them. “He’s our brother, to be able to have him onstage with us is a great thing. He’s one of the members of the band that helped define this sound.” Munky Talks About Reunion With Head  [button href=”http://loudwire.com/korn-welcome-back-guitarist-brian-head-welch-for-two-2013-shows/” title=”Next: Korn to Reunite With Head for Two Germany Gigs in 2012″ align=”center”]

Soon after, Korn guitarist James ‘Munky’ Shaffer told The Pulse of Radio that he would be open to Welch one day rejoining the band . “It’s just something that has to be super well-planned and it has to come naturally,” says Munky. “And our experience with him on Saturday has all started from a positive place, and it wasn’t forced and it was just natural. So I think if everything optimistically runs like that, that’s all I can hope for. I’m really happy just to reconnect with my old friend.” Check out the websites for the upcoming Rock am Ring and Rock im Park festivals.
