Asking Alexandria Don’t Let Singer’s Torn Vocal Cord Stop New York Gig With As I Lay Dying + More

Liz Ramanand, Loudwire The Monster Energy Outbreak Tour made its stop in New York City on Sunday night (Dec. 9) for a sold-out show at the Best Buy Theater. Headliners  Asking Alexandria  set fans into a frenzy, as did  As I Lay Dying , Memphis May Fire, I See Stars and Attila. The night was bittersweet. As much as fans enjoyed the performance of the bands, there was also a wistful vibe throughout the night as many fans remembered frontman Mitch Lucker of Suicide Silence, who were supposed to be on the tour’s lineup before the untimely death of their vocalist. The night kicked off with a decent set by party metal band Attila, followed by I See Stars, who got fans bouncing and brought on the first Wall of Death of the night. Memphis May Fire were up next and delivered an intense performance. One of the best sets of the night went to As I Lay Dying, who ripped the place apart with massive pits, a heap of crowd surfers and the night’s second Wall of Death. The main act of the night, Asking Alexandria, kicked off their set but without frontman Danny Worsnop, but fans, who were a tad confused, still sang along. Eventually, Worsnop came out onstage to screaming fans and explained that he tore his vocal cord and wouldn’t be able to perform, but that his buds from I See Stars and Attila would take over the vocal duties. The band also got help from a multitalented roadie, who was busy setting up the equipment and taping down wires before they began, but graced the stage and tore it up on a few Asking Alexandria songs. However, it was the fans who really took over the vocal duties and belted out all of the words to all of the songs they performed. The most poignant moment of the set was the band dedicating their track ‘Someone, Somewhere’ to Mitch Lucker. The tune was sung by Us, From Outside vocalist Kenny Davis. When Asking Alexandria left the stage, the Suicide Silence classic ‘You Only Live Once’ played in honor of Lucker. Fans remembered him in the best way possible with massive pits, some serious crowd surfing and by singing the song word for word. Danny Worsnop did come out for the encore to perform the fan favorite ‘The Final Episode (Let’s Change the Channel).’ Worsnop and a bunch of his buddies destroyed the stage. As he invited fans up onstage with him, security couldn’t keep up with the swarm of crowd surfers. Check out all these bands on the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour; go here for the remaining dates. Asking Alexandria Involved in Tour Bus Accident

Instagram UK metalcore band Asking Alexandria were involved in a tour bus accident earlier today (Dec. 2) in the midst of their headlining run on the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour. No serious injuries have been reported, although the bus itself suffered some significant damage on the way from Cleveland, Ohio, to Chicago. The news was reported by a series of Tweets by various band members, who all seem to be okay, although lead guitarist Ben Bruce is nursing a sprained ankle. The Monster Outbreak tour also features As I Lay Dying, Memphis May Fire, I See Stars and Attila. In one of their tweets, Asking Alexandria promised fans that tonight’s Chicago show would still go on as planned. The North American tour is scheduled through Dec. 16 in Tampa, Fla. Below are separate tweets from Bruce, drummer James Cassells and guitarist Cameron Liddell, as well as the entire band, regarding the bus crash: So our bus had abit of a crash this morning! I See Stars Fill Suicide Silence’s Spot on 2012 Outbreak Tour

Facebook: I See Stars It’s been a roller-coaster few weeks for I See Stars , who were bounced off Falling in Reverse ‘s ‘ The Thug in Me Is You ‘ fall trek after disagreements with FIR singer Ronnie Radke . However, the group has rebounded rather well, filling the vacancy left by Suicide Silence on the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour . Headliners Asking Alexandria welcomed the band on board, and the group will play between tour openers Atilla and Memphis May Fire in the lineup. Suicide Silence had to drop out of the run after the tragic death of singer Mitch Lucker during a motorcycle crash on Halloween night. Asking Alexandria guitarist Ben Bruce said in a statement: First and foremost I would like to talk about a dear friend of mine who was prematurely taken from us this month. Mitch Lucker was one of the kindest and most passionate people I have ever had the pleasure of calling my friend. My thoughts are not only with his family and friends, but also with the millions of people, worldwide, who Mitch helped to mold and inspire into the people they are today. A great man was lost who’s love and passion reached all corners of the globe. As many of you know, Suicide Silence were preparing to join us on our upcoming ‘Outbreak’ Tour. Due to the devastating circumstances they will no longer be joining us physically. They will however, Mitch included, be with us in spirit. We will go out on this tour with As I Lay Dying , Memphis May Fire & Attila to pay our tributes and respects to Mitch and his brothers in Suicide Silence. A portion of all tickets and official tour t-shirts sold will go to Mitch‘s daughter for the Kenadee Lucker Education Fund. Suicide Silence could never be replaced on our tour as they are the only band in the world who could bring their element, intensity and power to the line-up. For the sake of giving the fans the best show we can under the circumstances, we have decided to add Sumerian Records family members I See Stars to the bill, NOT AS A REPLACEMENT BY ANY MEANS, but as another band who’s love and passion for music and their fans is as tried and true as ours. Now, more than ever, we need to come together to celebrate our collective love of music and to show compassion & solidarity in our scene. It’s time to put aside all petty differences and remember what it is that brings us all together, the music. Mitch – from myself and everyone else who will be taking part in this tour, you are forever in our hearts. This one’s for you. We love you. Cheers – Ben Bruce The Monster Energy Outbreak Tour launches Nov. 16 in Edmonton, Alberta and runs through a Dec. 16 finale in Tampa, Fla. Asking Alexandria Guitarist: Next Album Will Feature More ‘Radio Singles’

Facebook: Asking Alexandria Asking Alexandria continue to evolve with each record, and guitarist Ben Bruce tells Billboard that the UK metalcore band’s forthcoming release will be more of a balance between “radio friendly” rock and the “balls-to-the-wall” vibe of some of their earlier material. The guitarist explains, “[The new album is] a lot more mature. [We may have] a lot of radio singles — what we’re calling radio singles, songs we’re going to push towards radio and try to accelerate our career and get to the next level and hopefully bring our old fans across with us.” Though the band has a few more radio-friendly cuts, Bruce is quick to qualify, “[The rest of it will be] our usual balls-to-the-wall kind of stuff. We spent a long time honing in on our song structures and writing techniques and things like that, but there are still heavy songs on the record. We’re not just going to throw that away and kick our original fan base in the teeth by getting rid of all that. There will still be a lot of riffing and screaming. But we feel like we did find a happy medium between being heavy and then being light enough to be on radio, but still keeping the balls in the songs.” Bruce says the band is also staying true to their instruments, revealing that on their last record there were some “fake” noises from computer input. This time, however, the guitarist says things are more organic with a real orchestra backing them up and a church gospel choir singing on a few tracks. Earlier this year, singer Danny Worsnop said of the new music , “It’s literally the best album we can write at this point in time. We spent a lot more time on the music. We spent a lot of time working on these songs and making them be as good as they can possibly be … It’s much more positive than anything we’ve done before. There’s some positive uplifting messages.” While the group has yet to title their album, they have unleashed a new track called ‘Run Free’ that’s being used to promote their headlining stint on the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour . The trek launches Nov. 16 in Edmonton, Ontario. The new album is expected in the first half of 2013.
