Nikki Sixx Gets Engaged to Courtney Bingham, Continues Work on New Motley Crue Songs

John Sciulli, Getty Images Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx is surely all smiles right now, as he’s been revealing a mess of good news during the last few days. Along with the bassist giving fans an update on the progress of Motley Crue’s new material, Sixx has just announced that he popped the question to his model girlfriend Courtney Bingham, officially snatching her up as the future Mrs. Sixx. Sixx is one of heavy metal’s most active musicians when it comes to social media. The bassist’s Facebook and Twitter accounts are both constantly being updated by Nikki himself to keep in close contact with his legions of fans, and those very fans have come out in droves to congratulate Sixx on the engagement. This will be the bassist’s third marriage, having previously tied the knot with Playboy Playmate Brandi Brandt and Baywatch actress Donna D’Errico. Earlier today (Nov. 26), Sixx posted the news of his most recent engagement on his Facebook page: When Courtney and I were in St Bart’s I popped the question and she said YES….We would like to thank everybody who has been tweeting and posting online us congratulations….Both of us and our families are beyond happy….. The warm sentiments from fans have been pouring in since the announcement. Sixx also used Facebook to  update  fans on the progress of Motley Crue’s new material, writing the following message over the weekend: So glad we recorded the new “Motley Crue” track “Sex” and actually got it out in time for the last tour for you to hear live. Obviously there is much more to come (as always). Mick Mars told me he has so many riffs ready to go too….But “Sex” was just a taste of some “New Crue”. I’ve personally been writing my ass off for months now. Feeling really inspired to follow it up with the rest of the songs from the band too……. Have a great weekend… Rock n Roll…… Congrats to Nikki Sixx and Courtney Bingham and best wishes for their life as husband and wife. Motley Crue’s Nikki Sixx Creating Broadway Play Based on ‘Heroin Diaries’ Memoir

Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx  may hold some sort of record when it comes to turning something negative into a positive. Sixx found success with his memoir ‘The Heroin Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star’ in 2007, and now the bassist has revealed that he’ll be turning the book into a Broadway play. Sixx confirmed his plans for a ‘Heroin Diaries’ play via Twitter earlier today. “I’ve been getting asked this a lot lately…The answer is: Yes, “The Heroin Diaries” book is being turned into a Broadway play.” Sixx adds on his Facebook page, “More news to follow in the next few months….Were getting pretty far down the road…We hope for a late 2013 or early 2014 for it to open…” The 413-page collection of diary entries were written between Christmas of 1986 and Christmas of 1987, detailing the the recording of the band’s classic ‘Girls, Girls, Girls’ album, Sixx’s heroin overdose that momentarily left him clinically dead and much more. This is not the first time Sixx has taken ‘Heroin Diaries’ to another medium. His band Sixx: A.M. ‘s first album, ‘The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack,’ serves as a companion to the book. Stay tuned for more news on Nikki Sixx’s upcoming musical as news breaks. Def Leppard Announce 2013 Las Vegas Residency

Yet another rock band has announced that they will launch a Las Vegas residency. With bands such as Motley Crue and Guns N’ Roses having successful tenures in Sin City, Def Leppard are the latest act to confirm a series of shows in Vegas. Def Leppard’s residency will be titled ‘Viva Hysteria!’ and will be focused around the band’s most beloved album, ‘Hysteria.’ The group will be playing the record in its entirety, which features the legendary tracks, ‘Animal,’ ‘Love Bites’ and ‘Pour Some Sugar on Me,’ along with select hits from their other albums. The famed Hard Rock Hotel and Casino will host Def Leppard’s residency, with nine shows scheduled to begin on March 22. “We’re very happy to be part of what I call the first wave of rockers to take Vegas back from the lounge singers — Wayne Newton and his type,” Def Leppard frontman Joe Elliott tells USA Today . “Things like ‘Run Riot,’ ‘Don’t Shoot Shotgun’ and ‘Love and Affection’ got left by the wayside because of the popularity of other songs that, to be frank, if you don’t play them live, you don’t get out of the building alive. The oddest thing is going to be doing ‘Sugar’ fifth. In many respects, it’s like the Troggs opening with Wild Thing.” Elliot continues, “The downtime will not go to waste. Two of the guys in the band live in Dublin and the other three live in California. This is a great opportunity for a band that has decided to live all over the world to be in one room at one time, to look each other in the eyes and to come up with ideas.” Ultimate Classic Rock actually spoke with Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen earlier this year about the possibility of a Las Vegas residency. “We’ve been talking about this for 10 years, me and Joe Elliot, more than anyone else. We [would] do [whole albums like] ‘Hysteria’ or we do ‘Pyromania’ one night and something like that would be great, but we’ve just talked about it. Obviously we haven’t got it into gear, it would be cool. It’s getting the time to do it in a venue; I think that’s brilliant Motley Crue doing it.” Check out Def Leppard’s upcoming Vegas dates below. Tickets go on sale Nov. 16. Def Leppard 2013 Las Vegas Residency Dates: March 22 March 23 March 27 March 29 March 30 April 3 April 5 April 6 April 10

Motley Crue’s Nikki Sixx Opens Up About Grandfather’s Cancer Battle

Michael Buckner, Getty Images In today’s social media world, we have more access than ever to our favorite rockers, and that means often seeing more than just the idol onstage but the actual person as well. One such case is happening at present with Motley Crue ‘s Nikki Sixx , who is sharing with fans his personal anguish as he deals with his grandfather’s battle with cancer. Sixx has been very open in sharing his own issues with fans over the years. He chronicled his early career drug dependency in the book ‘The Heroin Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star.’ He then opened up musically about the experience, forming the band Sixx: A.M. to share his thoughts musically. Plus, he’s become a radio personality with his ‘Sixx Sense’ show over the years, which gives him another outlet to speak his mind. In a deeply personal and cathartic letter written to his fans via his Facebook page , Sixx is attempting not only to share what he’s going through, but to open discussion with others dealing with similar issues. The letter reads as follows: I’ve been sharing my insides with you for so long I guess there is no reason to stop now. On some level this is how I connect and hopefully relate some event, place or time to each others lives … I agree it’s odd to do it on Facebook or Twitter (or any other social media portal) but I guess like you, I am trying to work out the wrinkles, iron out the kinks and maybe feel some relief from the pain that comes with life sometimes. It’s been really hard holding it together the last few months with my grandfather Tom being so sick. Watching him change daily breaks my heart as he is slowly breaking down. The doctors gave him 3 to 6 months to live 4 months ago … This prostate cancer is a ticking time bomb and our hearts are breaking in slow motion … The reality of it all is kicking in for my whole family … Why do I tell you this? Cause maybe I am not the only one in pain. We all deal with it in different ways. I can’t run to a bottle or a bindle of powder so I talk about it and as it happens, usually write music about it … This man was there for me like a father. He never let me down … he was a role model and my biggest fan … The water run’s deep between us so the blade of the knife also hits the bone … Love is a two edged swords … So we learn with death at our footsteps… Thank you for listening … I actually would love to hear your story too. We at Loudwire send our positive thoughts to Nikki Sixx as he goes through this difficult period. Guns N’ Roses’ Las Vegas Residency Leads to Temporary Road Name Change

Theo Wargo, Getty Images The city of Las Vegas is definitely pulling out the stops for Guns N’ Roses upcoming residency at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino . The latest welcome gift for the band was the temporary renaming of one of Las Vegas’ streets to mark the occasion, as Paradise Road will now be known as Paradise City Road. Blabbermouth reports that Clark County Commissioner Mary Beth Scow will declare the street as Paradise City Road during an official ceremony this coming Monday (Oct. 29) at 2:30PM local time. The band members will be presented with an official street sign, though in a recent Facebook posting , it looks as though they’ve already seen it. The group is expected to address the crowd and pose for photos. Guns N’ Roses residency runs from Oct. 31-Nov. 24 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Much like they did when Motley Crue came to town, the casino will have special Guns N’ Roses $25 chips to gamble with during the run. In addition, the casino has come up with a number of specialty themed Guns N’ Roses drinks , including such thirst-quenching concoctions as the November Rain, the Patience Punch, the Paradise City Limits and the Axl Rose. Guns N’ Roses have been making more high profile appearances leading up to the shows. The band recently performed at Neil Young ‘s Bridge School benefit and Axl Rose made an extremely rare late night appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live .
