Metallica vs. Pantera – 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl, Championship Round

2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl Championship Talk about your clash of the titans! The 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl championship is one for the ages with two heavy metal legends — Metallica and Pantera — sending their powerful, hard-hitting tracks against each other to determine which is the best football anthem. On one side, you’ve got Metallica. The metal mavens have made mincemeat out of the competition, besting Volbeat’s ‘A Warrior’s Call’ with 71 percent of the vote, cutting up Papa Roach’s ‘Last Resort’ into pieces with 64 percent of the final tally and then finally staving off some fierce competition from Avenged Sevenfold’s ‘Seize the Day,’ but emerging victorious with 67 percent of the vote. And it’s no wonder Metallica are still around because ‘Seek and Destroy’ is as intense as they come. This amped up rocker about looking for a fight is just the kind of competitive song that you would expect to be a stadium rocker. But this may be Metallica’s toughest battle yet as Pantera’s ‘F—ing Hostile’ is ready to throw down. Pantera narrowly edged Drowning Pool’s ‘Bodies” with 53 percent of the vote in the first round, but this moshpit banger is just getting stronger with each round. ‘F—ing Hostile’ took out Korn’s ‘Freak on a Leash’ with 72 percent of the final tally and the song demolished Slipknot’s ‘Wait and Bleed’ in the semifinals with just shy of 64 percent of the vote. With Phil Anselmo ‘s brutal pent-up aggression oozing all over this track, it’s no wonder the song has advanced and survived. ‘F—ing Hostile’ is just the type of track you need to get amped up for some hard-hitting gridiron action. So there you have it, our final two. Which is the better football anthem — Metallica’s ‘Seek and Destroy’ or Pantera’s ‘F—ing Hostile’? Your votes will decide the 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl Champion. Listen to both tracks below and then vote for your favorite. You can vote once per hour from now through Monday, Feb. 4 at 10AM ET, at which point a champion will be crowned. Metallica vs. Avenged Sevenfold – 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl, Semifinals

Loudwire Rock Bowl Semifinals Well, isn’t this an interesting matchup? Metallica ‘s ‘Seek and Destroy’ squares off against Avenged Sevenfold ‘s ‘Seize the Day’ to determine which act will advance to the finals of the 2013 Loudwire Bowl. Two very different songs, but each with a title that helps define football. Metallica’s ‘Seek and Destroy’ has enjoyed a relatively easy patch to the semifinals, besting Volbeat’s ‘A Warrior’s Call’ in the first round earning 71 percent of the vote and staving off Papa Roach’s ‘Last Resort’ in the quarterfinals with just shy of 64 percent of the final tally. As for ‘Seek and Destroy,’ the hard-hitting song has what it takes to amp up just about anyone and the talk of starting a fight is just the competitive spirit you want out of a football song. As for Avenged Sevenfold, they outlasted Shinedown’s ‘Devour’ in Round 1 by earning just shy of 64 percent of the vote. Then, in the quarterfinals, their fans rallied to boost them past Disturbed’s ‘Indestructible’ with 60 percent of the vote. Though the track may not be as hard as some of their competitors, the song is no less inspiring. Name an NFL player, especially during playoff time, that can’t identify with the sentiment “Seize the day or die regretting the time you lost.” The song rings true with the idea of making every moment count. Will ‘Seek and Destroy’ advance and survive or will ‘Seize the Day’ live up to its title? The battle begins now and you can vote once per hour to help ensure your favorite moves on to the 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl. Voting continues through this Friday (Feb. 1) at 10AM ET. Slipknot vs. Rob Zombie – 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl, Quarterfinals

2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl Quarterfinals If you can’t get amped up with these two songs vying to advance in this 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl matchup, then you might want to check your pulse to see if you’re still alive. It’s Slipknot ‘s ‘Wait and Bleed’ squaring off against  Rob Zombie ‘s ‘Superbeast’ in the quarterfinals. Though P.O.D.’s ‘Boom’ may be an NFL stadium favorite, the track proved to be no match to Slipknot’s ‘Wait and Bleed,’ which received 70 percent of the vote in the first round. Singer Corey Taylor ‘s pent up angst on the track is just waiting to be released and the act of psyching yourself up to pound pads with an opposing player is not uncommon for an NFL player. Meanwhile, Rob Zombie barely escaped round one with ‘Superbeast’ receiving just over 50 percent of the vote over Five Finger Death Punch’s ‘Back for More,’ making it the closest match of the first round. Zombie’s highly aggressive, hard-driving track can raise your heartbeats per minute rather easily. But does this ‘Superbeast’ have what it takes to best Slipknot? Here’s your chance to let your voice be heard. Vote in the poll below between now and Jan. 30 at 10AM ET. You can vote once per hour for your favorite between Slipknot and Rob Zombie. Nikki Sixx Wins Bassist of the Year in the 2012 Loudwire Music Awards

Michael Buckner, Getty Images Congrats to Nikki Sixx , the winner of the 2012 Loudwire Music Award for Bassist of the Year. The veteran rocker carried over some of his Sixx: A.M. momentum from 2011 and then kept things going by joining Motley Crue for their summer tour with Kiss. In addition, the Crue did keep fans satiated with their new single, ‘Sex.’ Sixx took home a massive 30.45 percent of the vote, showing that his popularity has not waned over his storied career. In fact, it was another well-known veteran bassist that Sixx beat to take home the title. Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea, who entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with his band this year, finished a distant second with just over 19 percent of the vote. The only other bass hero to receive a double-digit voting tally was Tremonti and Van Halen wunderkind Wolfgang Van Halen, who eeked out 10 percent of the fan voting. Congrats to Sixx on winning the 2012 Loudwire Music Awards Bassist of the Year honor. Look out for a potential repeat victory in 2013 with Sixx expected to have new records out from both Crue and Sixx: A.M.
