Metallica vs. Pantera – 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl, Championship Round

2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl Championship Talk about your clash of the titans! The 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl championship is one for the ages with two heavy metal legends — Metallica and Pantera — sending their powerful, hard-hitting tracks against each other to determine which is the best football anthem. On one side, you’ve got Metallica. The metal mavens have made mincemeat out of the competition, besting Volbeat’s ‘A Warrior’s Call’ with 71 percent of the vote, cutting up Papa Roach’s ‘Last Resort’ into pieces with 64 percent of the final tally and then finally staving off some fierce competition from Avenged Sevenfold’s ‘Seize the Day,’ but emerging victorious with 67 percent of the vote. And it’s no wonder Metallica are still around because ‘Seek and Destroy’ is as intense as they come. This amped up rocker about looking for a fight is just the kind of competitive song that you would expect to be a stadium rocker. But this may be Metallica’s toughest battle yet as Pantera’s ‘F—ing Hostile’ is ready to throw down. Pantera narrowly edged Drowning Pool’s ‘Bodies” with 53 percent of the vote in the first round, but this moshpit banger is just getting stronger with each round. ‘F—ing Hostile’ took out Korn’s ‘Freak on a Leash’ with 72 percent of the final tally and the song demolished Slipknot’s ‘Wait and Bleed’ in the semifinals with just shy of 64 percent of the vote. With Phil Anselmo ‘s brutal pent-up aggression oozing all over this track, it’s no wonder the song has advanced and survived. ‘F—ing Hostile’ is just the type of track you need to get amped up for some hard-hitting gridiron action. Pantera vs. Korn – 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl, Quarterfinals

2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl, Quarterfinals We’ve got two distinctively different sounding hard rock tracks advancing to the quarterfinals of the Loudwire Rock Bowl in Pantera ‘s thrashy favorite ‘F—ing Hostile’ entering the arena against Korn ‘s style-shifting rocker ‘Freak on a Leash.’ Pantera’s ‘F—ing Hostile’ barely made it out of the first round with 53 percent of the vote against stiff competition from Drowning Pool’s ‘Bodies.’ But make no mistake, Pantera are definitely ready to hype up their listeners with this classic. You can just envision an NFL defensive end unleashing untold destruction in the backfield thanks after getting amped to the pent-up energy of this track. Korn, meanwhile, had things a little easier with ‘Freak on a Leash’ outlasting System of a Down’s ‘Psycho.’ Earning just shy of 59 percent of the final tally, the band is ready to unleash their ‘Freak’ on Pantera, much like an onrushing cornerback blitz. Machine Head Perform Pantera’s ‘F—ing Hostile’ in Memory of Dimebag Darrell

Facebook: Machine Head It’s been eight years since the tragic onstage murder of Pantera / Damageplan guitar legend ‘Dimebag’ Darrell Abbott , but the utter outpouring of love, respect and the desire to memorialize the man has not diminished one iota. Among those who honored Dimebag’s legacy this year are  Robb Flynn and the rest of Machine Head . On Saturday, Dec. 8, the eighth anniversary of Dimebag’s passing, Machine Head performed a set in Atlanta, Ga. After concluding the song ‘Beautiful Mourning,’ Machine Head frontman Robb Flynn began to address the Atlanta audience about the death of Dimebag, along with the morbid and unfortunate anniversary day. “I’m sure all of you know, or maybe some of you don’t know, but today is Dec. 8th,” begins Flynn. “Eight years ago; this is f—ing mind-boggling to even believe, but eight years ago, Dimebag Darrell was killed onstage, man. The legacy that that man left in the world, the footprint that that dude left on the f—ing entire metal universe was unf—ing believable.” Flynn continues, “We called him a brother, man. We were friends. We had so many incredible drunken f—ing nights and hung over mornings on those two tours that we did with them. He was an amazing, amazing individual … We’re not here to celebrate his death, we’re here to celebrate his life right now, ladies and gentlemen.” After the heart-wrenching speech, Machine Head blasted into a cover of Pantera’s ‘F—ing Hostile,’ which received an explosive reaction from the crowd (watch below). Halfway across the country in Kansas City, Mo., Hellyeah , Lamb of God , In Flames and Sylosis were also paying tribute to the beloved guitarist by kicking back shots of Black Tooth Grin, Dimebag’s signature mix of whisky and Coke.
