Metallica vs. Pantera – 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl, Championship Round

2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl Championship Talk about your clash of the titans! The 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl championship is one for the ages with two heavy metal legends — Metallica and Pantera — sending their powerful, hard-hitting tracks against each other to determine which is the best football anthem. On one side, you’ve got Metallica. The metal mavens have made mincemeat out of the competition, besting Volbeat’s ‘A Warrior’s Call’ with 71 percent of the vote, cutting up Papa Roach’s ‘Last Resort’ into pieces with 64 percent of the final tally and then finally staving off some fierce competition from Avenged Sevenfold’s ‘Seize the Day,’ but emerging victorious with 67 percent of the vote. And it’s no wonder Metallica are still around because ‘Seek and Destroy’ is as intense as they come. This amped up rocker about looking for a fight is just the kind of competitive song that you would expect to be a stadium rocker. But this may be Metallica’s toughest battle yet as Pantera’s ‘F—ing Hostile’ is ready to throw down. Pantera narrowly edged Drowning Pool’s ‘Bodies” with 53 percent of the vote in the first round, but this moshpit banger is just getting stronger with each round. ‘F—ing Hostile’ took out Korn’s ‘Freak on a Leash’ with 72 percent of the final tally and the song demolished Slipknot’s ‘Wait and Bleed’ in the semifinals with just shy of 64 percent of the vote. With Phil Anselmo ‘s brutal pent-up aggression oozing all over this track, it’s no wonder the song has advanced and survived. ‘F—ing Hostile’ is just the type of track you need to get amped up for some hard-hitting gridiron action. Pantera vs. Korn – 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl, Quarterfinals

2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl, Quarterfinals We’ve got two distinctively different sounding hard rock tracks advancing to the quarterfinals of the Loudwire Rock Bowl in Pantera ‘s thrashy favorite ‘F—ing Hostile’ entering the arena against Korn ‘s style-shifting rocker ‘Freak on a Leash.’ Pantera’s ‘F—ing Hostile’ barely made it out of the first round with 53 percent of the vote against stiff competition from Drowning Pool’s ‘Bodies.’ But make no mistake, Pantera are definitely ready to hype up their listeners with this classic. You can just envision an NFL defensive end unleashing untold destruction in the backfield thanks after getting amped to the pent-up energy of this track. Korn, meanwhile, had things a little easier with ‘Freak on a Leash’ outlasting System of a Down’s ‘Psycho.’ Earning just shy of 59 percent of the final tally, the band is ready to unleash their ‘Freak’ on Pantera, much like an onrushing cornerback blitz. So which track deserves to advance as the better football anthem? That’s for you to decide. Rob Zombie vs. Five Finger Death Punch – 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl, Round 1

Photos by Liz Ramanand, Loudwire Hope you’ve got your pads on for this one! And where else but in the trenches would you expect to find a super beast? On the other hand, there’s Five Finger Death Punch, who’ve been cranking out aggressive hit after hit over the last half-decade. The band’s hot streak included the song ‘Back for More,’ which delivers the messages, “ Let’s get it on / It’s time to get in the game / You gotta fight til it hurts and then you do it again .” This dog-eat-dog track is about emerging victorious and not sparing the weak. Slipknot vs. P.O.D. – 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl, Round 1

It’s time to get amped up for some football and in our 2013 Loudwire Rock Bowl, we’re attempting to find out which track gets you most in the mood for gridiron aggression. This first round matchup pits the masked rockers of Slipknot against the “Southtown” favorites, P.O.D. While Slipknot offer plenty of unrelenting tracks, ‘Wait and Bleed’ is arguably the best fit the most for football. As Corey Taylor sings about the hate raising up inside of him, the listener can definitely apply that to the competition at hand. And given the violent nature of football, there will definitely be some bleeding coming soon. P.O.D.’s hit song ‘Boom’ has long been a sports anthem, with singer Sonny Sandoval seemingly calling out the competition after a particularly hard hit. As the song says, “ Boom! / Here comes the boom! / How you like me now? ” There’s no mistaking that sentiment when it comes to football. Which one of these rock warriors will be left standing when Round 1 is complete? That’s up to you to decide. Listen to both tracks below, then vote in the poll provided.
