Ignited Flare at Soundwave Festival Leaves Female Fan With Serious Burns

Soundwavefestival.com The Sydney stop of Australia’s Soundwave Festival was marred Sunday (Feb. 24) by an audience member who decided to let off a flare that set off a fire during Bring Me the Horizon ‘s performance. One female fan in particular suffered serious burns on her forearm after she was struck by debris from the flare. According to the Daily Telegraph , the audience member set off a magnesium flare in the moshpit, with police reporting that a burnt piece of plastic fell on the woman causing the burns. She was rushed to the hospital where she underwent emergency surgery. Meanwhile, Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah took to Twitter to voice his displeasure at the incident. He stated, “Dear piece of s— who lit the flare in the BMTH pit: Tonight you seriously burned and disfigured a young girl. I hope you f—ing get yours. If we catch anyone w/flares you’ll not only be evicted/arrested, I’ll dedicate every iota of energy and money I can muster to ruin your life. If anyone can correctly identify this son of a b—-, I will shower you with so much tickets, backstage and cash you won’t know what to do. If you see anyone with a lit flare please take their photo and tweet me so I can hand to police.” Maddah would later tweet in response to a question about the injured fan, “Poor little thing is really hurt. Massive awful burn on her forearm. I am devastated for her. ” Shortly after his Twitter rant, Maddah posted , “Thank you twitterverse. We now have images of this jerk from multiple angles. Hopefully we can post ASAP and get him identified.” At press time, there was no confirmation of the person who lit the flare being caught. Black Sabbath Continue Recording New Album, Reveal Vinyl Box Set Details

Tim Whitby, Getty Images We’re getting closer and closer to a new Black Sabbath album, and the latest update involves bassist Geezer Butler . The band  posted a photo (seen below) of an empty stool and a bass guitar where Butler apparently would be setting up shop for the day. If that wasn’t enough, they spelled it out by saying, “Geezer Butler is all set to record some more bass tracks on the new album today.” Guitarist Tony Iommi recently revealed that while the band does intend on having their next album ready by April, recording is still afoot on the disc. Black Sabbath should be in the home stretch though, as not only do they have a specific time frame for the album release, but they’ve started booking tour dates for 2013 , as well. Meanwhile, Black Sabbath fans will have something to tide them over until the new disc arrives, as the group has announced a Dec. 12 release for their ‘Black Sabbath The Vinyl Collection: 1970-1978. The limited edition box set celebrates the iconic albums of the band’s full original lineup. Included in the box set (seen below) are full reproductions of the original album releases, remastered from the band’s personal archives on 180-gram heavyweight vinyl. In addition, the poster from ‘Masters of Reality’ and photo insert book from ‘Volume 4′ will be part of the set. And fans can relish in having a 7-inch copy of the group’s debut single ‘Evil Woman,’ backed by the non-album b-side ‘Wicked World.’ Also included as part of the box set is a hardback book featuring the original tour programs from the band’s 1970, 1975, 1976 and 1978 treks and a “Back to Black Sabbath” download voucher good for easy download of the full set. Halestorm, In This Moment + Eve to Adam Deliver Blistering Performances in Los Angeles

Photo: Kathy Flynn (3) While most bands are winding down their 2012 touring, there’s still one hard-rocking bill going that’s definitely worth the price of admission, as Halestorm , In This Moment , and Eve to Adam are making their way across the country and bringing attitude, theatrics, and just a good ‘ol fashioned rock show to audiences on a nightly basis. Their travels took them to the Los Angeles House of Blues in West Hollywood Wednesday night (Nov. 13), and the crowd was thoroughly rocked by the end of the night. Eve to Adam opened the evening in impressive form. They took the opening slot and warmed-up the audience for the night with a blistering set that featured their such standouts as ‘No Regret,’ ‘Run Your Mouth,’ and their salute to the military, ‘Reach.’ Singer Taki Sassaris, battling through a cold, kept the energy level high by jumping into the pit filled with fans and tossing his shirt midway through the set as the band rocked through a cover of Billy Idol’s ‘Rebel Yell.’ Guitarist Guarav Bali handled the usual Steve Stevens solo from the track with ease, and really energized the audience for the remainder of the set. The show also offered a chance for Eve to Adam to showcase a pair of new songs, with ‘Bender’ feeling like a natural fit as a future audience favorite and ‘Straightjacket Supermodel,’ stirring up the crowd as well. Next up was the highly theatric Maria Brink and her band In This Moment. Brink, a vision in white with a long flowing cape, delivered a captivating performance, while ably backed by her grimy-looking cohorts. The group had fans waving their arms and clapping at will to tracks such as ‘Rise With Me,’ ‘Adrenalize,’ and ‘Beast Within,’ while the audience lit up with lighters and cell phones for ‘Burn.’ Their set ended with the transfixed crowd rocking out to the band’s recent single ‘ Blood .’ As for headliners Halestorm, they did not disappoint. Lzzy Hale and crew took the stage to the sounds of ‘Mz. Hyde,’ ‘Love Bites (So Do I), and ‘Freak Like Me.’ They had the look of a band on top of their game, and unlike the other two acts of the night, they took the opportunity to bring things down a bit. After the raucous ‘Rock Show,’ the band exited while Hale performed the track ‘Break In’ on piano at the side of the stage. She would be rejoined by the rest of the band for their excellent cover of Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Gold Dust Woman’ before amping things up again with ‘Familiar Taste of Poison.’ An Arejay Hale drum solo with the shirtless redhead rocking away with furious abandon followed, with Hale even breaking out giant drum sticks to the delight of the audience. The rest of the show was filled with favorites like a cover of Skid Row’s ‘Slave to the Grind,’ “It’s Not You,’ ‘Here’s to Us,’ and the set closers ‘I Get Off’ and ‘I Miss the Misery.’ For the remaining dates on the Halestorm, In This Moment and Eve to Adam trek, check here .
