Best Rob Zombie Album – Readers Poll

Frazer Harrison, Getty Images Rob Zombie has been releasing music since 1987, providing us with memorable tracks as a solo artist and as the frontman for White Zombie . Today’s Readers Poll asks you — Rob Zombie fans — what is the best album the singer has released? We’ll start with the early Rob Zombie years, when he was fronting White Zombie. The band’s 1987 debut, ‘Soul-Crusher,’ was described as noise rock by many critics. With tracks like ‘Drowning the Colossus,’ ‘Die Zombie Die’ and ‘Future Shock’ leading the way, admiration for the disc has only grown since its release. That was followed by their 1989 effort, ‘Make Them Die Slowly.’ Their sophomore set found them dipping more into thrash metal but admittedly the band was not completely happy with the outcome. The group’s frustration with their sophomore set primed them for a breakout with their third album. White Zombie’s ‘La Sexorcisto: Devil Music, Vol. 1′ arrived in 1992 and found some radio and video love with ‘Thunder Kiss ’65′ and ‘Black Sunshine.’ White Zombie’s tenure came to an end with 1995′s ‘Astro-Creep: 2000,’ but not before spawning another hit single in ‘More Human Than Human’ and fan favorite tracks ‘Real Solution #9′ and ‘Super-Charger Heaven.’ On the solo front, Rob Zombie has been responsible for four records. ‘Hellbilly Deluxe’ arrived in 1998, featuring the immediate hits ‘Dragula’ and ‘Living Dead Girl,’ as well as fan favorite, ‘Superbeast.’ 2001 brought ‘The Sinister Urge,’ which spawned ‘Feels So Numb,’ the groovy ‘Never Gonna Stop (Red Red Kroovy)’ and ‘Demon Speeding.’ Zombie slid a little commercially with 2006′s ‘Educated Horses.’ However, the album did feature the singles ‘Foxy Foxy,’ ‘American Witch’ and ‘Let It All Bleed.’ Zombie went back to the well and rediscovered his energy with ‘Hellbilly Deluxe 2.’ The 2010 album featured the songs ‘What?’ and ‘Sick Bubblegum.’ So there you have it — eight albums from Rob Zombie’s career. Let us know which album you think was the best in the Readers Poll listed below. Sorry, you need to have javascript running to see this poll. Marilyn Manson Requires 24 Stitches on His Ear Following Fight in Switzerland

Liz Ramanand, Loudwire / Marilyn Manson Twitter Marilyn Manson is not afraid to stand up for himself, but in doing so recently in Switzerland the rocker came out a little worse for wear. In fact, the musician needed 24 stitches to sew up part of his air after a brawl. The entertainer who once released the track ‘The Fight Song’ did not go into detail about the scuffle, other than to reveal that the injury came about when he was struck with a glass table. Manson discussed the incident via Twitter and also included a photo of his ear after the procedure. Manson has been touring through Europe along with  Rob Zombie  as part of the “ Twins of Evil “ tour. The rocker has enjoyed a career resurrection this past year, with the single ‘ No Reflection ‘ and album ‘ Born Villain ‘ both making the cut in the Loudwire  Best Rock Songs  and  Best Rock Albums  of 2012 lists. Check out his tweets about his scuffle and ear injury here: I was hit by a glass table in a dangerous fight. Adler, ‘Back From the Dead’ – Album Review

New Ocean Media In the past few years, Steven Adler has made more headlines for his wacky one-liners and past substance abuse than he has from his musical endeavors, but all that’s about to change with the release of his new disc ‘Back From the Dead.’ With a title that’s as literal as it is figurative, it delivers one of the purest, straight-up rock albums of the year — chock full of the grit and grime that only comes with experience. Adler , who finally saw his future beyond the looming shadow of Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose, formed his own band of talented gunslingers to create his new eponymous outfit Adler. The rocky past that led him here from being booted out of Guns N’ Roses for drug addiction so many years ago to his subsequent stints in rehab and reality TV, certainly wasn’t an easy road, but in retrospect it’s made him who he is today, and that is someone who’s hard not to root for. He’s a real rock star in the truest sense, having experienced the rise and fall of it all, only to pick up all the pieces and do it all again with reckless abandon. Arguably, one of Adler’s best decisions this time around was recruiting his current band. Tapping singer and, most importantly, songwriter Jacob Bunton from Lynam, Lonny Paul on guitar and bassist Johnny Martin, the collective known simply as Adler are not resting on the talent of Adler alone, functioning as a band in the truest sense with all parts equal, and that is felt throughout from start to finish. Oh, and while we’re on the topic of the finished product, the disc was produced by Jeff Pilson, who also played bass on the recording before Martin became a permanent fixture. ‘Back From the Dead’ starts off with the title track, a swanky little number that invites the listener in with a soothing bluesy vibe before exploding into the general theme of the disc: “ I’m back from the dead / I’ve got no regrets / I may forgive but I won’t forget .” With a Stone Temple Pilots feel throughout, the song makes a serious statement and that statement is a simple ‘f— you’ to anyone that stands in their way. It’s that common sentiment that plays throughout, as Adler finally finds his footing, unhinged from his past and forging on with his future. And what’s a great rock disc without a few special appearances, especially when those appearances come from two of the best guitarists of the modern era. Adler’s old bandmate and friend Slash joins the fun on the track ‘Just Don’t Ask.’ A song that starts out with a beautiful instrumental courtesy of the aforementioned top-hatted one before morphing into a ballady love song with a huge chorus and a signature Slash solo mid-song. Overall, it’s a beautifully executed spot of vulnerability in an otherwise rough around the edges collection of songs. But that’s not where the guest spots end. Rob Zombie ace John 5 lends his talents on ‘Good To Be Bad’ and his signature fretwork helps mold the song into one of the most dynamic the disc has to offer. Without so much as a stumble along the way, it was hard to make it through the 11 tracks without wanting to hear them all again. From the sexy vibe of ‘Your Diamonds’ to the harrowing lyrics of ‘Habit,’ and the straight up ass-kicking delivered courtesy of ‘Blown Away – ‘Back From the Dead’ delivers on all facets. Perhaps the proverbial nail in the coffin on closing out the past, the disc ends with the prophetic anthem ‘Dead Wrong,’ “ You’re dead wrong / I was right to let you go / Cuz I’m better off on my own / I’m alright and I’m moving on / You were dead wrong ,” Bunton screams out over a punishing bass line. A song about overcoming the odds, moving on, and conquering the rock world, something that Adler has truly accomplished with ‘Back From the Dead,’ we can only hope they stick around for awhile and enjoy the ride.

Ozzy Osbourne Elected President of Heavy Metal

What an amazing election! After close calls, intense moments and incredible campaign efforts, the President of Heavy Metal has finally been elected. The winner is the one and only  Ozzy Osbourne . The Black Sabbath singer has captured the hearts of heavy metal music fans with his wailing voice and legendary debauchery, leading him to the evil office in a nail-bitingly close final round. Defeating GWAR’s Oderus Urungus , Maynard James Keenan and Rob Halford in previous rounds, the final battle pitted Ozzy against Rob Zombie . Zombie himself had defeated such legends as Bruce Dickinson , Dave Mustaine and Lemmy Kilmister on his way to the final round. The lead changed hands a number of times as both Zombie and Ozzy began to actually campaign for the title of President, with Zombie’s team creating custom graphics for multiple Facebook posts and Ozzy’s team busting out an old ‘Ozzy for President’ button and enlisting the help of his wife Sharon and son Jack to collect votes via Twitter. After roughly 100,000 votes, Ozzy edged out Zombie by a margin of 50.82 percent to 49.18 percent. Congrats to the ‘Prince of Darkness’ for winning Loudwire’s inaugural President of Heavy Metal Election and thanks to everyone who voted and made this whole race such a blast! Rob Zombie vs. Ozzy Osbourne – President of Heavy Metal Election, Finals

After starting out with 16 candidates and following two extremely close semifinal matches, Rob Zombie and Ozzy Osbourne have emerged as the final contenders for the coveted position of President of Heavy Metal. Your votes got them to this point, and now your votes will help decide the ultimate winner. Zombie narrowly defeated Motorhead legend Lemmy Kilmister in his semifinal battle, while Osbourne took down the ‘Metal God’ himself, Judas Priest’s Rob Halford, by the slimmest of margins. Now, the two face off to determine who will become the President of Heavy Metal. Will it be Rob Zombie? The frontman has taken the metal world by storm over the last 25 years as both a member of White Zombie and as a successful solo act. Or will it be Ozzy Osbourne? As both the lead singer of the godfathers of heavy metal, Black Sabbath, and as an iconic solo artist, the Prince of Darkness has left a tremendous impact on heavy metal music. Yes, we know there’s another election going on, as well, and we encourage all U.S. citizens of age to vote, but the President of Heavy Metal election is open to everyone in the metal universe, regardless of age or nationality. So exercise your right to vote, and help determine who will hold the all-important post of President of Heavy Metal. Voting for the finals ends Nov. 6 at 11:59PM ET.
