Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com / Ethan Miller, Getty Images Lacuna Coil have enjoyed a solid year touring behind their ‘ Dark Adrenaline ‘ album and it looks as though 2013 will start off on a high note, as well. The band has just announced a February run with Sevendust that will keep them in the U.S. for the entire month. Lacuna Coil have been spreading the sounds of ‘Dark Adrenaline’ around the world this past year and is eager to continue their support back in America. The trek launches Feb. 2 in Winston-Salem, N.C. and continues through the Feb. 23 finale in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Tickets for the tour go on sale this Friday (Nov. 30). To help fans stay in the loop with the Italian rockers, the band launched their own social network-fan community with the help of Mobile Backstage back in October right as they were starting their ‘Dark Legacy’ tour of Europe. The app has been available through the band’s website, Facebook page and for iPhone and Android. As for Sevendust, the band just announced a March 26 release for their ninth studio album, ‘ Black Out the Sun .’ The band will issue their lead single ‘Decay’ on Jan. 22, giving it enough time to catch hold at radio before the tour launches. Dave Grohl to Host SiriusXM ‘Sound City’ Show
Theo Wargo, Getty Images As if he didn’t already have enough to do, Dave Grohl has picked up another new gig: Host for satellite radio provider SiriusXM, where the Foo Fighters frontman will be behind the mic for a limited-run series titled ‘Dave Grohl Presents Sound City.’ As astute readers have probably already guessed, Grohl’s show will tie in with his upcoming ‘Sound City’ documentary , which takes a loving look back at some of the many classic songs and albums recorded at the legendary studio of the same name. If you think devoting a film and radio show to a defunct old studio seems a little excessive, never fear: Grohl has plenty of material to work from, as Sound City played host to a long list of acts that included Fleetwood Mac , Metallica , and Tom Petty (not to mention Nirvana ) before closing its doors. “I’m so proud of the Sound City film and beyond excited for the world to see what I’ve been working on for the past year,” Grohl said in a statement announcing the show. “Even before that, though, I’m grateful to SiriusXM for giving me the opportunity to share all this great music and to let people know what got me excited about Sound City in the first place.” ‘Dave Grohl Presents Sound City’ is scheduled to debut this Thursday (Nov. 29) at 4pm ET on Classic Vinyl, channel 26, with subsequent shows airing on different channels. Lenny Kravitz To Play Marvin Gaye in New Biopic
Carlos Alvarez, Getty Images Who better to play out the trials and tribulations of an R&B legend on the big screen than another musician, right? At least that’s what the creators of the upcoming biopic on Marvin Gaye seemed to have in mind when they cast rocker Lenny Kravitz for the iconic part. Over the past few years Kravitz has quietly added ‘actor’ to his repertoire of artistic skills. Although this will serve as his first leading role, Kravitz does have some acting experience under his belt. In the past few years he’s played parts in movies like ‘The Hunger Games’ and ‘Precious’ and has a handful of additional movies he’s contributed to sitting in post-production or currently being filmed. According to ABC News , the Marvin Gaye biopic will focus on the troubled artist’s life during the early ‘80s when he was in Europe and trying to kick his drug habit and revive his music career. Gaye’s life came to a tragic end in 1984 when he was shot by his father. Although Kravitz has not yet commented on his involvement, his publicist has confirmed his role. The biopic is set to be shot next year and directed by Julien Temple. Kravitz’s most recent album, ‘Black and White America,’ was released in August of 2011.
