Down Talk Possible New Musical Directions, Recording While Still Alive + Being Handsome

Independent Label Group Down  recently visited Loudwire’s offices when they were on tour in New York City. The entire group swarmed on our little studio room to talk about their four-part series of ‘Down IV’ EPs, all the while anointing themselves the most handsome band in the history of handsome while knocking back a few beers. After releasing ‘Down IV Part 1 – The Purple EP’ in September, the band refused to put a timeline on the next EP. Frontman Philip Anselmo intimated that perhaps he might not be in the right mood to record another EP at this point, and that he may find himself inspired by flute music or technical death metal in the future. Guitarist Pepper Keenan then joked that it’ll take them 20 years to release all four EPs. Since the members of Down have so many other projects going at once, we had to ask them how they manage to hunker “Down” and and actually do Down. “We all know when it’s time to do Down, it’s time to do Down,” Anselmo said. “Down has a core audience that surpasses any of our current singular audiences.” ‘Down IV Part 1 – The Purple EP,’ featuring the single ‘Witchtripper,’ is currently available at iTunes . Down will return to the road this winter with Warbeast on ‘The Weed & Speed Tour: West Coast Throwdown in the Year of XIII.” Tickets for the tour are available here ; check out the dates below the video. Soundgarden Announce 2013 North American Tour, Unveil ‘Been Away Too Long’ Video

Yesterday, Loudwire delivered an exclusive sneak peek at the new video from Soundgarden for their single ‘Been Away Too Long,’ and today the full video has made its formal premiere (watch above). While the lyrics for ‘Been Away Too Long’ sing out a sentiment that calls to mind Soundgarden’s extended absence, the video travels down a different path. It kicks off with a woman shedding a strait jacket and walking through an abandoned old building. As the building seems to come to life around her the video culminates when she meets the piercing glares of two german shepherds who have her in their sights. Check it out above in its entirety to see what happens next and draw your own conclusions. In addition to the new video, the band is building up the excitement for the release of their new disc ‘King Animal’ on Nov. 13 by announcing a 2013 North American tour. The 20-show run kicks off in late January in Washington, D.C., and takes the band across the U.S. and into Canada before wrapping up on Feb. 13 in Los Angeles, Calif., for two shows at The Wiltern. Green Day Reveal ‘Twilight: Breaking Dawn’-Themed Video for ‘The Forgotten’

Spencer Kaufman, Loudwire While Green Day dropped the unfortunate bomb earlier this week that they have to cancel all upcoming tour dates in 2012 and postpone most of their upcoming tour dates in January and February to allow their lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong to focus on his recovery from substance abuse, the band also offered up some good news, in the form of a new video for the song ‘The Forgotten.’ Although the band is one-third of the way through their release of a series of three new discs ‘¡Uno!,’ ‘¡Dos!,’ and ‘¡Tre!’ in the coming months, ‘The Forgotten’ can be found on the upcoming soundtrack for ‘ The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 .’ The soundtrack is due out on Nov. 13, a few days prior to the movie hitting the big screen. Kicking off on piano, musically ‘The Forgotten’ slow things down a little for the trio with the vampire meets pop-punk video showing off the softer side of Green Day. The clip, sure to appeal to both Green Day and ‘Twilight’ fans offers up a montage of alternating clips from the upcoming movie and bits of footage of Green Day in the studio and on the stage. Fans are already weighing in with feedback about the new song with comments like, “I love this, it’s so beautiful,” and “Amazing song!” Check it out below for yourself. Hatebreed to Release New Album in January 2013 Via Razor & Tie and Nuclear Blast

Razor & Tie Hatebreed , a Connecticut hardcore institution, have a new label home for their next album, due to drop in January 2013. The band has signed to Razor & Tie in North America, while Nuclear Blast will handle Hatebreed’s releases in European territories. Hatebreed have already finished their new studio album  – their sixth — which will see release in early winter, just in time to cure the January doldrums. It follows 2009′s self-titled release and the ‘For the Lions’ covers album, which also landed in 2009. Both of those records were issued via eOne. Frontman Jamey Jasta commented on the signing, saying, “We’re really excited to be working with such great people at both Razor & Tie and Nuclear Blast. We’ve made an awesome album and we’re chomping at the bit to get it out and hit the road. Global domination begins now.” The new album was co-produced by Hatebreed, Zeuss (who has worked with everyone from Suicide Silence to Shadows Fall ) and Josh Wilbur ( Lamb of God , Avenged Sevenfold ). Hatebreed plan to support the album with plenty of touring, including a stint on Lamb of God’s upcoming fall trek.
