Opeth to Tour North America in Spring 2013?

Roadrunner Swedish progressive metal masters Opeth have posted a mystery teaser via Roadrunner Records. We can only speculate as to what it means, but the video depicts a spinning Planet Earth with the signature Opeth logo appearing as the globe stops over North America. Accompanying the band’s logo, ‘Spring 2013′ materializes before the short teaser fades away. Immediately after the mystery video was posted, various theories began to float around the internet, and although no official announcement has been revealed along with the 30-second clip, a recent quote from frontman Mikael Akerfeldt  suggests an upcoming North American tour. “We still have a few details to work out,” Akerfeldt told Roadrunner in a November 2012 interview, “but we were supposed to be in the U.S. in the fall [of 2012] and we didn’t do it, so we’re gonna be in the U.S. in the spring, I think. But it’s not completely settled yet, so I’m not sure. I can’t say 100 percent that we’re gonna be there. But 90 percent sure, we’re going on a North American tour, which will be the last lengthy tour that we do for this record.” Opeth blazed through North America in 2012 for an incredible tour with Mastodon and Ghost , and although it’s been less than a year since we interviewed Akerfeldt ourselves and checked out Opeth’s live show, WE WANT THEM BACK! Here’s hoping for a 2013 North American tour from our Swedish friends in Opeth. Soundgarden Recruit Dave Grohl to Direct Video for ‘By Crooked Steps’

Soundgarden: Official Instagram When Dave Grohl isn’t working on his ‘Sound City’ documentary and jamming with Foo Fighters , Queens of the Stone Age , Them Crooked Vultures, his former Nirvana bandmates or Paul McCartney , he’s hanging out with his friends in Soundgarden to direct the band’s latest video. Perhaps the hardest working man in the world of rock, Dave Grohl’s latest project is behind the camera, directing Soundgarden’s upcoming video for ‘By Crooked Steps.’ Not a great deal of information has been released about the video’s concept, but through a number of pictures posted on Soundgarden’s Instagram page , ‘By Crooked Steps’ will showcase a biker theme. Following a motorcycle club called “Crooked Steps,” the patches on the back of biker gang members depicts the grim reaper armed with his trusty scythe, and if you look closely, you’ll even see some patches with a middle finger flipping the bird. Scenes depicted in the available still images show frontman Chris Cornell playing a rousing game of cards, some seedy dive bar moments and shots of Soundgarden performing ‘By Crooked Steps.’ Soundgarden are set to embark on a 2013 North American tour, beginning in New York City on Jan. 16 and concluding in Los Angeles on Feb. 16. Motionless In White Deliver an ‘Infamous’ Show in New York City With Chelsea Grin + More

Liz Ramanand, Loudwire Motionless In White literally shook the foundation of New York City’s Irving Plaza on Sunday night (Dec. 15), along with Chelsea Grin , Stick to Your Guns, The Witch Was Right and Upon This Dawning. It was a big night for Motionless In White, who stopped in New York City for their first North American headlining tour. Not one person in the venue was standing still during their set as fans went crazy as the band performed ‘Creatures,’ ‘Abigail,’ and ‘Immaculate Conception,’ among other tunes. Irving Plaza felt as if were about to cave in as fans moved with force as Motionless in White played new tracks such as ‘If It’s Dead We’ll Kill It,’ off of their latest release ‘Infamous.’ Earlier in the evening, Chelsea Grin took the stage and gave an energetic performance which had the crowd bouncing to songs such as ‘The Second Coming,’ ‘The Foolish One,’ ‘Recreant’ and ‘Don’t Ask Don’t Tell,’ among others. Stick to Your Guns preached positive messages in between songs but during their performance fans voraciously crowd surfed so much that security guards could barely keep up with them. The Witch Was Right and Upon This Dawning also served as support for the night. The show as a whole gave off a Warped Tour like atmosphere inside the intimate space of Irving Plaza. Although Motionless In White’s 2012 headlining tour has wrapped up, the band is set to hit Europe with Asking Alexandria in 2013. Check out a full list of dates and countries here . The Devil Wears Prada + As I Lay Dying Join Forces for 2013 Marathon Metalcore Tour

Liz Ramanand, Loudwire It was a massive year for The Devil Wears Prada and As I Lay Dying , as both bands played 2012′s extremely successful Mayhem tour over the summer. And now the two acts will continue the momentum with a 2013 co-headlining North American trek dubbed the ‘Marathon Metalcore Tour.’ The Devil Wears Prada will trek around the States and Canada in support of their latest album, 2011′s ‘Dead Throne,’ while As I Lay Dying will be touring behind their sixth studio album, 2012′s ‘Awakened.’ The two bands are no strangers, especially since As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis was the guest vocalist on the Devil Wears Prada track ‘Constance’ off of ‘Dead Throne.’ Perhaps we will see Lambesis grace the stage with TDWP vocalist Mike Hranica to perform the tune live? Black Veil Brides Unleash Video for ‘In The End’

YouTube Go big or go home seems to be less of a challenge and more of a promise when it comes to Black Veil Brides . With their new disc ‘ Wretched and Divine: The Story of the Wild Ones ’ due out on Jan. 8, the band recently unveiled a new video for ‘In the End,’ the first single from the upcoming concept album. The song kicks off in epic fashion, hinting at the story that’s about to unfold, with frontman Andy Biersack wailing, “ In the end / As you fade into the night / Who will tell / The story of your life ,” as the band rips into the song with a desert scene serving as their backdrop. The up-tempo rocker wages a battle call and comes equipped with everything fans have come to expect from Black Veil Brides from theatrics to shredding guitar solos and a big sing-a-long chorus. Although it may take hearing the entire new disc for the full concept to unravel, it’s clear to see in the video that the storytelling is leading the way. In a recent interview with Hollywood Music Magazine , Biersack talked about the ideas being spun behind the scenes for their new disc, explaining, “It’s a ‘V for Vendetta’-esque story where this bad guy organization called F.E.A.R. takes away science and creativity from man and I suppose is a parallel to the religious and political upbringing of all of us in small towns in America.” In addition to the first single, BVB are gearing up for the debut of a full-length film based on the new disc titled ‘Legion of the Black,’ set to be screened in theaters in Los Angeles, Calif., on Dec. 21-23. For fans that can’t make it out to the west cost to partake, the band will also be offering it through pay-per-view on their Facebook page. Coinciding with the release of ‘Wretched and Divine: The Story of the Wild Ones,’ Black Veil Brides will be kicking off their Church of the Wild Ones North American tour on Jan 4 with dates through March.
