Alice in Chains Unveil Title of New Album

Photo by Dave Ma Alice in Chains had a little fun yesterday (Feb. 13), asking fans to unscramble a collection of letters that once deciphered would reveal their album title, and the fans could then post their suggested titles to Instagram. But how many people actually came up with ‘The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here’? That is the title of the band’s new album, which is on target for a May release, as revealed in a message on the group’s website and social networking sites. The timing is perfect for Alice in Chains, who have a wealth of spring tour dates and festival appearances that should build the buzz by the time the disc drops. Alice in Chains announced a spring trek that runs April 25 – May 24 earlier this year. They’ll also be plenty busy headlining the Rocklahoma , Carolina Rebellion , Welcome to Rockville and Rock on the Range festivals, as well. The band has also been confirmed internationally for the Download Festival in England on June 15 and the Rock in Rio festival in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Sept. 19. The band is already off to a hot start with ‘The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here’ album, with the lead single ‘ Hollow ‘ inching closer to the top of the charts. The group recorded the disc in Los Angeles with producer Nick Raskulinecz. Stone Sour + Mastodon Join 2013 Download Festival Lineup

Adam Bettcher / Ethan Miller, Getty Images The Download Festival has done it again, putting together one of the best music lineups in recent memory, especially if you’re a hard rock and metal fan. The 2013 event, which runs June 14-16 at Donington Park in the U.K., just increased the awesomeness of its  already stellar lineup by adding Stone Sour and Mastodon . For Stone Sour, this marks the second major festival of 2013 where Corey Taylor will get to pull double duty (the other is Ozzfest Japan ), as his other band,  Slipknot , have been confirmed as one of Download’s headliners. Stone Sour have been building extra buzz from their ‘House of Gold & Bones, Pt. 1′ album and their European tour with Papa Roach . As an extra little gift for fans, by the time Stone Sour return to Download, ‘House of Gold & Bones, Pt. 2′ will be in stores. The status of Mastodon by the time that Download comes around is a bit murkier. Brent Hinds recently revealed that while the band is enjoying supporting their 2011 album, ‘The Hunter,’ they actually have a good start making music for their next effort, possibly using some of early 2013 to lay down tracks. Depending on how they progress, the band will either still be promoting ‘The Hunter’ or potentially gearing up for a new release. The three-day event will have Slipknot, Iron Maiden and Rammstein as the headlining bands for the individual days. Other acts set to play Download include Bullet for My Valentine , Queens of the Stone Age , 30 Seconds to Mars , Motorhead , the Gaslight Anthem , Alice in Chains , A Day to Remember , H.I.M. , Volbeat and the reunited Coal Chamber . More bands are expected to be revealed in the weeks and months leading up to the festival. For ticketing information on the 2013 Download Festival, please check here . Trapt, ‘Bring It’ – Exclusive Video Premiere

Epochal Artists / EMI Trapt are ramping up to their upcoming ‘ Reborn ‘ album with the in-your-face new single ‘Bring It,’ and they’re teaming with Loudwire to bring you the exclusive premiere of the video for the track. In the clip, the band plays against the backdrop of two female fighters going head-to-head in the ring, setting the perfect mood for a high-energy beat down. Of the track itself, singer Chris Taylor Brown tells us, “‘Bring It’ is a song that goes out to all the people in the world who have ever told you that ‘you can’t’ do this or ‘can’t’ do that. It is basically a f— you to anyone who doubts you. This song is about overcoming all the naysayers/haters you have in your life and the fact that we all need to prove these people wrong — those people who try and bring us down to their level. This song is about rising above criticism and persevering against all odds.” Brown also digs into the video itself, explaining, “The video basically shows the underdog taking on an arrogant champion, when no one else wanted to step up to her. She takes the champ’s s— everyday at the gym she works and trains at. When it is time to prove to everyone that she is the best out there, she does so, when everyone in her life told her she wouldn’t amount to anything. It was a blast to shoot watching the two chicks go at it for hours, they really knew how to fight. I wouldn’t want to get in the ring with those chicks, ha. It was also surreal to shoot a performance inside an octagon. I love MMA, I think it’s one of the best sports out there and to kick some ass playing ‘Bring It’ inside that octagon was a huge adrenaline rush. It was definitely one of the most fun videos we’ve ever done!” ‘Bring It’ is featured on the ‘Reborn’ album, which drops Jan. 22, and is currently available for pre-order at the band’s website . The first 500 people to pre-order via the website will receive an autographed copy of the album. There are also bundle options available that include the autographed CD, an exclusive t-shirt, and the download of the songs ‘Bring It,’ ‘Love Hate Relationship’ and ‘Live Wire.’ Watch Trapt’s ‘Bring It’ Video [button href=”http://loudwire.com/trapt-new-album-reborn-fall-2012-tour/” title=”Next: See Trapt’s Fall 2012 Tour Dates” align=”center”]

Black Sabbath Announce April 2013 Release for New Album + Unveil Australian Tour Dates

Tim Whitby, Getty Images Black Sabbath  have announced that their as-yet-untitled new album will be released in April 2013. In addition, the band has unveiled dates for their first tour of Australia since 1974. Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler have been working on their first new studio album together since 1978′s ‘Never Say Die.’ Rick Rubin is producing, Ozzy is currently recording vocals, and Butler is writing all the lyrics. Iommi has already finished his guitar tracks. One song title has been confirmed – ‘God Is Dead.’ If their set lists at 2012′s Download and Lollapalooza are any indication, Australian fans can expect to hear classic Sabbath songs like ‘Paranoid,’ ‘War Pigs,’ ‘Iron Man,’ ‘Snowblind’ and many more. And since the  album will be out by then, a whole batch of new songs will probably be played live as well. The press release doesn’t say who will be playing drums on the Australian tour or on the album, as original Bill Ward has parted ways with the band over contract disputes. Ozzy’s drummer Tommy Clufetos has been playing with Sabbath, and it would make sense he would continue in that role. Tickets for the Australian shows will go on sale Thursday Nov, 8. My Live Nation members will have an exclusive pre-sale starting Friday, Nov. 2. Refused Reflect on 2012 Reunion + Announce Hometown Finale

Refused – Official Site When we reflect on 2012, one of the better reunions to take place will have been that of Swedish hardcore punk outfit Refused . However, the band has revealed that the time has come for the reunion to wind down, and they’ve decided that the best place to do it would be their hometown in Umea, Sweden at the Exel Arena on Dec. 15. The group made the most of their time back together, hitting just about every major festival you can imagine. Their touring took them to such festivals as  Coachella , Rock am Ring, Roskilde, Groezrock, Download, Primavera Sound, Fuji Rock, and Pukkelpop among others. Plus, they made a rare television appearance on ‘ Late Night with Jimmy Fallon .’ As the band prepare to say farewell, they decided to put their thoughts into words and offered this note of reflection on their Facebook page: So there were those years right after school, when you were 15 and pissed off and everyone thought you were a loser and you ran around with the other weirdos, generating weirdness and little else. And there were those years when what set you apart from the others become a fixation and a lifestyle and you had a band and people talked about what you did but you were so used to being weird you just lumped them in with the rest of the slanderers. Then there were those years when the ideas you’d clung to through late adolescence were beginning to ring hollow and you got more and more confused and destructive and the band broke up and you had rent to pay. That was among the tougher years. And then slowly, over a span of time, you began to sort yourself out and your friends started making sensible decisions in their lives and it suddenly began to seem like most of you were gonna be ok. And then there was the year when you stopped being a petulent kid and you got your favorite musicians together in a room again and decided that you were gonna accept the love of thousands of listeners, accept the success that was waiting there to be had and just in general enjoy being appreciated for the exact same qualities that made you a freak to your contemporaries in your teens. This was one of the better years. And now it is coming to a close. It’s been kind to us. And that old punkrock golem “The shape of punk to come” has done good. The hatchet is buried, 1998 is not such a terrible memory for us anymore. We’re going home. And we’re doing it in style. With old friends and new acquaintances in tow we’re gonna take over our old hometown Umeå for one more night, just because we can. On the 15th of december at the Exel arena we’ll be sharing the stage with these magnificent comrades: Randy, a band of punkrock bandidos from the north who we befriended years before we even were Refused, Two White Horses, an excellent sister/brother-duo from Sävar, both of whom we’ve individually collaborated with in different musical projects through the years, and Råd Kjetil Senza Testa, a new and exciting musical collective consisting of old Umeå pop and hardcore scenesters, among them the guy who produced the very first version of New noise for a local hardcore compilation in early 1997. We unconditionally endorse these bands. Great music, good crude fun, what more do you need? It’s going to be one of those nights. Thank you for populating the pit in 2012. Over and out.
