Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan: ‘Life Did Not Turn Out the Way I’d Planned It, Not Even Close’

Kevin Winter, Getty Images We’re beginning to think that Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan may have a grudge against some of his former bandmates. Additionally, and this might be a bit of a stretch, but Corgan seems to also enjoy the occasional trash-talking session. Finally, and by all means correct us if we’re wrong, it seems possible that Billy Corgan may possess some sort of internal turmoil. We developed this hypothesis after reading a recent statement from Corgan, where he threw some ill will at some former Smashing Pumpkins members, while analyzing his personal life as well. Injecting a bit of positivity into his recent interview with SFweekly.com , Corgan described his relationships with the new Pumpkins members and how it has affected him creatively. “When you actually like each other,” Corgan explains, “it translates to the music. The difference with Oceania is, I’ve found harmony again.” This seems to be a welcome change for the iconic frontman, who compared the current lineup to various ‘classic’ Pumpkins configurations. “There’s no way to properly convey what it was like to be in that band,” Corgan says about the original lineup. “And the f—ed up stuff is 10 times more f—ed up than what the world knows. I was in love with the Smashing Pumpkins,” he says, sounding wistful. “I really believed in what we were doing. But I idealized the band — which overlooked their incredibly flawed human personas, and which now bites me in the ass, as they rear their heads for lawsuits.” He then waxes philosophically on his personal life, stating, “If somebody would have told me 15 years ago that at 45 I’d be living in a big house with two dogs and two cats, with no wife and no girlfriend, I wouldn’t have believed them. My life did not turn out the way I’d planned it. Not even close … Maybe this was the way it was meant to be all along.” The Smashing Pumpkins are currently on a North American tour in support of their 2012 album, ‘Oceania.’ [button href=”http://loudwire.com/smashing-pumpkins-the-celestials-best-rock-songs-of-2012/” title=”The Smashing Pumpkins: Best Rock Songs of 2012″ align=”center”]

Hatebreed to Release New Album in January 2013 Via Razor & Tie and Nuclear Blast

Razor & Tie Hatebreed , a Connecticut hardcore institution, have a new label home for their next album, due to drop in January 2013. The band has signed to Razor & Tie in North America, while Nuclear Blast will handle Hatebreed’s releases in European territories. Hatebreed have already finished their new studio album  – their sixth — which will see release in early winter, just in time to cure the January doldrums. It follows 2009′s self-titled release and the ‘For the Lions’ covers album, which also landed in 2009. Both of those records were issued via eOne. Frontman Jamey Jasta commented on the signing, saying, “We’re really excited to be working with such great people at both Razor & Tie and Nuclear Blast. We’ve made an awesome album and we’re chomping at the bit to get it out and hit the road. Global domination begins now.” The new album was co-produced by Hatebreed, Zeuss (who has worked with everyone from Suicide Silence to Shadows Fall ) and Josh Wilbur ( Lamb of God , Avenged Sevenfold ). Hatebreed plan to support the album with plenty of touring, including a stint on Lamb of God’s upcoming fall trek. Deftones Unleash ‘Tempest’ as First Official Single Off ‘Koi No Yokan’

Reprise Deftones got fans excited for one of 2012′s most anticipated albums, ‘Koi No Yokan,’ by recently unleashing the awesome track ‘ Leathers .’ Today happens to represent another monument for ‘Koi No Yokan,’ as Deftones have released ‘Tempest’ as the first official single from the album. ‘Tempest’ is purely and undoubtedly Deftones, as singer Chino Moreno begins the track with a drifting vocal line. Deftones constantly balance beauty and aggression in ‘Tempest,’ lending a slightly schizophrenic feel to the song, as the development of ‘Tempest’ takes many spikes and dips. This first single from ‘Koi No Yokan’ maintains the fact that no band on the planet sounds like Deftones. The little nuances that have existed during the band’s career are still firmly in tact with ‘Tempest,’ which heightens our excitement for the Nov. 13 release date for ‘Koi No Yokan.’ Deftones are currently on a North American tour with Scars on Broadway, which features Daron Malakian from System of a Down. The band is giving fans a taste of ‘Koi No Yokan’ by playing both ‘Leathers’ and ‘Rosemary’ live, and have also performed ‘ Roller Derby ‘ recently, which was reportedly the working title for ‘Poltergeist,’ the opening track on ‘Koi No Yokan.’ Check out the new Deftones track ‘Tempest’ in the player below.
