Killswitch Engage to Play ‘Alive or Just Breathing’ in Full on 2012 North American Tour

Liz Ramanand, Loudwire Only six months after the live return of vocalist Jesse Leach to Killswitch Engage , the band has announced that they will embark on a 2012 tour to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their landmark album ‘Alive or Just Breathing.’ During the monthlong North American tour, Killswitch will be playing the album in its entirety. Shadows Fall and Acaro will support the trek. Last month, it was revealed that Killswitch Engage would be headlining the 2012 California Metalfest, with the marquee announcement of their performance being that the band would be playing every song from ‘Alive or Just Breathing.’ Perhaps due to the immense fan reaction of both excitement and jealousy of fans who aren’t able to make it to California, Killswitch will now give fans across North America an opportunity to experience the 10-year-old album before the year is up. Killswitch Engage announced the news via their Facebook page accompanied by the words, “This is for all the fans.” The announcement came in video form, mixing film from 2002 (which gives an unexpected wave of nostalgia to those who remember the album’s release) with footage from 2012. The video continues to say, “‘Alive or Just Breathing’ 10 Year Anniversary Tour. Performing the entire record from beginning to end … with special guests Shadows Fall and Acaro,” before scrolling through the upcoming tour dates. “I honestly never thought I would have the opportunity to sing these songs on stage with Killswitch again,” says Jesse Leach in a press release. “Now here I am back in the band and celebrating 10 years of the release of this record. I am absolutely thrilled for this tour. I can’t wait to sing ‘Rise inside’ and ‘Just Barely Breathing’ among others. On top of it all, we have our good friends in Shadows Fall and Acaro joining us. This tour will be one we will all remember! ” Check out the announcement video and the full list of tour dates below. Rise Against Joined Onstage by Tom Morello + Members of Gaslight Anthem and MC5 in Anaheim

Trixie Textor / Ethan Miller / Ian Gavan, Getty Images Rise Against got a little help from a couple of friends for a star-studded rendition of the Bruce Springsteen  song ’The Ghost of Tom Joad’ in Anaheim, Calif., on Saturday night (Sept. 29). Tom Morello , who has spent a good portion of the summer turning up at Springsteen concerts to perform his guitar mastery on the track, was one of the guests. Morello’s band, Rage Against the Machine , also recorded their own version of the song. Morello and Rise Against vocalist Tim McIlrath have found a lot of common musical and political ground in recent years. Rise Against played Rage Against the Machine’s L.A. Rising event last year, and both musicians have spent plenty of time rallying on behalf of unions at events in Wisconsin and immigrant rights in Arizona . Morello and McIlrath also recently appeared on Occupy movement theme song ‘ We Are the 99 Percent .’ Also joining in for the powerful performance were Gaslight Anthem singer Brian Fallon and MC5 ‘s Wayne Kramer. Gaslight Anthem has spent a fair amount of time touring with Rise Against this year, and are currently opening the band’s North American trek along with Hot Water Music . There are a handful of North American dates left this month before the band heads to South America in November for three shows. Three Days Grace Offer Advance Stream of New Album ‘Transit of Venus’

Facebook: Three Days Grace ‘Transit of Venus,’ the fourth studio album from  Three Days Grace , is due out on Oct. 2, but fans can hear the entire album online now thanks to an advance stream on IGN.com. The debut single ‘Chalk Outline’ from the forthcoming disc, has been heating up radio and music charts alike. ‘Transit of Venus’ also includes a rendition of Michael Jackson’s ‘Give in To Me.’ In IGN.com ’s exclusive interview with drummer and backing vocalist Neil Sanderson, he talks about what Three Days Grace were going for with this new album. “This one is definitely a little tighter and more articulated. We wanted to take a different approach with this record, and we wanted to push the boundaries as far as our sound and what we’re singing about — dig a little bit deeper than a lot of the other rock bands that we’re hearing out there these days” says Sanderson. He goes on to say, “We thought outside the box a little bit and tried not to be as formulaic, experimenting with multiple layers … We wanted to have songs that felt more progressive … without alienating our original sound. We still sound like Three Days Grace, and we wanted to keep it real.” Three Days Grace will keep it real with a North American tour in support of ‘Transit of Venus,’ which starts in October. Korpiklaani + More Bring Folk Metal Show to New York City

Liz Ramanand, Loudwire The Finnish folk metalers of Korpiklaani graced New York’s Gramercy Theater on Saturday (Sept. 22) with a stellar performance along with Moonsorrow, Tyr and Metsatoll. The New York crowd moshed, danced and crowd surfed during the entire Korpiklaani set. The band had charming stage presence as they played fan favorites such as ‘Levan Polka,’ ‘Kunnia,’ ‘Wooden Pints,’ ‘Journey Man’ and numerous others. They also played some tavern tunes that the crowd appreciated such as ‘Beer Beer,’ ‘Vodka,’ ‘Tequila,’ ‘Happy Little Boozer,’ just to name a few. The Helsinki pagan metalers of Moonsorrow rocked fans with their heavy sound as they donned fake blood all over their faces and body. Sweaty and smelly doom metal never sounded so killer. While the gentleman of Tyr, from the Faroe Islands, had an outstanding set as they won over some New York City fans. The band had the ability to incite mosh pits with one song and cause couples to slow dance with another. Estonian group Metsatoll kicked off the incredible night of European metal, which was a true treat for the NYC crowd. Korpiklaani’s North American Tour in support of their album ‘Manala’ has ended, but you can check out our photos of the New York gig below. The band is currently on tour in Europe. Anthrax Bassist Frank Bello Reflects on One Year Anniversary of ‘Worship Music’

Photo by Matthew Rodgers A year ago,  Anthrax took the metal world by storm with ‘Worship Music,’ the band’s tenth studio album and first in eight years. ‘Worship Music’ also marked the return of vocalist Joey Belladonna, whose prior disc with Anthrax was 1990’s ‘Persistence of Time.’ When Loudwire recently caught up with bassist Frank Bello, we asked him about the one-year anniversary of ‘Worship Music’ and his reflections on the year since it’s release. “What I love about it is that I can listen to it today and a year later it feels as fresh as when it first came out” says Bello. “When we wrote it, let’s face it, there’s so many songs and here’s the deal with this – honestly when we’re going on tour I thought. ‘I want to play more songs from the record that we haven’t played yet’ and that’s the mark of the record that I like and how I know the record is that good for me.” It’s no secret that ‘Worship Music’ is loved by fans and critics alike. Bello spoke on this by saying, “From what I hear other people are saying it, everybody likes the whole record and for anybody to say after 30 years this is our finest record and our best record – that’s the ultimate compliment and that came across in a big way when we released it.” Bello continues, “I want to play so many more songs and we’re certainly not done with this record, I don’t think our fans aren’t done with it yet that’s why we’re not going to rush another record but it certainly won’t be eight years for the next record.” In addition to our conversation with Bello, the entire band released the following the following statement to celebrate the one year anniversary of ‘Worship Music.’ “To our Fans and everyone who has supported Anthrax and Worship Music : It was a little more than a year ago – September 13, 2011 – that  Worship Music  was released, and all of us in Anthrax can’t believe how much has happened since then. Our friends in the press gave the album great reviews, and so many writers singled it out as one of the best metal albums of the year.  Our label just told us that  Worship Music  has just passed the 100,000 mark on albums sold.  Since  Worship Music ‘s release, we’ve played 107 concerts all over the world – in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Japan, Russia, South America, and the U.K. – we’ve gone home to New York to not only play Yankee Stadium as one of The Big Four, but had September 14 named “Anthrax Day” in The Bronx, where Charlie, Frankie and Rob grew up. We’ve been so lucky as a band, and we know we’re able to do what we do because of you, our fans and all of our supporters in the press, at radio and retail, online, on the road, everywhere.  We’ve had one of the best years of our career, and we share it all with you.  So thank you for making the Anthrax’s “year of Worship Music the best!  More to come! Frank, Scott, Charlie, Rob and Joey” After their stint on this summer’s Mayhem Festival, Anthrax are continuing to support ‘Worship Music’ in North America and Europe.
