Lzzy Hale Joins Slash for Cover of Guns N’ Roses’ ‘Out Ta Get Me’ at Sweden’s Bandit Rock Awards

YouTube There are times in rock where the planets just align for a great collaboration and that happened again last week (Feb. 22) at Stockholm, Sweden’s Bandit Rock Awards when Halestorm ‘s Lzzy Hale  hopped onstage to join  Slash and his touring band Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators for a performance of Guns N’ Roses ‘ ‘Out Ta Get Me.’ This isn’t the first time the pair have teamed up on the song, as Hale crossed paths with Slash and his band in The Netherlands last year and also performed the Guns N’ Roses cover. At the time, Hale stated, “It was so cool. When we started the song, out of habit I went into live rock mode and kind of spaced out for a second and then went into the middle section where we were just kind of riffing with the solo and just kind of lost my mind for a second. I was like, ‘What’s going on? Slash is right here! He’s sweating on me!’ It was so cool. It was the best thing ever.” This time around, Hale and her old pal Slash were better acquainted and even shared a warm embrace at the end of the performance. Fan-shot footage from the Bandit Rock Awards performance can be seen below. In addition to playing ‘Out Ta Get Me’ with Slash onstage a couple of times, the Guns N’ Roses song was one of Halestorm’s covers on their 2011 EP, ‘ ReAniMate: The Covers EP .’ Halestorm, who just won the Best Hard Rock / Metal Performance Grammy , will return to the States in April when they begin the HardDrive Live Tour with Bullet for My Valentine . Slash Doesn’t Believe Randy Blythe Is ‘in Any Way, Shape or Form’ Guilty of Manslaughter

Jo Hale, Getty Images / Liz Ramanand, Loudwire Slash has been making his way around the world in support of his ‘ Apocalyptic Love ‘ album, and during a recent visit to the Czech Republic he shared his thoughts on the Randy Blythe manslaughter trial and his perception of the legal system from the outside. The guitar great told the Czech Republic’s Be in TV, “I know as much as I’ve been told from everybody I know in that camp. It’s a strange unique situation. I think that when he first came over here and put up his bail and they never let him out and they kept paying and they kept paying and paying and paying and they never let him out, I said, ‘What the f— is going on there.’ I mean, that’s a whole different type of law to me, where it’s just different. And so finally they let him out and now it’s actually going to trial.” The guitarist added, “I really don’t think he, in any way, shape or form, is guilty. So they’re gonna let this thing run its course I suppose. And because the judicial system here is so different that he was able to stay in jail here so long, who knows what the verdict is gonna end up being?! It’s hard to say.” The Lamb of God frontman recently returned home after some of the witnesses in the case failed to appear, leading to a delay . Slash concludes, “It’s a very long and, unfortunately, it’s a very expensive process. It’s like f—, really?!” During his interview, Slash also addressed his progress toward a follow-up to the ‘Apocalyptic Love’ album and his work on the Slasher Films horror flick ‘Nothing Left to Fear.’ Take a listen to Be in TV’s entire interview with Slash, including the comments on Blythe (at 5:02 into the clip), below. Slash Debuts Live Video for ‘Anastasia’

IHeartRadio.com Slash is digging a little deeper into his ‘ Apocalyptic Love ‘ album with a new video for the track, ‘Anastasia.’ The clip is a live performance of the song, presented by I Heart Radio, that shows off the guitarist and his band’s live prowess. Slash, in particular, is featured within this clip as his dexterity on the guitar is on full display. The musician rocks some serious scales while Myles Kennedy delivers the powerhouse vocals on the track. ‘Anastasia’ follows ‘You’re a Lie,’ ‘Standing in the Sun’ and ‘Bad Rain’ as the fourth single from the ‘Apocalyptic Love’ disc. Slash is currently on tour in Europe with dates booked through March 4 in Dublin. The guitarist and his band will also perform at Ozzfest in Tokyo, Japan May 11. Slash’s promotion may take a bit of a back seat as the year rolls on as singer Myles Kennedy has been working toward Alter Bridge ‘s next album . Slash Wins Guitarist of the Year in the 2012 Loudwire Music Awards

Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com Six-string legend Slash  experienced a strong 2012, capping it all off with a Loudwire Music Award for Guitarist of the Year. Every opponent Slash went up against in this category was a worthy one, to say the least, but after a hard-fought battle with Mark Tremonti for the award, Slash emerged victorious. In 2012, Slash released ‘Apocalyptic Love’ with Alter Bridge vocalist Myles Kennedy and backing band the Conspirators, capturing success thanks to his rabid fan base. Slash also made waves early in 2012 by not only receiving an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but facilitating a partial Guns N’ Roses reunion at the ceremony with various classic GN’R members joining the guitar god. Congratulations to Slash for his many achievements in 2012, which led him to win this award. Slash Confirms Participation in Upcoming ‘Band Fuse: Rock Legends’ Video Game

Jo Hale, Getty Pictures Slash has been keeping busy of late while focusing his energies on another offshoot of his music career. The guitar great confirmed his participation in the upcoming ‘Band Fuse: Rock Legends’ video game in a new Twitter posting . Video games like ‘Rock Band’ and ‘Guitar Hero’ were great in both drawing attention to a wide variety of bands and in some cases providing an entry point for some beginners to explore their interest in playing an instrument. However, one common bone of contention amongst those who play music for a living was that these games were not quite what the real experience was like. That’s where ‘Band Fuse: Rock Legends’ comes in. The game boasts “industry standard tablature animated for an authentic experience.” Between one and four players can take part at the same time, playing along to the music as it would typically be read by musicians as they learned themselves. Slash says in his posting, “Hands down, best guitar game.” In addition, musicians like Slash, Zakk Wylde and bass great Bootsy Collins have filmed their own tutorials within the game teaching the players how to play certain tracks. But don’t worry about keeping up with these real life master musicians, as the game supports all skill levels — from the first-time player to professional musicians. The game features 55 songs on the disc from acts like Rush , Pantera , Pearl Jam , Jane’s Addiction and more and much like some of the guitar video game predecessors, there is a career mode where you advance to different challenges the better you perform. The ‘Band Fuse: Rock Legends’ video game is expected for Xbox and PlayStation 3 this coming spring. You can watch a trailer for the game below. Man Attempts to Sell Slash’s Drivers License for $50,000 on ‘Pawn Stars’

The History Channel Want to town a piece of Guns N’ Roses history? All you’ve got to do is track down this dude who has Slash ‘s driver’s license. Yep, some guy has Slash’s driver’s license, and the man claims it was given to him by a friend of his, whose girlfriend had been a longtime bartender at a joint where the classic Guns lineup used to go get sloshed. Featured on an episode of the History Channel reality show ‘Pawn Stars,’ a man named Travis entered Las Vegas’ ‘Gold & Silver Pawn Shop’ in search for some big bucks in exchange for Slash’s license. When asked exactly how he came to possess the driver’s license of Saul ‘Slash’ Hudson, Travis has quite a story to tell. “A good buddy of mine actually had it years ago,” begins Travis. “He got it from his girlfriend, who was a bartender, and she ended up being there serving these guys all long long. And the whole group were trying to get her to flash for ‘em. So she did, she flashed one, and he threw it on the bar. I took it when I was about 18 and used it for my fake ID until I was 21.” So how much is Slash’s legitimate driver’s license worth? According to Travis, the rare item is worth $50,000 … but the man’s projection was shot down by shop employee Austin ‘Chumlee’ Russell and the store’s owner Rick Harrison, who only offered Travis $1,000 for the license. “If [Slash’s] driver license was worth 50 grand, I guarantee you he would be losing his license once a month and showing up at DMV, ‘Ah, sorry, guys, I lost it again,’” Harrison remarks. “‘Cause he would be selling that many.” Travis refused to accept any less than $15,000 for the license, so no deal was made on the show. Slash, Deftones, Tool + Stone Sour Join Ozzfest Japan Lineup

OzzfestJapan.com Ozzfest may leave quite an impression on Japan next year. The longtime hard rock and metal festival turned a few heads earlier this year when it was announced that Slipknot and Black Sabbath would headline the two-night destination festival in Japan. Now comes word that four more heavy hitters have signed on to play. A new concert poster reveals that Slash and Deftones will join the May 11 lineup, which has Slipknot as the headliner, while Tool and Stone Sour will get a chance to open for Black Sabbath on May 12. These are significant “gets” for Sharon Osbourne and the Ozzfest organizers. For one, it’s been the rare occasion that both of Corey Taylor ‘s bands are on the same bill, and he’ll get to play both days of the festival with the decidedly different sounding Slipknot and Stone Sour. Plus, Slipknot only have committed to a handful of dates for 2013, with Ozzfest being one of them. Meanwhile, after a long delay between discs, fans have been clamoring for new Tool music. The band has quietly been working on material over the past year, and the revelation that the group signed on for the show could signify that they may have new music to support when they return to the stage. Ozzfest was a major touring festival from 1996-2007, but has opted for either single-destination stops or minor runs in recent years. This will mark the first time the festival has taken place in Japan. The event is scheduled for May 11-12 at the Makuhari Messe Arena outside of Tokyo.
