Listen to their song ‘The Abandoning’ here . Welch recently joined the Korn onstage for the first time since his departure to play ‘ Blind ‘ with Korn at the 2012 Carolina Rebellion festival. Soon after, Korn guitarist James ‘Munky’ Shaffer told The Pulse of Radio that he would be open to Welch one day rejoining the band . “It’s just something that has to be super well-planned and it has to come naturally,” says Munky. “And our experience with him on Saturday has all started from a positive place, and it wasn’t forced and it was just natural. So I think if everything optimistically runs like that, that’s all I can hope for. I’m really happy just to reconnect with my old friend.” Check out the websites for the upcoming Rock am Ring and Rock im Park festivals. Bullet for My Valentine Announce New Album Title + Release Date

Sony Bullet for My Valentine are finally picking things up again with the announcement that their next album has a title — ‘Temper Temper’ — and also has a Feb. 11 release date. Not so coincidentally, Bullet for My Valentine also has a new single called ‘Temper Temper’ as well. It recently debuted online and is expected to arrive as a download next month. The ‘Temper Temper’ album finds the band reuniting with Don Gilmore, the producer behind their 2010 release ‘Fever.’ Earlier this year, singer Matt Tuck revealed that the band had been working on new music in Thailand . It’s been a pretty busy year for Tuck, who has also spent time recording and touring with his new project, AxeWound . The group recently issued their debut disc, ‘Vultures.’ That, combined with the fact that guitarist Michael “Padge” Paget recently underwent back surgery , may have had something to do with the album arriving in 2013 rather than this year. Paget had his surgery after the album was complete, and has been spending his time recuperating. NME reports that Bullet for My Valentine will hit the road shortly after the album’s release as four shows have already been announced in their native U.K. Stops include Birmingham’s O2 Academy (March 12), Glasgow’s O2 Academy (March 13), Manchester’s O2 Apollo (March 15), and London’s Roundhouse (March 17). The follow-up to the band’s 2010 album, ‘There Is a Hell, Believe Me I’ve Seen it. There Is a Heaven, Let’s Keep It a Secret,’ will be titled by the single word ‘Sempiternal,’ which means everlasting or unchanging. Speaking of their upcoming effort, vocalist Oli Sykes talks about ‘Sempiternal’ with Kerrang! magazine. “I’ve never been so confident about an album,” says Sykes. “It makes our last record just sound s–t. We’re doing stuff we could never dreamed of doing before.” Additionally, Bring Me the Horizon recently performed as part of a metalcore night for BBC Radio. The series also featured Bullet for My Valentine , We Are the Ocean, While She Sleeps, You Me at Six and Lower Than Atlantis. Listen to the BMTH performance here . AxeWound Premiere ‘Exorchrist’ Video, Announce 2012 North American Tour Dates

The End Records With their debut album ‘ Vultures ‘ out now,  Axewound have unveiled the video for the song ‘Exorchrist.’ In addition, the band also announced a short North American tour beginning in late November in Baltimore. Axewound are a supergroup of sorts, made up of Cancer Bats vocalist Liam Cormier and Bullet for My Valentine  singer-guitarist Matt Tuck along with drummer Jason Bowld of Pitchshifter, ex-Rise to Remain bassist Joe Coput and Glamour of the Kill guitarist Mike Kingswood. More than just an extension of their other bands, the members of Axewound say they were inspired by groups like Pantera and Slipknot. “Those were the bands that I adored growing up,” explains Matt Tuck. “They each had that ‘don’t give a f—’ attitude. Axewound is about us taking the same opportunity to do exactly what we want. Musically, lyrically, it is what it is – no boundaries or limits.” ‘Vultures’ combines heaviness and brutality with an ample dose of melody. “Doing what I do in Bullet, I know what people want in every sense from a band like this,” Tuck says. “Whether they are fans of hardcore metal or of classic melodic metal. We’ve tried to encompass all of that into one brutal, nasty machine.” Check out our review of AxeWound’s ‘Vultures’ here . AxeWound, ‘Vultures’ – Album Review

The End Records In the metal world, AxeWound are a supergroup as violent and graphic as their name. Featuring Cancer Bats vocalist Liam Cormier and Bullet for My Valentine  singer-guitarist Matt Tuck, along with drummer Jason Bowld of Pitchshifter, ex-Rise to Remain bassist Joe Coput and Glamour of the Kill guitarist Mike Kingswood, the band could have done or become one or a combination of many things. It could have been greater than the sum of the parts; a mish-mash that sounded like BFMV harvested with Cancer Bats’ DNA; or something totally unique in and of itself. We’re pleased to report that AxeWound are the latter and the former, but not the middle. ‘Vultures’ is 10 tracks of thrashy, razor-sharp riffery, with vocals that are screamy where they need to be and growly when they need to be. The overall mood is nastier than a hungry Rottweiler. It doesn’t straddle any lines or flounder in the middle of the road. These songs are so metal, they excrete liquid steel. There’s not much in the way of humor on the album, but that’s okay. What it lacks in lightheartedness it makes up for in sheer aggression. Besides, did we really need another album of snarkily titled songs which have nothing to do with the lyrical subject matter? No, we didn’t. AxeWound and ‘Vultures’ exist to push the metal mission forward with uncompromisingly heavy, neo-thrash tunes. ‘Post Apocalyptic Party’ feels like just that — it’s drenched in vinegar-soaked riffs, battering ram drumming, hardcore fury and thrash intensity. If the Mayan prophecies are indeed right and the end is indeed nigh, this is the song we’d want to be cranking as the world comes crashing down around us. The title track shreds, and features a guest spot from Avenged Sevenfold ‘s Synyster Gates. ‘Victim of the System’ launches with a squall of feedback and sing-talk vocals that are incredibly popular in the hardcore genre. Nevertheless, the song allows the band to smash away at the instruments while you mosh. ‘Cold’ is the most melodic jam of the bunch, vocally speaking, but the music is still fierce enough to make your blood boil. With the lyrical bark “You can’t kill me,” we’re apt to believe AxeWound are impenetrable. ‘Burn Alive’ has a doomy current running through its veins, while ‘Exorchrist’ is another example of the band’s melodic proficiency. But the rolling guitars keep the song anchored in metal. There are not a lot of breathing moments on the album, so ‘Vultures’ is the equivalent of a street fight in that it pummels over and over again, without much in the way of pauses to allow you to catch your breath. The songs are compact, usually clocking in at three minutes and under. So they don’t overstay their welcome or become too ambitious by trying to be experimental with all that extra time, nor do they drift into boring territory by being too samey. Ultimately, ‘Vultures’ is the work of seasoned musicians who are adept at their instruments and their roles. They don’t rely too much on their past (or most prolific) works, nor do they attempt to be something they are not. It’s a fresh metal album that’ll satisfy your thrash jones.
