Ozzy Osbourne Suffers Injuries in House Fire

Larry Busacca, Getty Images A freak fire in the home of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne early this morning (Jan. 17) has left metal music’s ‘Prince of Darkness’ with singed hair, no eyebrows, minor burns to his face and a setback to an existing hand injury. Firefighters were called to the Osbournes’ Beverly Hills home at around 4:45 AM this morning to extinguish a fire caused by a candle which had not been blown out before the husband and wife retired to bed. The candle was housed in a glass vase that reportedly exploded, causing a small fire in the Osbourne’s living room. Sharon and Ozzy, who had undergone hand surgery the day before, attempted to put out the flames, but their efforts resulted in minor injuries to the  Black Sabbath vocalist. Ozzy attempted to put out the fire with his hand still in the cast from his surgery as Sharon got some water and unintentionally caused the oily fire to spread as she splashed the flames. The resulting blast of fire burned Ozzy’s long hair up to his ears, seared off his eyebrows and left his cheeks skinned. Luckily, Sharon and the Osbourne’s many pets suffered no injuries. Sharon described the incident with intricate detail on her show ‘The Talk’ today [via  Contact Music ]: At five o’ clock (in the morning), I heard a noise like metal had fallen. I thought it was my housekeeper coming in and she had dropped her keys on the tiles, that’s what it sounded like, so I didn’t pay any attention. A few minutes later, my eyes are stinging and my throat’s closing up, (I thought), ‘Something’s weird smelling in here’. Then my dog started to bark. I go downstairs and the whole living room (was on fire). The candle had burst and the cracking sound was the glass and the candle exploding… My husband had an operation on his hand yesterday so he’s in a complete cast… He comes down and goes, ‘Oh, the fire, the fire!’ (and tries to put it out) with his hand in the cast. Then he opens the French doors and I go into the kitchen and throw water on it and it erupted… Ozzy’s front of his hair from (his ear down is), gone! His eyebrows (are gone)… he’s got like, skinned cheeks. We are, like, two idiots, it was like The Three Stooges… Everything you are not meant to do – go to bed with candles alight, open the doors and put water on – we did it all. They (the firemen) come up, they give us a lecture, and Ozzy’s like, ‘She’s been doing this to me for 32 years! You tell her, you tell her, no more candles!’ I apologize to my husband because he put himself out. He made his hand worse, it started to bleed, the whole nine yards, and I’m sorry and I love you and I will never light a candle again… I want to thank the firemen from Beverly Hills Fire Station because you are magnificent there and I want to say to everyone out there, please, please check your candles before you go to bed. We’re glad to hear Ozzy escaped with only minor injuries. As it stands, 2013 is shaping up to be big year for the metal legend, as Black Sabbath have just announced that they will release their long-awaited new album, ’13,’ in June. Papa Roach Unveil ‘Where Did the Angels Go’ Video

Photo by Chris Konigsmayr Papa Roach are definitely as hot as ever and audiences get a glimpse of that with the band’s latest video for ‘Where Did The Angels Go.’ The song is the latest single off the group’s ‘ The Connection ‘ album and you can definitely feel the sparks flying. The video finds the band performing inside what appears to be a rundown industrial warehouse, though the artwork for ‘The Connection’ hangs suspiciously in the background. The group deliver a high-adrenaline performance of the song as the camera work uses quick cuts, shaky movement and bright and dark lighting to give the video a more jarring feel. The final effect is the usage of sparks flying and fire breaking out on certain instruments that show exactly how hot this performance is. ‘Where Did the Angels Go’ is off to a solid start for the band and it’s currently doing battle in Loudwire’s Cage Match . The song should become one of the band’s live favorites. The group has been enjoying a European tour with Stone Sour over the last month, giving them their first chance to test out the music from their new album since Jacoby Shaddix’s vocal surgery this summer. Papa Roach and Stone Sour will return to the States early next year  for a co-headlining North American tour. Machine Head’s Robb Flynn Returns to Stage in Oakland Following Surgery

Liz Ramanand, Loudwire It took a little longer than initially expected, but Machine Head made it back to the stage Monday night in Oakland. The band was forced to  temporarily drop off  their tour when Robb Flynn required emergency surgery for a hernia, and they planned to be back for a show in Portland, Ore., on Saturday night. However, a bus breakdown thwarted those plans, but they eventually returned to the stage in Oakland. The timing was perfect for the band, as the Fox Theater’s hometown crowd provided just the boost the group was looking for upon their return. This marked the band’s first set in Oakland since their 1995 performance at Kaiser Arena supporting Slayer. Flynn, just 12 days removed from his surgery and still fighting a chest infection, gave the fans his all during the performance. The band had vowed prior to the surgery that they would return before the trek was finished and they’ll now complete the run with fellow rockers Dethklok , All That Remains , and the Black Dahlia Murder . Fan filmed footage of the group performing their song ‘Halo’ from Monday’s set can be seen below. For the remaining dates on Machine Head’s tour, check here . Machine Head to Rejoin Dethklok Tour Following Robb Flynn’s Surgery

Liz Ramanand, Loudwire They say music comes from the soul, but we’re not sure what part of Robb Flynn ‘s aching, recuperating body that his determination comes from. The Machine Head vocalist is making good on his promise to rejoin the band’s trek with  Dethklok ,  All That Remains  and Black Dahlia Murder  before its conclusion, revealing they’ll be back on the bill as of this Saturday (Nov. 24) in Portland, Ore. Flynn recently had emergency surgery to deal with a hernia, and missing dates is not something that Machine Head are accustomed to. The group bowed out of the trek and missed a total of nine dates while the singer recovered. Since the need for the surgery happened while the band was on tour, Flynn initially spent part of the recovery process in a hotel room. He documented the aftermath of the surgery in a pair of video diaries that he shared with fans. The singer recently arrived back in the Bay Area where he was able to spend the last few days recuperating at home with his family. Flynn says the experience “totally sucked balls,” but that he is “feeling stronger now, especially after a heavy listening schedule of Accept’s ‘Balls to the Wall,’ AC/DC’s ‘Big Balls’.” He adds, “Hell, I even found time to record a cover of Soulfly’s ‘Eye for an Eye,’ with the lyrics changed to ‘Guts in the Nuts.’ Guts in da nuuuuuuts, guts in da nuts, in da nuts, in da nuts.’” For the remaining dates on the Dethklok-Machine Head-All That Remains-Black Dahlia Murder trek, be sure to click here . Machine Head’s Robb Flynn Offers Second Video Update Following Hernia Surgery

Liz Ramanand, Loudwire Having surgery for a hernia is a painful process, and Machine Head ‘s Robb Flynn can attest to that. The rocker, who had emergency surgery earlier this week, has been documenting the process and sharing his recovery with fans via a video diary. The first installment showed Flynn coming out of the surgery successfully and feeling somewhat alright due in part to the drugs that were killing the pain he was experiencing. The second installment (watch below) finds Flynn a little bit worse for wear. In the new diary, we see a barely mobile Flynn struggling to stand up straight, and revealing, “I guess I was on a lot of pain meds when I left the hospital, because they’ve all worn off now. I’m really — it’s brutal.” Midway through the clip, the singer has had a difficult night trying to sleep and reveals that he couldn’t lift his left leg without excruciating pain. Even at his weakest, the rocker still kept his sense of humor, sharing, “I feel like I’ve been dry humping for a week with a girl who ain’t putting out.” Since this happened while the band was on tour, Flynn was left to wait out his recovery at a local hotel rather than flying home, and the musician admits that even though he was scheduled to fly that day, it likely wasn’t going to happen. After a bit of a time jump, the rocker leaves his room to show that the place where he was staying had a water park right outside. By the end of the video, Flynn seems noticeably better and admits that being able to step outside and take in what’s going on around him has lifted his spirits. The singer will continue his recovery and has hopes of Machine Head rejoining the tour with Dethklok that the band had started before the need for surgery occurred. However, it’s too early to establish a timetable for that happening as of yet. Bullet for My Valentine Announce New Album Title + Release Date

Sony Bullet for My Valentine are finally picking things up again with the announcement that their next album has a title — ‘Temper Temper’ — and also has a Feb. 11 release date. Not so coincidentally, Bullet for My Valentine also has a new single called ‘Temper Temper’ as well. It recently debuted online and is expected to arrive as a download next month. The ‘Temper Temper’ album finds the band reuniting with Don Gilmore, the producer behind their 2010 release ‘Fever.’ Earlier this year, singer Matt Tuck revealed that the band had been working on new music in Thailand . It’s been a pretty busy year for Tuck, who has also spent time recording and touring with his new project, AxeWound . The group recently issued their debut disc, ‘Vultures.’ That, combined with the fact that guitarist Michael “Padge” Paget recently underwent back surgery , may have had something to do with the album arriving in 2013 rather than this year. Paget had his surgery after the album was complete, and has been spending his time recuperating. NME reports that Bullet for My Valentine will hit the road shortly after the album’s release as four shows have already been announced in their native U.K. Stops include Birmingham’s O2 Academy (March 12), Glasgow’s O2 Academy (March 13), Manchester’s O2 Apollo (March 15), and London’s Roundhouse (March 17).
