Soundgarden Announce 2013 North American Tour, Unveil ‘Been Away Too Long’ Video

Yesterday, Loudwire delivered an exclusive sneak peek at the new video from Soundgarden for their single ‘Been Away Too Long,’ and today the full video has made its formal premiere (watch above). While the lyrics for ‘Been Away Too Long’ sing out a sentiment that calls to mind Soundgarden’s extended absence, the video travels down a different path. It kicks off with a woman shedding a strait jacket and walking through an abandoned old building. As the building seems to come to life around her the video culminates when she meets the piercing glares of two german shepherds who have her in their sights. Check it out above in its entirety to see what happens next and draw your own conclusions. In addition to the new video, the band is building up the excitement for the release of their new disc ‘King Animal’ on Nov. 13 by announcing a 2013 North American tour. The 20-show run kicks off in late January in Washington, D.C., and takes the band across the U.S. and into Canada before wrapping up on Feb. 13 in Los Angeles, Calif., for two shows at The Wiltern. Michael Buckner, Getty Images / Liz Ramanand, Loudwire New York alternative and progressive rock band Coheed and Cambria have just announced a 2013 U.S. headlining tour with Between the Buried and Me + Russian Circles as support. Coheed and Cambria are hitting the road to promote their upcoming full-length album, ‘The Afterman: Descension,” which will hit stores on Feb. 5. The album acts as the follow-up to the band’s 2012 album, ‘The Afterman: Ascension.’ Between the Buried and Me are currently at an extremely high point, having just released ‘The Parallax II: Future Sequence,’ which we gave a rare perfect five-star review . Much like Coheed’s release, ‘The Parallax II’ is also a follow-up record, which continues the story that began with ‘The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues’ EP. Chicago-based instrumental act Russian Circles are a fitting opening act for the tour, combining progressive rock and metal in the vein of both Coheed and BTBAM. Gojira, Devin Townsend + The Atlas Moth to Embark on 2013 North American Tour

Roadrunner This year has been phenomenal when it comes to rock and metal music tours, and with 2012 coming to an end, the year will surely be remembered as one defined by many spectacular achievements. We’re going to miss 2012, but Gojira , Devin Townsend and the Atlas Moth have just put together a must see tour set to pummel the year 2013. Beginning Jan. 14, three of modern music’s most progressive and genre-bending acts will team up for a month long North American tour. Hot off the heels of their ‘L’Enfant Sauvage’ album, Gojira are currently at the highest point of their career. Gojira’s latest record has opened their music up to a broader audience, creating one of the year’s greatest breakthrough accomplishments. Gojira frontman Joe Duplantier recently spoke with radio goddess Full Metal Jackie about touring with Devin Townsend and the Atlas Moth. “They’ve had an influence on us,” begins Duplantier, “the way we behave onstage, the way we play, they way we approach the whole thing, sometimes it’s purely technical like the way they plug in their gear. So we always learn something from touring with people that’s why I’m so happy to tour with Devin, he’s such an incredible singer – one of my influences actually and he’ll be opening for us [Laughs] how crazy is that? We’re all huge fans of Devin Townsend, Strapping Young Lad, it’s a great honor to have him on tour.” Devin Townsend released ‘Epicloud’ this year, displaying a more omniscient and comforting sound in contrast to his heavier past. After a solid run with Katatonia and Paradise Lost, Townsend and his band will hit North America again very soon. For those unfamiliar with the Atlas Moth, the Chicago-based sludge band have been trudging forward since 2007, releasing two full-length albums and two EPs since their inception. Keep these guys on your radar, because they’ve got the talent to create an incredibly accomplished future. Check out the tour dates for Gojira, Devin Townsend and the Atlas Moth’s 2013 tour below. Metallica Break Out the Hits During Vancouver Filming for 3D Concert Movie

Metallica filmed their 3D concerts for their upcoming film in Vancouver, Canada, adding a third show on Aug. 27 with a $5 ticket price and a condition. It was certainly not your average Metallica concert, as cameras and drum kits were moved between each song to accommodate the shooting of extra footage and close-ups to grab the imagery needed for the film. Despite that seeming annoyance and obstructed view, fans
