Opeth’s Mikael Akerfeldt Talks Writing New Material and Past Lineup Changes

With Opeth recently wrapping up their North American co-headlining tour with Mastodon and their last release ‘Heritage’ about to turn a year old in September, vocalist and guitarist Mikael Akerfeldt said that he has started writing for a new disc, although he admits that the writing process is only in the beginning stages. Concertgoer Dies at Wacken Open Air Festival in Germany

The 2012 Wacken Open Air Festival is now over, but sad news to report as the organizers of the event confirm that one concertgoer has been pronounced dead after what appears to be an accidental carbon monoxide poisoning on the festival’s campgrounds. As the 2012 Wacken Open Air festival winds down in Germany, the 2013 lineup is already being announced band by band. The 24th Wacken Open Air festival is scheduled for Aug. 1-3, 2013. As the lineup starts to take shape, several rock and metal highlights are popping up. Anthrax, who just wrapped up Mayhem Fest, will play the massive festival in addition to the legendary Deep Purple and Sabaton. The
