Nikki Sixx Wins Bassist of the Year in the 2012 Loudwire Music Awards

Michael Buckner, Getty Images Congrats to Nikki Sixx , the winner of the 2012 Loudwire Music Award for Bassist of the Year. The veteran rocker carried over some of his Sixx: A.M. momentum from 2011 and then kept things going by joining Motley Crue for their summer tour with Kiss. In addition, the Crue did keep fans satiated with their new single, ‘Sex.’ Sixx took home a massive 30.45 percent of the vote, showing that his popularity has not waned over his storied career. In fact, it was another well-known veteran bassist that Sixx beat to take home the title. Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea, who entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with his band this year, finished a distant second with just over 19 percent of the vote. The only other bass hero to receive a double-digit voting tally was Tremonti and Van Halen wunderkind Wolfgang Van Halen, who eeked out 10 percent of the fan voting. Congrats to Sixx on winning the 2012 Loudwire Music Awards Bassist of the Year honor. Look out for a potential repeat victory in 2013 with Sixx expected to have new records out from both Crue and Sixx: A.M. Slash Wins Guitarist of the Year in the 2012 Loudwire Music Awards

Mary Ouellette, SheWillShootYou.com Six-string legend Slash  experienced a strong 2012, capping it all off with a Loudwire Music Award for Guitarist of the Year. Every opponent Slash went up against in this category was a worthy one, to say the least, but after a hard-fought battle with Mark Tremonti for the award, Slash emerged victorious. In 2012, Slash released ‘Apocalyptic Love’ with Alter Bridge vocalist Myles Kennedy and backing band the Conspirators, capturing success thanks to his rabid fan base. Slash also made waves early in 2012 by not only receiving an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but facilitating a partial Guns N’ Roses reunion at the ceremony with various classic GN’R members joining the guitar god. Congratulations to Slash for his many achievements in 2012, which led him to win this award. The guitarist has been at the top of his game for several decades, and we wish him the very best in keeping his hot streak going strong in 2013. Stone Sour Win Rock Band of the Year in the 2012 Loudwire Music Awards

Roadrunner Records Kudos to Stone Sour  for winning Rock Band of the Year in the 2012 Loudwire Music Awards. In a heavily competitive heat, Stone Sour emerged as the victor with just over 23 percent of the final tally. The band’s big year was bolstered by their most ambitious release to date — ‘House of Gold & Bones, Pt. 1,’ which is only the first half of a two-part album project. Could that lead to a repeat victory in 2013? We’ll have to wait and see. As we stated, Stone Sour had a tough road to emerge as the victor. Halestorm gave them all they had, finishing second with close to 19.5 percent of the vote.
