Trent Reznor To Unleash New Nine Inch Nails Songs on Hits Collection Prior to Next Album

Michael Buckner, Getty Images It’s always difficult to predict the next move of Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor . Along with his legendary industrial group, Reznor’s discography includes making music with his wife for How to Destroy Angels and creating original scores for feature films. Now, Reznor has officially announced that he is planning to release new Nine Inch Nails songs on an upcoming best-of compilation. In a new feature on Reznor,  New Yorker  magazine [via Spin ] reports the following: ”In 2014, Interscope Records will release an edition of the band’s greatest hits, to which Reznor intends to contribute two new songs. Then he plans to write music for a new record.” In the same article, Reznor talks about his new partnership with hip-hop mogul Dr. Dre and his ‘Beats’ brand. It’s revealed that Reznor has been developing a music streaming project, tentatively titled ‘Daisy.’ The platform aims to help users sort through songs in a way that differentiates it from services like Spotify. “‘Here’s 16 million licensed pieces of music,’ they’ve said, but you’re not stumbling into anything,” says Reznor of the other platforms. “What’s missing is a system that adds a layer of intelligent curation . . . As great as it is to have all this information bombarding you, there’s a real value in trusted filters. It’s like having your own guy when you go into the record store, who knows what you like but can also point you down some paths you wouldn’t necessarily have encountered.” Stay tuned for more news on Reznor and his multitude of projects as news breaks. Smashing Pumpkins Frontman Billy Corgan Appears on ‘CBS This Morning’

Theo Wargo, Getty Images Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan has continued his non-stop press tour with interviews with ‘CBS This Morning,’ the Chicago Tribune and Sound Magazine recently. Out of the three sit-downs, plenty of riveting news and quotes was offered by Corgan, such as the possibility of writing a triple album, the current state of rock music and much more. During Corgan’s appearance on CBS ‘ This Morning ,’ the frontman responded to praise from fans regarding Corgan’s newest album, ‘Oceania,’ and the belief that the frontman seems creatively rejuvenated. “I think America is obsessed with what I call ‘the peak moment,’ says Corgan, but as an artist I’m invested in the journey, and when I study other artists, I’m just as interested in the fallow times as I am interested in the great times.” Corgan went on to reference the works of artist Pablo Picasso to represent the timeline of the Smashing Pumpkins. “There are some horrible paintings in there, but you can learn a lot from the horrible paintings because, ‘What was he trying to express that he wasn’t able to?’” During Corgan’s Sound Magazine interview, the musician flirted with the idea of creating a triple album. “Actually we’ve talked about making a triple album, not with this current album, but the next one. We started talking about what that would mean. I would like to do another big work but that just takes so much energy and commitment. It just takes over your life” Finally, Corgan voiced his opinion of today’s rock world during his chat with the Chicago Tribune . “I do believe rock and roll needed to change away from a hero-worship culture back to what it always was, which is sort of a mystical culture,” explains Corgan. “But that has been subverted basically by commerce. It speaks to a bigger sociological point, which is: Everything is for sale now. One painter can paint a house and make it feel haunted and another painter can paint it and bore you to tears. So, what is it about the painter of the haunted house capturing the symbolic forms? That’s how I look at it.” The Smashing Pumpkins are finishing up their 2012 U.S. tour dates tonight (Dec. 10) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. Billy Corgan on CBS ‘This Morning’

Flyleaf Unveil Animated Video for ‘Call You Out’

Facebook: Flyleaf Flyleaf have unleashed a funky new black and white animated video for their new single ‘Call You Out’ off of their latest album ‘New Horizons.’ The very creative clip follows an angry bear who takes pleasure in terrorizing the smaller animals of the forest, but you’ll have to watch the clip to see what becomes of the bullying bear. The video was directed by Brad Scott who has this to say about creating the clip: ”Our team has been a fan of Flyleaf since the very beginning, so working on a music video for the album ‘New Horizons’ was a great honor. Flyleaf’s new song ‘Call You Out’ is about the power of truth rising against evil.” Scott goes on to say, “We aligned our characters with a cast of animals who were pitted against the ultimate antagonist in a forest. Through this, the video became the ultimate musical fable; light versus dark, and the triumph of good versus evil. Using live-action and animation we decided to limit our style to a monochromatic tone, with a dark and stormy vibe. I feel that Flyleaf fans all around will love this video, and we’re really excited for the premiere.” ‘New Horizons’ is Flyleaf’s last album with vocalist Lacey Sturm, who announced her departure from the band earlier this year. Machine Head Perform Pantera’s ‘F—ing Hostile’ in Memory of Dimebag Darrell

Facebook: Machine Head It’s been eight years since the tragic onstage murder of Pantera / Damageplan guitar legend ‘Dimebag’ Darrell Abbott , but the utter outpouring of love, respect and the desire to memorialize the man has not diminished one iota. Among those who honored Dimebag’s legacy this year are  Robb Flynn and the rest of Machine Head . On Saturday, Dec. 8, the eighth anniversary of Dimebag’s passing, Machine Head performed a set in Atlanta, Ga. After concluding the song ‘Beautiful Mourning,’ Machine Head frontman Robb Flynn began to address the Atlanta audience about the death of Dimebag, along with the morbid and unfortunate anniversary day. “I’m sure all of you know, or maybe some of you don’t know, but today is Dec. 8th,” begins Flynn. “Eight years ago; this is f—ing mind-boggling to even believe, but eight years ago, Dimebag Darrell was killed onstage, man. The legacy that that man left in the world, the footprint that that dude left on the f—ing entire metal universe was unf—ing believable.” Flynn continues, “We called him a brother, man. We were friends. We had so many incredible drunken f—ing nights and hung over mornings on those two tours that we did with them. He was an amazing, amazing individual … We’re not here to celebrate his death, we’re here to celebrate his life right now, ladies and gentlemen.” After the heart-wrenching speech, Machine Head blasted into a cover of Pantera’s ‘F—ing Hostile,’ which received an explosive reaction from the crowd (watch below). Halfway across the country in Kansas City, Mo., Hellyeah , Lamb of God , In Flames and Sylosis were also paying tribute to the beloved guitarist by kicking back shots of Black Tooth Grin, Dimebag’s signature mix of whisky and Coke.
