Ozzy Osbourne Elected President of Heavy Metal

What an amazing election! After close calls, intense moments and incredible campaign efforts, the President of Heavy Metal has finally been elected. The winner is the one and only  Ozzy Osbourne . The Black Sabbath singer has captured the hearts of heavy metal music fans with his wailing voice and legendary debauchery, leading him to the evil office in a nail-bitingly close final round. Defeating GWAR’s Oderus Urungus , Maynard James Keenan and Rob Halford in previous rounds, the final battle pitted Ozzy against Rob Zombie . Zombie himself had defeated such legends as Bruce Dickinson , Dave Mustaine and Lemmy Kilmister on his way to the final round. The lead changed hands a number of times as both Zombie and Ozzy began to actually campaign for the title of President, with Zombie’s team creating custom graphics for multiple Facebook posts and Ozzy’s team busting out an old ‘Ozzy for President’ button and enlisting the help of his wife Sharon and son Jack to collect votes via Twitter. After roughly 100,000 votes, Ozzy edged out Zombie by a margin of 50.82 percent to 49.18 percent. Congrats to the ‘Prince of Darkness’ for winning Loudwire’s inaugural President of Heavy Metal Election and thanks to everyone who voted and made this whole race such a blast! Corey Taylor Discusses Slipknot’s Future, Dave Mustaine + Phil Anselmo

Liz Ramanand, Loudwire Slipknot / Stone Sour vocalist Corey Taylor has heard the question before, and he’s getting a little tired about those asking about Slipknot’s future . The vocalist tells Metal Sucks that he feels no matter how often he explains his stance on the band’s continuation, it’s not truly taken to heart. Taylor tells Metal Sucks, “It’s like the more we try to explain it, no one hears the answer. It’s like they’re waiting for the answer they want to hear. We go out of our way to make sure our fans know everything, but at the end of the day, the fans have got to trust us. The worse it gets, the more we want to push away — we’re still dealing with the fact that our brother is dead. It can get hectic when all that people want to know about is when we’re getting back together. Don’t they realize that we’re never, really, ever going to get back together? One of our founding members is gone. It’ll never be the same, y’know? People don’t understand it. I try not to be bitter and lash out, but it’s getting harder and harder. Brutal, man.” During his interview, Taylor weighed in on several other topics, including the controversial political commentaries of Megadeth ‘s Dave Mustaine . The singer says, “The thing that bothers me is no one should ever put a microphone in front of Dave Mustaine’s face unless he’s on stage. Every time he says something, I cringe. People have asked me — there was this big thing on Twitter where people we’re going, ‘Dave Mustaine makes me ashamed to be a metalhead,’ and I’m like, ‘Screw that! For every Mustaine, there’s a Hetfield . They’re his beliefs, let him talk s— all he wants, and don’t let him discourage you.’ Just because there’s one guy who doesn’t know what the hell he’s talking about, doesn’t mean there aren’t twenty more who do know.” Taylor also revealed that he’s doing his best to stay healthy on the road, though his register seems to get lower as the years go on. When asked if he thought he was morphing into Pantera ‘s Phil Anselmo , Taylor explained, “Umm… not really, no. I can walk upright, so I’m fine. I think Phil has a lot more problems than a deep voice, let’s put it that way. But my voice has been the same timbre for 15 years, so I’m not worried. Plus, I don’t drink any more — I don’t smoke any less, but I don’t drink anymore, so I’m trying to stay as healthy as I can.” These days, you can hear Taylor and his low register fronting Stone Sour on their newly released, ‘ House of Gold & Bones, Pt. 1 ‘ album. Suicide Silence Launch Donation Page to Benefit Daughter of Late Singer Mitch Lucker

The metal world has been severely shaken since the death of Suicide Silence vocalist Mitch Lucker . The vocalist struck a light pole on Halloween night while riding his 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle, dying from his injuries early the next morning. In memory of Mitch Lucker and for the benefit of his 5-year-0ld daughter Kenadee, Suicide Silence have started an official donation page with all proceeds going towards Kenadee’s education fund. For those who donate $20 or more to the fund, you’ll receive a memorial Mitch Lucker t-shirt, pictured left. For any donation under $20, your name will be added to a tribute page coming soon on SuicideSilence.net. As publicly revealed by the wife of Mitch Lucker, the singer had issues with alcohol that led to his fatal motorcycle crash. “He was an alcoholic, and it’s been a big battle,” said Lucker’s wife at a candlelight vigil . “I tried to stop him. I was in front of him begging him not to leave the house. Begging him, ‘Just seriously, for us, don’t leave,’ and he did. And this is what happened.” To donate any amount of money to the Mitch Lucker Memorial Fund, click here . The Acacia Strain vs. Ill Nino – Death Match

Rise / Victory With another victory claimed by the Acacia Strain , the band have racked up three consecutive wins in Loudwire’s Death Match. With one more, the band’s track ‘Victims of the Cave’ will be declared immortal in our Death Match Hall of Fame. The Acacia Strain have managed to put away Parkway Drive, Pig Destroyer and Fear Factory, but their greatest challenge lies in this final bout. Ill Nino recently recruited Emmure vocalist Frankie Palmeri to contribute to the new track ‘La Epidemia.’ The track from Ill Nino’s sixth full-length album uses Palmeri to explore a heavier sound, with the dual vocal attack giving the song a more pulverizing appeal. Ill Nino’s ‘Epidemia’ album was released in October through Victory Records. Can the Acacia Strain pull off one final victory to cement their place in the Death Match Hall of Fame? Or will Ill Nino snatch away a win to begin their own trail to the Hall? The choice is yours. Vote for your favorite track below! (This Death Match ends on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 10AM ET.
