Chris Cornell and Soundgarden to Perform at Commander-in-Chief’s Ball + Inaugural Ball

Chris Hyde, Getty Images Although Soundgarden are in the midst of their current North America tour run, the recently reunited rockers just added a very special appearance to their itinerary. Frontman Chris Cornell has signed on to perform at the Commander-in-Chief’s Ball, helping President Obama and Vice President Biden honor U.S. armed forces, while all of Soundgarden will be providing entertainment at the Inaugural Ball on the same day. Scheduled for Monday, Jan. 21, at the Washington Convention Center, the Commander-in-Chief’s Ball will recognize Medal of Honor recipients and Wounded Warriors with a guest list that includes both active duty and reserve military. In addition to Chris Cornell, the entertainment portion of the evening includes artists and celebs like Alicia Keys, Brad Paisley, Jamie Foxx and Jennifer Hudson. Things get turned up a few notches for the Inaugural Ball, which will feature several artists,  including Soundgarden, performing on multiple stages. An all-star cast of stars will join Soundgarden in the celebration, among them Stevie Wonder, Usher, Katy Perry and Smokey Robinson. Many of the artists performing have played a role in helping President Barack Obama get re-elected, including Cornell. Back in September, he joined a rally for President Barack Obama in Des Moines, Iowa, and performed a moving acoustic set. The Inaugural Ball serves to celebrate and unify Americans across the nation from community leaders to grassroots volunteers and elected officials. In addition, U.S. military around the world will be invited to join in the celebration through a live broadcast and everyone is invited to tune in here for a live stream. Green Day’s Music To Serve as Soundtrack to Episode of ‘CSI: NY’

Christopher Polk / Carlo Allegri, Getty Images Green Day may be off the road due to Billie Joe Armstrong ‘s rehab stint , but the group is finding plenty of other ways to remain in the spotlight. One of them will happen on Oct. 19, when the group’s music is used to soundtrack an episode of the CBS crime drama ‘CSI: NY.’ According to the band’s website , songs such as ‘Stop When the Red Light Flashes,’ ‘Amy,’ ‘Night Life,’ ‘The Forgotten,’ and ‘Kill the DJ’ will help tell the story of the episode. In the episode itself, Lindsay (Anna Belknap) is injured while trying to stop the attempted murder of a political candidate. CSI: NY executive producer Pam Veasey states, “My ultimate goal was to tell a story without dialogue, and Green Day’s music and lyrics beautifully accompanied the visuals making it a very special episode.” The band stated, “We were stoked when we found out ‘CSI: NY’ wanted to use our music instead of dialogue to narrate the first few acts of the episode. It’s the first time something like this has been done on the series, and we are blown away with what we’ve seen.” ‘CSI: NY’ airs Fridays on CBS at 8PM ET/PT. Papa Roach’s Jacoby Shaddix Sends Flowers to Wye Oak ‘Hater’ Jenn Wasner

Twitter: Wye Oak Papa Roach have a lot of fans out there, and they may have taken the first step to winning over one more. In a special feature for a recent interview, Wye Oak’s Jenn Wanser chose Papa Roach’s ‘Scars’ as her most hated song, but did have a few reservations about doing so. Rather than a war of words erupting between the pair, Wasner was surprised to receive flowers from Jacoby Shaddix . As part of an ongoing piece for the AV Club , they’ve asked musicians for the most hated tracks and somewhat begrudgingly Wasner chose ‘Scars.’ She stated, “When I heard this song for the first time, it sounded like ‘Butt Rock Band Goes to Therapy and Picks Up a Few Therapy Buzz Phrases and Then Writes a Song.’ It was also like, ‘Singer of Said Butt Rock Band Discovers What a Metaphor Is.’” But having said that, Wasner explained, “I’m actually feeling really bad, picking this person’s song apart, because how could it not be completely genuine when you read these lyrics?” The singer says after breaking down the song a little bit, she realizes that despite her own opinions, it definitely connected with a lot of people. She added, “Who am I to say this is the worst song of all time? … And I guess that’s not what this feature is … the song is most hated song. It doesn’t mean that it is objectively bad or that I’m trying to say that it is objectively bad. Disclaimer, everybody!” It didn’t take long after the article was printed for it to reach Papa Roach, and Shaddix took the high road by sending flowers to Wasner at her New York show with a message that read: “Compassion’s in my nature. From Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach.” Initially thinking she was being set up for a joke, Wasner posted a photo of the flowers on Twitter with the message, “OK fess the F— up, WHO DID THIS?? Is this for real??” Papa Roach tweeted back, “Yes it’s for real. Those are some pretty flowers! Haha all good girl … Take care and good luck in this crazy biz we call show! Jacoby.” According to Brooklyn Vegan , after receiving the confirmation, Wasner shared with the audience at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg, explaining, “Tonight is a very special night. Tonight is the night I got flowers from Papa Roach … The moral of the story is, if you talk s—, people will send you flowers.” [button href=”http://loudwire.com/papa-roach-preview-new-song-before-i-die-in-behind-the-scenes-video/” title=”Next: Papa Roach Preview ‘Before I Die'” align=”center”]
